I use a KZG Gemini 460 fitted with a Matrix Shaft. The driver has a very forgiving face for shots off of the toe or heel. The Gemini driver produces long shots with minimal effort. Swing speed is 104 and I consistently carry the ball 260. The driver is not my problem.... I need to hit more GIR..... Urrrrr LOL Weekend Golfer addict.....

Tiger made a mistake, Tiger is a great golfer and a good person. I believe that the streak means a great deal to Tiger and that he holds himself to a very high standard. When Tiger finally speaks in public about the loss I imagine that he will say that mistakes throughought the round cost him the match... in other words the match should never have been contested in extra holes. That's the way that I see this event.

I did not care for Danielle during big break, I am shocked that she would put herself out there like that though. Dannielle, listen girl..... NOT A GOOD MOVE

Most Expensive Club In Your Bag?
Golfer7945 replied to st8fan19's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Most expensive club in the bag is KZG Gemini Driver with Matrix Shaft. I am convinced that it is the shaft more than the head of a golf club that makes the most difference in distance.. Any thoughts on that subject??? Of course proper swing mechanics is a must... Guys in my group play $700.00 plus drivers down to $100.00 drivers and with the exception on one young Airforce Major that consistently bombs his driver 280 and straight (the major uses a custom fitted driver with a high end shaft) I can use my Sonartec 5 wood with Matrix shaft and put drives 240 to 250 in the fairway consistently. BTW my next most expensive purchase will most likely be a good wedge. I am looking at Zodia does any one have experience with this brand of club? -
Question for Clubfitters/builders
Golfer7945 replied to GreensDruid's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
"That brings up a question about ghost tape. Can tape have too much adhesive and thereby mar the finish of the club? If you have to use the tape, what is the best kind. My test club was covered with a clear tape that was pretty sticky. Is this advisable or should you use something less sticky like a painters masking tape?" I have had good success with PUP Pop Up Protector you can find this company on line moderate pricing and quick shipping... some Edwin Watts shops carry this line of head protector tape too. Happy golfing, Dale -
I track fairways hit, GIR, and putts. Our group keeps individual cards and one member of the foursome keeps a group card as well. (we rotate the duty). I am pleased to see how many folks keep track of stats I find that reviewing the round is an excellent way of planning a strategy for the next round. Happy golfing everyone. Dale

I believe in KZG golf equipment each club is fitted by select club fitters and the options available are matched to players handicaps. KZG equipment is absolutely top quality. At this time putters are being re-designed and will be available in March of 07.

What was your first specialist sand wedge?
Golfer7945 replied to Ben2's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Hello Ben2, My first specialist wedge is a KZG 56 degree forged, I use the Ben Hogan Carnoustie wedges now... I too noticed lower scores when I began learning to use the wedges properly. I have just scheduled a couple of lessons with my PGA pro on the wedge game and I have no doubt that my game will benefit after I practice the shots that the pro will teach me. Dale -
Semi - Blades AKA muscle cavities
Golfer7945 replied to sungho_kr's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
"If you want to need to identify a problem with us amateurs, I'm a firm believer that anyone below a PGA tour level of ability who spends more time on the range beating irons and woods rather than putting and chipping is hurting their game and ability to score." kudo's to NCGolfer... Putting and chipping.... is the key! look at Tiger from last year and this year only a few putts kept him from winning two majors last year and the two most recent events this year in Asia... -
Semi - Blades AKA muscle cavities
Golfer7945 replied to sungho_kr's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I really like to hit forged blades wedges through 9 Iron, from 8 Iron through 5 iron i like progressive cavity's long irons are now hybrids... I play the evolution forged from KZG great technology and forgings. Go with technology and tradition the best of both worlds: http://www.kzgolf.com/Irons_Evolution.aspx -
Golf Central, Grey Goose 19th hole, and playing lessons with the pros.

Hello! fellow golfers, I am playing KZG forged irons (fitted) and find that my ball striking is becoming more dynamic. Playing properly fitted forged irons is not a hindrance to shot making (like my friends said that this type of club would be) I find the clubs to be moderately forgiving when I am having an off day. On days that I am confident and relaxed hitting shots with the forged irons is a pure rush of adrenaline fueled joy. I look forward to reading the comments from members who have played both game improvement irons and forged irons cavity and or blade style. Dale

