A late morning round produced a 75 for me at my golf club. Rating: 74.0 Slope: 138. I wasn't too impressed with any of my shots. I birdied 2, bogeyed 3, doubled 1. Wish I had my Game Golf on for this round. Forgot it on the computer. Highlights: Missed two putts within 3 feet....ARRGGHHH. *sigh* One for par, and one for birdie. I managed to stay out of trouble, like water, bushes and quicksand. This is pretty much as good as I've scored in a while, and I didn't strike the ball very well. Going to hit the course again Friday to see if I can strike better, and in turn score better. Stay tuned.

Does this every happen to anyone else?
Bechambo replied to Zachandlutz's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Well, lets not forget its SoCal, and that weather is fairly temporary. We have some storms coming through, and thats the reason for the colder weather. Give it a week and we'll be back to 80F. -
How to Hit a Driver (Hit it Further and Stop Slicing!)
Bechambo replied to mvmac's topic in Swing Thoughts
That swing tendency of having the left knee bend towards the right reminds me of Ian Poulter's swing. Maybe think about shortening the backswing a little bit to gain some club path and timing control. Something I've had some success with. -
what happened to all the great short par-threes?
Bechambo replied to onthehunt526's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
At my course, The Golf Club at Terra Lago, we have a nice mix of par-3's. North course has a 156, 172, 182 and 232 fromt he tips. South course has a 148, 149, 201, and 231 from the tips. My club selection for the North is 9, 7, 6, 3 iron. South, 9, 9, 6, 3 iron. -
Red for east coast, because it reminds me of New England, lobster, Boston and one of their fall colors. blue for west coast because it reminds me of our 330+ days of blue skies, the Dodgers, and it's my favorite color to wear. Blue West, Red East. that's my vote.

My most memorable shot was at a US Open qualifier at Andalusia Country Club. We started on the back nine and the shot took place on the 11th hole. I hit my drive into a right fairway bunker. The next shot was a 7 iron to a back pin, slight fade for about 170 yards, leaving me a tap in for birdie. Best fairway bunker shot ever (for me). Great feeling, great moment. Didn't qualify though. Felt pro for two holes.

Posted my first round with Game Golf. It didn't pick up my first two holes, some had minor edits such as tee box and pins, and most were pretty accurate recordings. I like it so far, need more rounds to fill in data points for all my clubs to start showing overarching issues. I really like the challenges portion. Signed up for the putts/hole one. Posted a 1.38 in my last round, but signed up for challenge after the round, therefore it didn't count. Follow Barrett Chamberlain, if your on Game Golf.

Yeah. I've been talking to Mike, and I have been working on Key's 1 - 3 mostly. Flaring out the feet, getting the knee's pointed more out, and not in. The one thing I am currently having trouble with is Key 3, inline impact. I can do it half and quarter swing, but as you can see by the video, at full swing I still flip a little. I figure it's something I have to continue to work in. Breaking old habits and drilling in new ones. Looking at the video, it seems like I have to hold my hands back for a short moment more, and I will have that inline impact. What do you think Erik?

Is Distance Really That Important for Amateurs?
Bechambo replied to FireDragon76's topic in Golf Talk
I'm coming into this discussion late, and not sure what has already been addressed. However, have the terms been defined and agreed upon? It seems to me that 'accuracy' is a measurement of closeness to a value or point, having two or more dimensions (such as the hole). Whereas distance is a single dimension, which I would assume would be part of accuracy. In this sense, it seems, the argument is mute, as it would assert that the wheels are more important than the car; these things are not comparable as it would be comparing the part to the whole. That said, if 'accuracy' is referring to intended direction only (minus distance of course), then the comparison of directional control vs. distance would seem more clear. To this end, in my opinion, it depends. Distance matters more, so long as directional control is within a certain margin of error. Directional control matters more if you are not within a certain margin of error. Although, I think it sounds weird saying something matters more, as these are parts of a whole that are both necessary in play. Given whatever conditions and state you're playing in, in any moment, determine what is necessary to play your best shots. If your distance is putting you out of play in a situation, shoot em' short and in play. If not and your just playing out of some rough more, hit rough shots. It's all scenario based. I think the distance side would simply say 'the scenarios where distance would help an amateur more, occurs more often.' -
TST SoCal 2014 Fall Outing December 7th Empire Lakes

Not going to this one guys. Sorry. -
Alright, @tristanhilton85 or @mvmac , one of you needs to start the new TST SoCal Summer 2014 Outing Thread so we can get the new ball rolling. Lets narrow it down to 2 or 3 courses in the San Diego area and post that poll. One that was already mentioned was Encinitas Ranch Golf Course. I would like to nominate Coronado Golf Course as a possibility; haven't played it myself, but it looks nice enough and I like the location.

This was posted on the SCGA site and I found it to be an interesting idea. I would like t hear everyone's thought on this.

It was a weird day. 4 doubles and 5 birdies, 78.

I would go for certain handicaps being given the choice to substitute in a handicap stroke of theirs for the option to play a tee or two up on the Par 3's. ie. blues to whites, or golds. That way you're giving a stroke for a yardage advantage which would make it interesting and risky. For example again, at Black Gold GC, hole #7 plays 149yds from the blues and you would substitute one handicap stroke for the opportunity to hit from the golds which is 129yds.

Pretty cool day today. Had @tristanhilton85 caddie for me at a Pro-Am at Mission Hills CC on the tournament course for the upcoming Kraft Nabisco Championship. My team won second, (we played best two scores per hole, five man team, 4 am's 1 pro.) and I shot a 74. The Dinah Shore course was not what I would consider tournament condition for the Pro's standards, but pre-tournament condition, which is really nice by any amateurs standards. And I birdied 18, which was pretty cool. Had an eagle opportunity from about 12 feet there, but missed it left (pull). Need to work on the putts some more.

So, @tristanhilton85 took some more video of my swing for me. This DTL view points out how I am standing up during my attack causing the ball to cut. I think this is also the reason for a majority of my spin. I'm going to hit the range with my camera tomorrow morning and really figure this out. I integrated the flared feet and it is working similarly as my parallel feet, but perhaps improvement is yet to be seen. It feels to me that I have to relearn my weight shifts, but that shouldn't take too long. Here's a better view of the feet flare, but once again I stand up a bit out of the swing. I really need to work on that.

I think tristanhilton85 needs more time on the range. All he does is play the course. I generally do 1 hour of range per round, which works out to about 6 hours of range per week.;-)
