  1. Sounds like you've got it all laid out pretty well. Good luck. If it works out well, you've got yourself a playing partner for life.
  2. A little advice, DO NOT try to teach her yourself. Get her some lessons. I've taken my wife to the range with me a couple of times and she always has fun, but she hasn't expressed a desire to take the game up herself. She does say she wants to go watch me play, which is fine, could use the company on those rare days when I can't find one of my friends to play with.
  3. I think that line says it all. Not saying that to be a smart ass or anything like that, just pointing out what is obviously a health issue. God knows that I could stand to lose quite a bit of weight myself.
  4. The wife already gave me a Nike Unitized Retro 33" putter. I'm sure I'll get at least a couple of dozen golf balls and probably some clothes.
  5. Rockbottomgolf.com has great prices, though their selection is very limited. You can also use GOBOILERS in the coupon section and get an additional 10% off. I've also ordered a couple of times from TGW.com, great prices on last years models and like someone else mentioned only $5 shipping.
  6. If money were no option, I would play what works. Sort of like now, but money being no option would open myself up to trying a lot more expensive clubs to see if they work.
  7. You can always just buy a hybrid of comparable loft to replace the broken 4 iron.
  8. I learned to drive when I was 14 years old. The good thing about growing up in a rural area is that there are plenty of backroads that you can drive on with no traffic at all. My first time on the highway was a sort of sink or swim situation. My dad had just been to the doctor and they had changed some of his medications, little did he know that one of them pretty much knocked you out. He pulled over to the side of the road, looked at me in the passenger seat and said, "You think you can drive home from here?" I just said "I guess we'll see" and we made it home.
  9. I watched that video the other night at work. If I would've been alone, it probably would have made me cry. It's amazing that this knowing he was dieing cared more about others than himself.
  10. 1. Commit to one swing and stick with it. 2. Practice more, not just pound balls at the range, but actually practice. 3. Play within myself, stop trying to do things I know I can't do. 4. Practice better course management, don't pull out the driver on every par 4. 5. Shoot consistently in the 80s for 18 holes or the 40s for 9 holes. 6. Walk more often. If I can do the first 4 things, number 5 should take care of itself.
  11. Just play your game and don't look behind you. As long as you and your friends are playing at a decent pace and allow faster players to play through, don't worry about what anyone else on the course thinks of your game. Everybody on the course was a beginner at one time.
  12. My wife has been asking me for weeks what I wanted for Xmas, but I just could not think of anything. Today I ran across a post here about Nike Unitized putters that got me to remember how I had wanted one earlier in the year, so I called the wife at work and told her I found a Xmas gift for myself and went ahead and ordered a 33" Unitized Retro putter.
  13. I would definitely say "bye-bye" to that ball.
  14. I had looked at the Unitized putters earlier in the season, but had just decided to stick with my Voodoo. This topic made me look at them again. I couldn't pass up the Retro for $85, so I called the wife at work and told her I was ordering a Xmas gift for myself and went ahead and ordered it.
  15. I still think the best format for the last tournament is match play. If they did that, I think it would definitely generate more excitement for the final round.
  16. Bubba Watson has a nice one too. It has black diamonds all around it and "Bubba" spelled out in pink crystals.
  17. My wife, who doesn't even play, even commented on Haymes' swing. It's pretty ugly, but it seems to be working ok for him right now.
  18. Should work out great for both parties. Justin Timberlake is a rarity among celebrities these days, you never hear anything bad about the guy.
  19. I was watching TGC the other day and found out an interesting fact. Ben Hogan never made a hole in one. I think that's a testament to just how lucky a hole in one really is. A man who studied the golf swing as much as Hogan, who had one of the greatest swings of all time, never made an ace. Truly amazing.
  20. I'm still researching finishes. I'm leaning towards bluing, but I'm not really sure.
  21. I'm going to try it. I figure that since it was only a $15 investment to begin with, if I screw it up, I'm not out much.
  22. I have a Dunlop putter in that style. Picked it up for $15 at Wal-Mart. Hope to get started on stripping it down and refinishing it soon.
  23. I love the shape of the Bimini. I have a Dunlop putter that is the same design that I'm getting ready to cut down and refinish. If that project doesn't go as well as I like, I'll be picking one of these up in the spring.
  24. I guess it's kind of "Do as I say, not as I do" then. I used to never wear my seatbelt. Whenever my wife would say buckle up, I'd always say "I've been driving for 15 years without one, I don't want to jynx myself now." and just leave it off. Now I wear mine though, not because of concern for my own safety, but simply because my car has an annoying beeper that won't shut up until I'm buckled in.
  25. I love fall rates. I went to play 9 holes at the nearest course to me yesterday, but ended up playing 18 instead. When I told the clubhouse attendant that I wanted 9 holes with a cart, she said that with the fall rates it was only $3 more to play 18.
