1. I've learned a lot from the high-speed replays. For instance, I realized what ball first, then turf meant when watching Tiger hit an iron on high-speed - watching the bottom of the grooves dig and stress the shaft engravedl in my head to really hit down at the ball (obviously weight forward at impact). Forever fixed my iron swing and knew what actual compression was when the ball would just "spring" off the club face.
2. This set up alone has helped my driver tremendously. Used to pull / pull slice and now I'm hitting nice push draws with the miss being a rare push - rarely pull. Has changed my game big time. Still working on this with irons, but need to set up neutral, and set that way dynamically. Otherwise, I don't feel like hitting down for some reason.
3. Thanks mvmac! After reviewing that thread, I would say that I'm not understanding what "balls of your feet" are. Seems like pros are more on their middle of their feet (arches) rather than ball of their feet - I will try that next time on the course. What about the swing itself, am I over the top, or anything else I can try to adress?
4. I've been Playing Golf for: 3 years My current handicap index or average score is: low 100s My typical ball flight is: pull (driver) / hook (irons) The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: pull with driver, hook with irons Hello All, Hope I'm doing this right and want to apologize in advance for any grammar / typos as I'm posting from my mobile device. The below link is the only video I have and its from top golf (tough to record yourself on the course lol). I noticed that I'm tilt a lot but in assuming it's from top golfs shorter driver and their short tees. I usually tee it much higher with my driver and don't fel as tilted as much (R11S). Also, although it looks like I pulled that shot, it was actually a slight push to the right - must be the camera angle. I'm open to constructive criticism as I want to see what else I can improve on. My typical miss with driver is pull to pull hook, and irons are an awe full 30 yds hook. I can hit fairways fairly, but rarely hit greens (non par 5). Usually hit 1-2 greens (non par 5) due to my awful hook :( Thanks guys! http://ubersense.com/SsnStXZI [rule] Videos:
5. I think I just had an epiphany. I always stand pretty straight up on bunker shots. Instructions always say to squat down, but never mention why - I think this video clearly shows how squatting down promotes a shallow angle of attack to the ball. Gonna have to remember that next time I'm in a bunker!
6. I play with an open stance and my ball flight is either a draw, or straight. A few hooks. I set up square, then kinda dance to an open stance while my club stays still hovered behind the ball. This is only with driver. Cannot figure it out with irons - although, irons are my biggest struggle right now.
7. Hey there! They honestly feel the same, but I wouldn't wear the mesh on morning rounds when the fairways are still pretty damp - don't wanna stain the cloth on it. I could imagine the spiked versions would have better grip in the morning as well.
8. Wanted to bump this thread and post that I absolutely love these shoes. So comfortable and do their job. Ordered the white spiked version but then ordered the charcoal mesh spikeless for the hot steaming summer time in Houston. Heck, they're so comfortable, I may make the mesh one my casual / daily shoes - just don't wanna wear the rubber nubs out. Definitely we'll worth it. Not sure if I can post it, but ordered both of them for about $60 each.
9. Sweet just joined (TKO). Now to figure out how this works...I've done fantasy football for years, but this is a little different.
10. Too late to join?
11. So, just went to the range today and had the best session ever. I could not get anything pushed right (in to out) but went back to what I thought was just a bandaid, but apparently Hogan set up this way - closed stance. I started by exaggerating my closed stance and swung...beautiful push draw. I understand I'm more than likely hitting a pull draw, but it hugs the outer edge of the fairway, then draws back in and FAR. It was at least 270 yards out with little to no effort. Then tried my 3 wood and 4 iron off the mats (which I could never really hit off of) and beautiful push draws with a closed stance. I'll address with all clubs open facing the general direction I want the ball to fly, then close my stance from there. At worst, it was a controllable block if I didn't close my stance enough, or a hook which was both playable. Absolutely stoked and cannot wait to try this tomorrow on the course!!
12. I've given up on trying to draw the driver. Either hit pulls or worm burners. I'll swing and see my swing blur path going in off the tee, any other club, I see it go out. I'm starting to believe because the ball's teed up, and by the left foot, the path will always be in of the swing circle. I think I'll stick to my more reliable open stance fade, even though its not as pretty as a big push draw I see on TV. If I need a draw, 3W it is.
13. I have the opposite problem...can't get anything pushed to the right. All pull fades / pull with driver and pull draws with irons. :(
14. Oh wow, I think I just had an epiphany in regards to how I've been swinging and this post may have finally pinpointed what I've been doing wrong with the driver or getting the ball pushed to the right. The best I could do was a pull draw...but the majority of the time was either a pull or at best a fade. So what I'm getting is that you swing around and your front leg / shoulders...what I've been doing was swing around my torso thinking I had to keep my head back. I can now also understand what keeping weight on front leg means too. I cannot wait to hit the range and try this and finally start hittinf push draws or anything to the right!!
15. I do this a lot when in usually pitching. More control with my left arm and almost feel like I'm letting go of the club by releasing pressure on mi left thumb - seems to work so far...I'll hear the bounce of the club gently brush the grass when taking practice swings. For full irons though, I tend to use more my right arm or else I'll scoop and not compress the ball at all and not take a divot. I read a magazine where Vijay Singh kind of does the same thing with his driver, you can almost see where he almost releases the hands from the grip. Is this good for drivers, can you still get compression from the ball this way?