Hello, my name is Eric, and I'm a golfer (or hope to be)
Golfer7945 replied to beantown_golfer's topic in Welcome, Everyone
Welcome Eric, I am happy to read that you are becoming serious about the game. Like you I languished for years playing the occasional scramble for company functions. I decided to get serious two years ago. I was shooting between 120 and 140 and possessed the ugliest swing on the planet...... (my friends were in agony watching me swing) I made a plan and stuck to it.... First I purchased a set of KZG zero offset tour blades, I scheduled a set of 3 lessons with a pga pro set 3 weeks apart, then I committed myself to 100 balls a day on the range. I kept up this routine throughout an entire summer. I played golf twice a week during the fall and once a week during the winter, I traded the blades for a set of KZG cavity forged irons the next spring and continued with lessons and rounds of golf... (now shooting in the 90's to low 100's) My next step was a new set of wedges and a lesson with my pro on how to use the wedges, I then practiced 3 times per week with the wedges and my scores dropped to the low 90's. next step I sold the cavity back irons and had a set of KZG evolution irons fitted for me I now shoot in the 80's consistently and posted an 82, 83, 85 in a row this past summer. I just bought a new driver (fitted) re-shafted my 5 wood (hitting from the short grasss is key..... I was inspired by Tiger at the Open Championship) and ordered a putter that fits me better than my old one does. my goal is to break 80 this winter.... hang in there Eric and welcome to the world of golf addicts. I use a silver coin or a new quarter (Texas) cause I like the look of the Texas Quarter.

When I decided that I was going to learn to hit a golf ball I bought a set of forged blades and went to a pro for swing lessons. I played the blades for one season and I did get to the point where I was hitting the ball fairly well. I then switched to forged cavity backs for the next season (even swap for the blades at my local pro shop). Currently I am playing a set of custom fitted double forged Evolution irons from KZG these irons go from cavity to blade as the clubs increase in loft. (I use Hybrids for the 3 and 4 iron). Summary! I like the approach of avoiding game improvement irons when the golfer is committed to lessons, practice and Play! Quick note having your clubs built for you gives you the advantage of choosing the correct shaft for your swing speed, your height etc. (find a pro that you trust and consult with him or her) Happy golfing!
-
I believe in KZG equipment. Having clubs built for you for a price that is about the same as a rack iron is to me a distinct advantage. You will most certainly move through many different grades of irons and woods throughout your golf career. The KZG optiion will allow your fitter to work with you on shaft options that will fit your swing, body type and game. Good luck!

Short game really does matter..
Golfer7945 replied to Maverick's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I agree with Maverick, the importance of short game becomes acutely obvious once your play elevates to the level where up and down opportunities and long birdie putts become a common element of the game. Another way of saying what I mean is (I HATE WASTING TWO GOOD SWINGS) yesterday I placed the perfect three wood on a short par 4 (to 15 yards) from the pin only 5 yards to the green and took a par because of a very poor chip shot.... Next hole poor second shot (shanked it right) then a perfect flop shot and a 1 putt for par (yea!) then a par 5 with water right yup! you guessed it I am hitting three at the drop area o.k. relax and blasted a 5 wood placed the 4th shot 40 plus feet from the pin and took 3 putts (it only took three swings to cover 500 yards yet it took 4 strokes to complete the last 45 yards (this game drives me crazy) I am so hooked... grin -
Do I have to be parallel at the top?
Golfer7945 replied to Maverick's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Last spring and summer I was very strong and I used a swing that was parallel at the top and I was able to get fantastic yardage and pretty good consistency for a weekend golfer... Then I got really sick (emergency procedures and surgery the whole enchilada) I lost a lot of weight and strength. This spring I visited my pro and I asked him to instruct me to a simple to repeat swing. The new swing uses a back swing that is short of parallel. The new swing is much more compact and easier to repeat and iron striking is more solid. I gave up about a club length in distance with my irons but picked up a good 20+ yards with the driver and more important I hit more greens and fairways. My goal for this golf season is to trim at least 5 strokes from my handicap. I need short game help (chipping and short pitch shots) -
Eric, makes good points as does LDAV allow me to weigh in on the subject. Have you visited your teaching pro for a session with a launch monitor? If not schedule a $35.00 session with the pro. Grip, set up and simple swing mechanics will be critical for you to learn and much more important than ripping away on the driving range (using poor technique). Remember that practice should be a pleasant experience and a method for imprinting good skills. Once you learn the grip, set up and inside swing path your pro will be able to help you choose the correct driver for you. Happy golfing! P.S. Ebay is a good place to buy different types of clubs but I suggest that you know your swing speed and then research which types of shafts work best for that swing speed before you spend any more money on clubs.

Did your Pro also suggest an athletic stance? Keep your weight distributed similar to the stance of a third baseman in baseball also to be careful of crowding the ball (reach for it).
