I launch my drives very low, currently hitting a 9.5 degree with high launch shaft. I just bought a 11.5 Titleist to launch it higher and get more distance from my drives, eventhough dry conditions are letting me get away with my low drives. So, yeah, I vote high.

If winning 2 playoff events isn't pressure I don't know what is. I am assuming you don't remember his drive on the 18th while leading last year. AK won regular nobody cares tournaments. I agree Camilo didn't play his best yesterday but you CAN'T win every time. Watney won because he rolled one in from like 100ft. Camilo had about 5 of those but they didn't want to go in. Anyways, I expect both Camilo and AK to win a couple this year too.

Agreed....

Holy #$#%^$ Best final round I have seen in a long time. Camilo just impressive, five down, and boom boom boom, makes everything. What mental power he is showing lately. Sergio on the other hand, man poor guy. His brain doesn't let him win I guess, he has the game but doesn't trust it. AK seemed very nervous, like Sergio I think he couldn't handle the pressure. The chunked chip gave it away but he also run a lot of putts way past and so on. Phil Oh so close... Great finish! Congrats to Camilo

Thanks. For some reason I thought it would be more expensive.

I am talking about the small box not just a brush. To clean the face I have to bend the shaft a bit always being careful of not doing it too hard. But, lately I have been hitting my pw and 9 iron almost the same and the worse is that it is only a few yards more than my 54 degree. I have a huge gap to my 8, so I am thinking it is the loft. what is a normal price for checking the lofts??

Yesterday I hit the longest drive of my almost 2 years playing golf. I had become accustomed to hitting in the 220-240 range with 250 being a perfect drive. I just said to myself that since I dislocated my shoulder in an accident prior to golf, I just couldn't get that much power into the ball. Adding to that that I am about 140 lbs 5'8, so not much mass here. Well yesterday I played 9 and on the tee of the 9 I coil back and hit, BOOM, hit the sweetspot nicely. I was very happy as this is a 415 yard par 4 in which without a good drive there is no way of hitting the green. I walk towards the FW and find my ball about 134 yds from the green, making this a 281 yard drive. Take into account there was no wind, probably even a bit against me. Since it was getting dark I didn't get a chance to try and replicate it, but it is great to know that I have 280 yard drives in me somewhere. Now I need to know where to look. Do you guys have similar stories and things I could look into to hit this nice drive down the middle?

86, my personal best. See my thread for details

Hey guys, Just wanted to share my personal best round and my first below 90! I shot 86 today from the whites (6200). 44(13)/42(15) I was even par on 15th through the back nine and shot 3 double bogeys to end with a 42. Just the thought of breaking 40 made me play poorly. Anyways I am very happy with my progress, my goal was to break 90 before completing my second year of playing and I made it. I think I owe it to my new vokey wedges, I was leaving short putts for par all day. I only hit 3 fairways and 4 greens, but short game was on with 28 putts. As always I can only think of how many shots I left!! I hit 3 in the water from the tee! 1 birdie 6 pars 7 bogeys 4 double bogeys Hopefully I will start shooting 80's more and more and get my handicap down near 15! Thanks for reading! I loveee this game!

This makes me sick to my stomach

So is the putter fake? I may be looking to getting a Cameron in the near future also. -
Man I just watched the last few holes again... the drive on 18th was impressive! About 310 yards carry over the bunkers...some mental toughness right there. That drive should have been AK's, not Camilo's. Personally I think Camilo will mature into a top 5 player in the world. He just needed to break through and if you look he always has decent showings in very important tournaments ( majors, playoffs and the like) which bodes well for any player as he likes pressure in my view. The shot of the day on the pga, the birdie on 14th I think, over the ridge and breaking to the right. Hopefully we will have a nice field battling out for the Tour Championship to at least have some fun watching it.

So no one here has them? They are kind of new I guess.

