  1. I honestly didn't know if I was watching Top Gun or a golf commercial.
  2. I started playing last year when I was eighteen. I was fortunate to start out with an instructor and receive lessons. During the summer I went to the range every other day. I would focus on applying what I learned in the lessons. My biggest problem is getting out of the tee box. I always try to crush the ball instead of just letting the loft and lie of the club do the work. My short game is decent and I can putt well. Typically I two putt but I can squeak out a one putt a few times during my round. For me I work on ball striking when I go to the range. If I can work on relaxing and can teach myself to slow down and relax I should be in good shape.
  3. That's my thinking. We honestly just need money for green fees. The rest will be out of pocket type things such as balls, tees and other golf necessities.
  4. There was an attempt for a club soccer team to receive funding but that was denied. I would like to think that golf is significantly different than golf and should be evaluated accordingly. However there are club sports that receive money from the school such as club hockey team, Ultimate Frisbee team and yes the Quidditch team.
  5. Hi everybody I hope everyone is having a good week so far. As the title suggests I'm in the process of starting a club golf team at my college and could use some advice. I attend a small liberal arts school in Ohio that has a collegiate golf team already. The problem that me and fellow golf fans is that many of us aren't good enough to make the team. We still want to have an organized group on campus that is recognized and has a charter with the school. The issue that I'm running into is finding reasons to separate that a club golf team is different than a collegiate golf team. Some ideas are that club team is open to beginners and advanced players. Also that my college is small and many of us are involved with varsity sports (football, baseball etc) academics and Greek life. and playing on a varsity sport would take too much time. There would be no cuts and everyone is encouraged to play. What do you guys think? Do I have a valid argument to prove my club is worth receiving a charter and funding?
  6. In my opinion the last hole needs to be challenging but not impossible. At my home course the last hole is a par four it's not too hard but it has its challenges. The way I see it the last hole shouldn't be impossible. It should be rewarding and should make you want to come back and play the course again.
  7. I haven't hit a duck but one time this summer my buddy did. He hit a line drive shot with no loft on the ball. Beamed a duck right in the bill. The duck walked around in circles for a little bit. We thought it received a concussion. After a few minutes the duck went into the water and swam away. My buddy felt terrible also it was a coincidence that he was playing a University of Oregon Ducks golf ball as well.
  8. Sounds great thanks all
  9. Hi all I have been playing golf for a little over five months and I have been loving it. I have come to the conclusion that I can use a 60 and 52 degree wedge for my short game. I want to know if the Adams Watson Wedge Pack would be a good route to go. I currently have Adams clubs and really enjoy them. What is everyone's opinion? http://www.worldwidegolfshops.com/prod/golf-wedges/Adams-Watson-Wedge-Pack-IX.html
  10. I'm glad that TM hasn't messed around with Adams brand too much. If they start to mess around with Adams then I will start to look elsewhere if I need to buy new clubs.
  11. Plus a new TaylorMade hat and a box or Pro V1s just to take an extra five strokes off.
  12. Yesterday Taylormade announced the production of their new "SpeedBlade" iron set. It comes with all of Taylormade's new technology and gimmicky concepts. Is anyone else getting tired of new stuff constantly being put out from that company? I understand that as a company the main objective is to gain income. I just feel that they are overwhelming the market with clubs that I do not see much difference between. (RBZ 2.0 and SpeedBlade) Maybe it is just me, I would love to hear all of your opinions regarding Taylormades recently announced new product line.
  13. Sounds like I just need to experiment and see what happens.
  14. Rickie Fowler, he gets it done.
  15. Today I played with my driver just as an experiment. I shot the highest score all summer long today. Just going to need to practice and take some more lessons. I can't get too mad at myself sometimes I have to remind myself that I just started playing and still have a lot of work to do regarding my game.
  16. I swear by Adams hybrids. The A12 OS hybrids that I have are excellent. The ball bounces off the face of the club with minimal swing effort. Check out any Adams hybrid they offer a large selection to choose from.
  17. Golfsmith overrun bins, I bought 24 balls for twenty bucks or I buy reclaimed balls from Sports Authority.
  18. 93 I played the front nine well but imploded on the back nine. I Couldn't sink a putt for my life. Hopefully this weekend will yield better results.
  19. I love Tierra Rejada located in Moorpark/Simi Valley, CA. It's right outside of Los Angeles. The course is always in great shape. The greens are fast but not too fast. The staff is awesome and no matter what I shoot at the end of the day I'm leaving happy. Also one of my best friends from high school works there so I get on significantly cheaper which is always nice.
  20. Without a doubt taking lessons is necessary to improve ones golf game. An instructor can film and break down ones swing and point out any flaws. Think of taking lessons as an investment and a lower score will be the return on the investment.
  21. My shots are hooking hard to the right. I think that I'm leaving the face too open. Even when i close the club face my shots still hook right.
  22. Hi everybody I have been golfing for the last six months and have been getting better each round. My question is the following, should I remove my driver from my bag? I hit my three wood 230-250 yards on average. I don't feel in control when I pull my driver to tee off. I'm willing to sacrifice the lost yards for a more controlled shot. What do you all think? Should I keep it in the bag or just keep using the three wood? Obviously I'm trying to gain more control and practice with my driver whenever I'm at the range. Thanks in advance for your comments.
