  1. I played DCI's, 845's, and x-14's before switching to my mizuno MP-30's. They are forgiving, yet very feel oriented. I am an avid supporter and advocate for Mizuno irons. I have not hit the 60's, but liked the MP-30's better than the MP-32's for not completely pured shots.
  2. I'm looking for Tiger to make a huge reversal of his previous Ryder Cup performances. Maybe it is because I think the guy is in a mental state right now that he actually refuses to lose. Maybe it's because I know he won't have to be paired with Phil (obviously a bad combination) or because I think he and Furyk make such a good team. Whatever the reason, I look forward to seeing Tiger take charge and become an emotional (and points) leader in this years Ryder Cup.
  3. Dude- any info you can get helps. I'm a pretty consistent golfer, and know my game, and distances really well. I know that I can generally club myself off of some of the guys I play with (meaning we hit the same iron distances). It is still beneficial to me to know what these guys hit before me- if a hole plays shorter than it looks and measures as it is more downhill than it appers, etc.... It has nothing to do with whether or not I know my 8 iron goes 155-160, it is about the shot you are looking at. If I can get any info to further reassure myself about the shot at hand, it is beneficial. I don't go out of my way to get club info- I won't look in someones bag or ask the question. BUT- if I see a guy pure a 7 iron 10 yards short, I know the hole is playing longer, and I need to adjust, or put a little more ass behind it. Every stroke counts, and if you can gain 1 by learning from playing mates or opponents, I'm gonna do it.
  4. I like Cal to sneak up and win the national championship. The have an unreal running back trio, and an amazing QB. If they can get through the opener in Knoxville, they are an interesting pick.
  5. Their TV advertising may be lackluster, but their on the course use of well endowed women in tight t-shirts with "BOOB BOOM" accross the chest is the best I've seen. There was a pack of about 8 of them at the US Open, so we followed Freddy for quite some time. Funny, I don't remember seeing him......

    Fake scores

If I were gonna cheat, it would be in the other direction so I wouldn't have to give so many strokes to sandbagger mother f'ers. People who represent a BETTER handicap than they actually have only really hurt themselves with their false pride and false ability. They will make fools of themselves in tourneys, and asses of themselves with friends and opponents alike. People who represent a WORSE handicap than they actually have, hurt my wallet. I'd rather see a guy learn a lesson about saying he is better than he is by getting throttled in a match, than have to pay one or lose to one that is a better golfer than he claims just so he can win. I would never do it (lie about my handicap), and have weeded out players who have bettered me by being untruthful about their handicap (online handicap search available in Virginia). Only people who don't fix divots piss me off more, and not by much.......
  7. I'm starting my search for a 5 wood today. After perusing the Taylor Made, Sonartec, Ping, and Mizuno sites, and going cross-eyed in the wave of specs and features & benefits they offer, I figured input might be a better place to start. I'm going to my pro shop to test some out, so the "find one you like and are comfortable with" comments, while appreciated, are not necesary. I'm hoping that fellow trap members have some "starting point" recomendations for my search. About my game- long hitter, high ball flight. Generally, I work woods right to left (right handed). I'm looking for a 5 wood to split time between par 5 second shots, and short par 4 tee boxes, where I'm tired of the 60 yard shot, and would rather have 90-120. Any help would be appreciated. Wood
  8. As unbelievable as it is, I have unfortunately (until recently )been a Seahawks fan all my life. I can't wait to see all the bandwagon jerseys and t-shirts now that we've had some success. I mean that- all fans are welcome to change their minds on there teams and join the bandwagon leading to the Super Bowl champs this year! We don't have to worry about the officials throwing some pity party for fat man Bettis this year.....
  9. When playing a round with a few $2.00 nassau's floating around, if someone asks me what I hit, I generally tell them. I don't see it as a big deal. Maybe it's a reflection of who I'm playing with, and we know each others games pretty well, but I really don't get asked that much. I never ask what someone else hit as I don't want to be in the habit of doing so come tournament time.
  10. Imagine a name dropping/ self self promoting contest between Theismann, Morgan, and Johnny Miller. I'm pretty sure I would rather whack myself in the nards with the reverse side of a claw hammer than be stuck listening to that. If I had announcer scheduling power, I would put the the three of them in the third annual lemon curd pudding eating contest, with Berman as an "on the field" reporter.
  11. On behalf of the Seahawks Nation, I must say- SCREW YOU EA SPORTS. THANKS FOR NOTHIN.
  12. Right now- you are right, he looks like a monkey f&$%$ing a football when he stands over a putt. But at one time he was a superb putter. I'm not positive about this, but wasn't he one of the best on tour around 2000, 2001? (I thought the announcers made mention of this at the PGA) I remember the beef with Phil a few years ago was he didn't make putts under pressure either, which he has overcome. Sergio certainly will find a "Rotella, Pelz" combo that works for him, and get through this putting problem. I'm not saying Sergio is gonna blow away Tiger (or even COME CLOSE), but to say he'll never win a major sounds absurd to me. He is one of the best ball strikers on tour, and with the level of year round coaching, workouts these guys have access to, it is just a matter of time before he gets his due. Eric- I'll take that bet, but if you say NEVER and believe it so much, I'll gladly collect that C- note from you in a straight up bet.
  13. I loved Inside The Ropes by Feinstein. All the inner workings surrounding the US Open at Bethpage was a great read. I'd recomend it to anyone.
  14. While I enjoy some of the players that are on the tour and the history of those players, I can't make myself care much about who is winning on a weekly basis. I know it will be me one day, but I don't like watching Doyle struggle to walk up the fairway, or the incomplete finishes of the older players. Maybe that will change in 5 years when Vijay takes over.......
  15. For my game, I've found that my driver sets up the rest of my round. Maybe it is because I leave short irons into most par 4's when my driver is right. I think it is a confidence thing. If I'm booming the driver, the rest of my game feels easier, and I score better. Unfortunately, I still have to MAKE the putt......
  16. Sorry Rafcin. Couldn't let that one go.... I'll try to remain more focused on the discussion at hand. I'd take Gulbis in the wet t-shirt contest. Damnit, I can't get my head straight. Where is the ritilin....... In terms of the mental side of golf, I'd still take Sergio. He, like many before him, have failed to match Tiger at the end of a tourney. I don't think this makes him an idiot, he just played bad, and putted bad, as is his modus operandi . He also had the misfortune of trying to do it from 1 stroke back. He is a proven winner, just not a winner in the majors, yet. I'm not saying Wie is not GOING to be a more mentally fit golfer over her career than he is over his, but his experience alone gives him the edge RIGHT NOW. It wasn't really long ago that a lot of the expectations that are being put on Wie were being balanced on Sergio too, as a phenom coming through the ranks. I don't think you get to be the #9 player IN THE WORLD, and having a 10-3-2 Ryder Cup record by not being mentally strong. This posts has all the potential in the world for being quoted/dissected/hammered in replies, but I'll be thinkin about that wet t-shirt contest anyway. Have a great weekend!
  17. I stopped listening to that prick after Tiger's first Masters win. If he comes on Golf TV, it's Sportscenter Time! Sorry to get off track.
  18. I'd take Sergio, broken English and all, in a, like um, grammar contest.
  19. Noticed you got rid of that other shaft to put the speeder back in- nice.

    Evian Masters

At least for another 1 year, 2 months, 13 days, 9 hours, and 38 minutes......
  21. If the greens are soft enough to show a ball mark, they can be repaired. If they are so hard as to not to be able to get a repair tool in the ground, then the ball did not leave a mark.