Haven't heard Villegas talk about it. I did hear him say that it was the worst cut to miss, but no whining on his part. I think inside he must be pissed at not having a chance.
-
Sorry Harry, I thought that if you didn't know the results you would never read the tour talk threads. I opened tour talk and there was actually a thread that says missed 5 cuts and wins fedex cup. Well the only person that could have won was VJ only if Villegas won today, so I didn't think about spoilers. Honest mistake. Sorry.

CONGRATS to Camilo! What a win, I was very impressed with the drive on 18. This guy just needed that first one, he will be money and the best South American golfer of all time IMO. Camilo and Kim are super stars in the making. Excited to see if they can take on Tiger.

Hi guys, I am thinking of giving these irons a chance. Great reviews everywhere I look. As long as I love the mp-60, I want to get below a 15 soon, and I feel the Wilsons may give me a better chance. Anybody hit them? Can you help me with insight? What about the flex? I am thinking about going regular for distance and for my shoulder ( dislocated it mountain biking about 2 years ago, before I started golfing). 1. are they awkward because of the longer shaft? 2. do they make a 3 iron? Wilson says no, some websites apparently are selling the 3 iron.

I was in the same situation a week ago, 47 pw. Went with 54.10 and 58.08 spin milled. Couldn't be happier. Went with the 58 instead of the 60 because I feel it is far more versatile, and I can hit a lot more shots with the 58.
-
Birdieman, For me its a much bigger jump as I was playing the SW from my iron set (Tour collection $129 for the complete bag and clubs) and a fortune (walmart $5 ) lob wedge! Maybe it was an initial reaction but man I love the way they feel.

I got my new Vokey spin milled wedges today, 54.10 and 58.08. Man they are a thing of beauty. Went to the range, chipped about 40 balls with each, very nice feeling, perfect bounce, versatile! I can hit it low, high, spin it, whatever I want. Then on to the range, WOW, nice weight through the swing. They actually slowed down my swing but was hitting the 54 100 yards on the spot! Very sweet feeling when catching them perfect. Last but not least to the trap. OH my god, I was leaving gimme putts from 15 yards. It just works by itself. I am a very good bunker player for my hcp, but this wedge is just not fair. the 10 degree of bounce was perfect, not even a hint of digging on fluffy sand. I am officially in love. These are my first "real" clubs in my 20 month journey through golf. Now I am thinking what good irons and woods would do to my game! Thanks to all for the help!

Questions about Vokey SM wedges
elsito99 replied to elsito99's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Hey guys, Wanted to update you. I just received my new Vokey SM wedges, a 54.10 and a 58.08. I went with the 58 instead of the 60 as I feel my 60 is not as versatile. Really waiting for the day to end to head out to the range and try this puppies out. They look fantastic and love the weight and feel! Much better than my $5 Walmart lob wedge. -
WOW, VJ just plowed over everyone, and Villegas, Weir and Garcia were no match, none of them below par!
-
Hey guys, Wanted to share how it went. I was a little off starting because of the pressure of playing with him. Then settled down, ended up shooting a 92 but had an 8 on the back nine, total blowout hole (water, chunk). He played really well, shot a 1 over 73, but the wind was howling crazy. I really looked at his routine, this guy ALWAYS does the exact same thing before each shot, incredible. I am trying to get more and more into that routine. Another thing that impressed me was the lag putts, within gimmie range from tough spots. I think playing with guys like this motivates me a lot. I know I can be a very good golfer, he even liked my swing. I just have to get more length from the tee and hole those par putts. Anyways, all and all a very good experience. I am looking forward to playing with better players more. Hopefully I will break 90 before December which is my 2 year anniversary of starting playing. I think I can do it because I am playing more, first year only played about once a month. Plus I already shoot rounds like 42, 42, 44, so I am really motivated!

Personally I want Mike or Camilo to win it all.
-
I never play a round for money, but I like to play close to the pin, as I have a genuine chance of beating him since I am a good iron striker and he is playing from the tips. probably like $2-5 max per par 3
-
Yeah I was thinking about that, generally when I play with my buddies and we stick in the green close its a great shot, with a +1 it could be just an ok shot, not within 6 feet lol.
