  1. Just to comment on this - technically, TV is not 30fps, its 29.97 - which is likely why yours comes up with 29, which is fine.
  2. Without the "e" in priceless, that statement is a little disturbing
  3. As long as she doesn't get pissed off at my lack of skills, sure - I'd be happy playing with just about anyone (that isn't a pain in the ass, of course).
  4. I'd look good in a rusting Datsun
  5. It certainly would make reserving tee time easier at the local course - but! just moved, don't really know anyone yet, and my friends who don't live close also don't play golf Thats okay though, I'm sure I'll meet some equally new (or atleast accepting of a newbie like me) people while testing myself out on the course :)
  6. Definitely not going for that single-digit handicap - I just want to spend some time at the range and such to practice. Mostly so I can feel comfortable knowing I will likely make contact with the ball, regardless of how far it'll go or how accurate ;)
  7. NJ here too! I'm out in Hunterdon County
  8. If I missed a good thread for this, lemme know Didn't see one though, so I thought I'd post up where I'm at. Been to driving ranges, pitch and putt, etc, but really want to get into the game for a long while now - its been several years since I've even been to a range. Just moved, and now I've got a golf course in town. In other words, I'm going to play golf asap So, equipment-wise, here is what I have: 1) Set of clubs, borrowed from my dad (a few years old, he doesn't use them) w/ bag 2) Practice whiffle golf balls 3) Cheap shoes to start 4) Chipping practice net 5) A boatload of random custom logo balls (discount is my friend) I don't have the property to whack out balls over a distance from home, so I'm figuring on practicing with the net mostly while home. Maybe putting on the carpet too :) There is a driving range at the golf course in town. So, any ideas on any other good basics to start, or am I set enough to tee off once I feel ready? Thanks!
  9. Definitely - I've already begun browsing and making some mental notes
  10. Kind of what I expected too.... well, 27 here regardless.
  11. 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 (just bought my first house, and I need to carry stuff to work on it). 2004 Yamaha FZ6 (ok not a car, but it is my favorite vehicle , and the real reason I bought my Ram) 2005 Nissan Altima (gf's car mostly, I only take it on weekends when I don't want to spend money on gas, and she is at the stable or work). REALLY want to buy something else, but until the gf finishes her degree and gets a Real Job (TM), the chance of that is pretty slim.
  12. Negative. I am a meat popsicle. (Male.)
  13. I voted no - because I don't have HDTV "programming" (by way of satellite, cable, or OTA HD). However, both of my TV's (one for the living room, one for the bedroom) are driven by PC's, and I watch HD content using my PC all the time - just not from my dish service. 37" Sharp Aquos LCD, 26" Westinghouse LCD (surprisingly good). I've also got an NEC projector, but thats on loan from NEC and I have to return it now that I've tested it out. Really would love to put it in my bedroom though, I have cathedral ceilings, so projection would work nicely
  14. I'm a stinking new player. So.... *all* of my game needs work. However, from everything I've read (not to mention having whacked a few balls at driving ranges before), its always going to come down to a competent and consistent short game. So for now, I'm focusing on generally being able to consistently hit the ball, and shortly thereafter on pitching/chipping/putting. I figure its a decent enough place to start :)
  15. Newbie here, in a number of ways. I just bought a house in Hunterdon County, NJ, and my town happens to have a golf course... So now I'd like to play :D I've hit a few balls, about ten plus years ago as a teenager, but nothing really serious. I'd actually like to get on a course (the one in town) and play fairly regularly. Since my dad has clubs he doesn't use, I've borrowed those for now, just picked up a cheap pair of golf shoes and some balls, and after some practice, I'm hoping to be not-too-horrible when I actually set foot on the course. Anyways, hi, and looking forward to learning from you soon
