  1. I have now played a few times with mine, and I am very happy with them. They are pretty forgiving, but I was still able to work the ball with them. The only thing I would change from a personal point of view is that I get quite a high ball flight from them. In most cases this is ok, but sometimes I play courses where the wind can get up and a lower ball trajectory can be usefull. Other than that I would definately recommend them. I also think they are a club that will suit all types of player, so you could get them as a higher handicap, and still be happy with them as a single figure player. If you went with the XD once you got better you'd probably want to change. Not long untill you get yours, let me know how you go.
  2. Its unlikely human contribution to environmental damage has much of an impact at all. Maybe the dinosaurs all died out because they were driving gas guzzlers! There was also talk here about war. I'm not really pro or anti it at all. However I realise that as I drive my car round it would be hypocritical of me to be anti war and claim its all about keeping oil flowing, because I am using that oil. I hope all the anti war protestors aren't using cars, or electricity that could be made by burning oil, or public trasnport that uses oil. If they do use a bike, they mustn't oil any of the parts etc! back on topic, that car looks alright. WOuld be interesting to see what its actually like in real life, what kind of noise it makes etc.
  3. I would have thought it meant the flex was the same throughout the shaft, as opposed to being stiffer at the tip or the butt.
  4. I did try both, but I didn't spend that much time with the AP2's mainly because like you, I wasn't really wanting to spend that much. From what I did hit of them, I thought they were good, but not good enough to justify the extra spending, as I was able to hit both clubs just as well. I'd agree that the tour burners are more forgiving, but you can still work the ball with them as well. If theres anything you specifically you want to know just ask. Will you be getting them custom fit?
  5. The tour burners ahve some offset, but not as much as the XDs. To give you an idea of skill, I play off 10, but I know there is at least 1 guy on the tour using them. Its on the TM website but I forget who it is. So it seems they are quite versatile rather than aimed at 1 level of player.
  6. I have one and it is amazing to use. I also liked the look of it from the start. Its very different which is what I think I like. I guess there are people who like change and people who like tradition so depending what camp you are in it depends what you think of it.
  7. I had the same choice. I found both clubs were pretty similar. In the end I went with the G10 because it was available with more shaft options and over here it was about £50 ($100) cheaper.
  8. You can also look at it this way... Although big name companies spend a lot on advertising and sponsorship, they also spend a lot on research. Once a new club design has been made they need to recover the research cost. Companies that make a copy do not. However if noone pays for the research it will eventually stop. Also because a club looks the same on the outside, doesn't mean it is the same inside.
  9. Very interesting. I've not seen the show, but just thinking about what you said, it makes sense. To move the heavier club at the same speed as the normal club, you'd have to exert more force, so in theory switchin back to a lighter club should be faster. If the human body were a simple machine this would work. As most people swing the lighter club at full speed already, they can't swing the heavier club at the same speed so they either swing it slower, or faster because of momentum and have messed up timing. When they switch back, all they have done is put the slow swing into muscle memory, and\or possibly messed up timing. However as mentioned before I think weighted clubs arre good for strecthing. I also think they are good for practicing static positions, because the heavier clubs provide more feedback to the mucles, which helps store more information about the precise positions of all the muscles in the brain.
  10. I've just bought a set of tour burners, so I'll be able to give you my opinion after some rounds with them. My answer may not be the same as your though, especially if you don't end up with the exact same spec of clubs as me after fitting! The best thing is to go and try both and see what you like. Maybe try other clubs too, and let the results make the decision.
  11. Its interesting to note cultural differences in golf. As this forum is US based, it seems everyone is used to golf carts. Over here in the UK its pretty normal to walk, and a high percentage of people don't even use a trolley, and carry their bag! Using a cart would be unlikely at most courses. On another note, from a sports science point of view, generally you will play better when you walk. When you sit in a cart all your lower body muscles are doing nothing, and your hamstrings and hips are shortened and tightened. When you walk you are using these muscles which are important to the swing, so they are stretched and warmed up ready to go, which leads to a better swing.
  12. From a physiological point of view, it takes the average person 3-5 weeks to burn new neural pathways. So it will take this long for a change to become really natural. I know most people won't do it, but when making changes, I usually just work on the swing without a ball. That way I focus on getting the swing right, and not worrying about the result. Otherwise its easy to get caught up in analysing, and making adjustments based on each ball you hit. Once the swing is grooved I then bring in a ball, and the new swing just happens naturally with no thought.
  13. If an animal takes your ball, don't the rules allow you to replace without penalty? Technically a human is an animal, so surely you could just apply this rule?
  14. My c*ck is 15"! Thats basically I the impression I got reading this thread! I know I'm prob gonna get flamed as I'm a newbie, but I had to post that. Anyway why isn't there a thread about your average score? I've never seen a spot on the scorecard for drive length, only for number of shots taken.
