  1. The article about CEO salaries related to high oil prices is completely ridiculous. Consider the numbers. The US Imports about 1.5 Million barrels of oil per day. At and average right now of $135 per barrel that is $202.5 Billion dollars per day on spending of foreign oil. Not Domestic Oil that is produced in the US. They cited 3 CEOs making $21.7, $15.7, $15 Million. If you were to take all of these salaries away from the CEOs and give it back to the country and supply more oil you have bought about 25% of the total oil imported in one single day. The problem is oil consumption is too high, oil speculators, China/India demand, and the week dollar due to he FEDs lowering the interest rate. This problem has nothing to do with over inflated salaries. It’s a Macro problem, not Micro.
  2. Just to clarify after getting the lie angles brought back to even I was puring the ball. It was like Night and Day.
  3. OK - I know similar posts have been created about the topic of benefits of club fitting but this is a somewhat different question. I fully understand the advantages of custom club fitting and would recommend it to anyone. I went to get my Callaway X-20 Tours fitted last summer at a local driving range. The guy at the pro shop said I was about 2 degrees upright. I'm 6 foot and arms span is slightly longer than my height. Although the fitting was completely dynamic, using a lie board. After about a season of playing these Irons I was consistently hitting shots left, and this is a common problem of clubs that are too upright. So I brought them to a Golfsmith and had them fitted again. Long story short I had to send them back to Callaway to get the lie angle back to even. My swing did change a bit but the guy said I was hitting it dead center on the sole. No reason to adjust and the shaft length was perfect. My question is, after playing with the Callaway’s I'm ready to trade in, can't work the ball as much and going get the Mizuno MP-67. Should I get these fitted also or just go with Standard/Standard on the dimension? Can anyone truly have a standard fitting with no adjustments needed?
  4. When I was in college at Pittsburgh I would play during the day and bust out a round in 3.5 hours. I moved to NYC last summer and I have to say this is the worst city for golf. Unless you are playing during the weekday, you can't get a round in under 6 hours at any of the City Courses.
  5. stop complaining and get up and down.
  6. This question has been answered in several previous posts, I would run a search.
  7. 540 yd par 5, up hill dog leg left. Hit my drive about 285 down the left side of fairway, had a blind shot, green on the left about 250 out, hit a nice draw with my 4wood, landed pin high on the green 15 feet, actually hit into the group ahead. They said it looked like the ball came out of now where and landed smack on the green. Lipped out the eagle put, bird. - best shot I have hit in a while.
  8. I would hit a 56 wedge, open my stance, put the ball in the back, and make sure to keep my wrists from hinging/bending through impact. I find it best to control distance that way.
  9. Not worth your time or energy to get upset about things you can't control, IMHO. By the way there is more to life than being great at golf.
  10. Lefty - Phil Mickelson
  11. I played Blue Hill in Pearl River, NY today. Nice course, has 3 seperate 9 hole courses. Course was in good condition but not every long. I would recommend. Let me know when you guys are thinking of getting together, Il try and get out.
  12. Technical Recruiter for the environmental and engineering sectors in NYC Metro area. Any engineers need a job let me know.
  13. I'm out for this weekend, I have memberguest in NJ, and Sunday is mothersday. By chance is anyone here playing in the NY State Professional Engineers Rockland Chapter Annual Scholarship Golf Outing at the Blue Hill Golf Course in Rockland County this Tuesday?
  14. Weekday is going to be tough for me, due to work. If weekend is possible I'm in.
  15. A simple technique you can use is by looking at your left hand when on the club (for Right handers), you should only see a little of the left knuckle on your index finger. If you are seeing 2-3 knuckles your grip is probably too strong.
  16. Looks like you have a pretty good driver as is, I would work on the swing instead of buying a new club.
  17. Count me in.

    I Believe...

I Believe: I am new to this forum, and the reason I joined it is to enjoy golf at work. I Believe: My biggest fear about the recession is not being able to play golf. I Believe: I would be on the PGA Tour if I was consistent. I Believe: I need to work more on my consistency. I Believe: I just go the new GTA and I’m no longer upset it’s going to rain this weekend. I Believe: Golf will be the end of me; I will continue to spend/waste time and money until I’m scratch. I Believe: I believe the driver is the most important club in the bag, put the ball in play, the rest is par. 19. Don't get me wrong, Rock Hill is far better than courses in the City, it was just too wide open for me, you could play your ball anywhere with no O.B. Didn't require a lot of shot making. Hazard on one whole, that was it. I shot an 84, so its not like I'm saying I tore the course up, although it was the first round of the season.
  20. could get there with a 6 but rather hit a nice easy 5,
  21. I played yesterday at Forst Park Golf Coures in Queens, I drove out, exit 19 off the LIE, should only be about a 30 min cab ride. Course is in OK condition, for a public which probably gets played too much. Short but interesting holes, somewhat of a challange, maybe 3 par 5's and about 6 par 3's. Also have played Rock Hill out in eastern L.I., very basic not much of a challange, has some length in it. Next week I'm either playing Eisenhower or Bethpage Red, I will let you know how either of those turn out.
  22. 550 yard par 5 dogleg right, 250 yards left after drive, ball just off the right ruff. Played a fade out of the ruff with my 3 wood to with in 3 feet of the pin. Missed the eagle putt, made birdie.
