  1. Well the bridgestone ball challeneg van yesterday...got rained out when I was 3rd in line. Crap. A downpour, so they had ot pack up. I did talk to the guys about it though. I told them I liked the e6, but it felt "heavy" off the tee. All they said is that because it is 3 piece. Well, most of the other 3 piece balls I have been trying don't feel that way. I retried the Hot Bite, better than my first attempt with it. I'll have to try the ingnite and DT roll. I do want something that stays lower. Gamer looks like it is worth a shot too for sure.
  2. So, I've been on a hyrbid kick lately and really am liking them. I have the older series Callaway 4h neutral that I really, really like. Got the Titleist 585h that is an amazing club, actually starting to like it better than the Cally I think. This thread likely entails various ?'s. I would like a 5 or 6 hybrid, Titelist doesn't make one, and Callaway only makes on with draw, not neutral. Swinging good I draw the ball, so the draw model is outta the ?. Now I am considering Nickent, but no dealers around me carry them so I have no way to try w/o buying first. Sure I can score one use don ebay. Do you think it is important that these clubs be the same, such as same maker, same shaft, etc? Or approach them more as we do our big woods?
  3. Good review and congrats on your new scoring!
  4. I have tried the reload Prov, $35 for 36 balls. Just not cool, rather play cheaper balls. I'm liking the Juice. E6+ next purchase.
  5. I can't even hit a 4 iron, so POWER to ya! Nice clubs.
  6. I too like the cool sound of them! I just couldn't bond with their stock shafts. I tried a used one with a different shaft and hit it great, but my ball flight was just too high. I'm sure I'll come across a used one with different shaft and snag it. Have fun!
  7. I'm going 8 too. I can use it for just about 98% shots up to 140 yds. Though lately I've been into my PW.
  8. They do Josh. I've done tons in the music gear biz the past years and musicians can be shady characters. I've heard TONS of horror stories. Such as sending an item (on or off ebay and paying via PP), buyer claims it is not as described, etc. Then PP locks the sellers account and usually takes the item. Everything is in limbo for months and months and the seller (those with good intentions) get burnt. Vice versa as well. Scary, just be careful with who you deal with.
  9. Thanks guys. All good thoughts along with my original train of thought. I figure if I'm really gonna do this, I have to keep at it hard the remainder of this year and next to get my game at a decent level. My goal is simply to go out and shoot low-mid 80's consistently and I think by this time next year I will be doing that if I can keep it up. I know I'll never be on the tour or win local championships, but I sure as heck do want to give anyone I play with a good go. All my pals and people I tend to golf with shoot from mid 80's-120, so I can do it! Now if I can talk my wife into an indoor simulator! We are looking at ne whouses now, so if I can't get near a course, that is going to be in my top 3 objectives for the new digs.
  10. Awesome! Have fun!
  11. I have an oil can, but I also have one of those NOmad Tour Van wedges (seller on ebay), where he custom grinds and does them in the black. All I can say is Ilove the looks of that club. For some reason I want to hit it. I almost bought the Nike for the black alone, but they don't offer the bounce I want. Mizuno has that chromed black thing, but it is not black.
  12. So, some of you may follow my weekly club follies and have a good luagh! I recently got back into the game after a good 6 years or so off. Best I ever was was mid 90's player, occasionally shooting 90-92. So this year, back at...started out shooting 120 all the time, one lesson (amazing, and gonna go back as I keep progressing) and I got back down to 100 range easily, stupid mistakes. So I kept trying and trying clubs. As I am now confident with my irons, I wanted something to really tell me if I was hitting good or bad, but not totally kill me on bad shots. I gave into the MP pressure. The MX are a greta club, but I had to go for it. Now with 3 rounds in, I can say I am in love with the 57's! They just look and feel right. Hit it bad and I know, but at least I know. I've plugged a few pins from my skill, and not blind luck like throwing a dart blindfolded as I always was before. Today I had a bad swing happening and paid the price, but it felt good actually! a shank is shank no matter what Some people tried to talk me out of it, even the shop owner (to go for something more forgiving), but I am so glad I went with these clubs! I am not looking for irons for a looong time, well maybe a few years if I can keep dwindling the score down.. So for all you guys who are medium to high handicappers, go with your heart and gut...if you love everything about the club of choice, it will likely lead you to an overall playing expereince.
  13. Could be the best suggestion yet! As above, the Juice played well all around for me, woulda liked a littlemore stopping action, but heh, who am I kidding I can't check the ball on purpose! Didn't seem as long as I thought it would be and seemed to go HIGH. I think z mix of Juice, E6, and ProV will work just fine. But, still gonna keep trying sleeves.
  14. Well just played the hot bite, nah, not for me. The Juice really impressed me! ANy clue why the e6 feels sorta heavy at times to me?
  15. I dunno, but I do sometimes take a mully off of the first hole!
  16. MAkes total sense actually. I used to love the Noodels, though I haven't used them since the Noodle first came out, ugh, how long ago was that! I started back playing this year (after about 6-8 years off) and tried the cheaper Fire. I actually liked playing, but was just too firm. I guess like everything, it is give and take unless you pay the price.
  17. I actually just got a 2 pack of the grene sleeve, think it is hot bit. And...the shop is selling them out at $25, so maybe I better try them ASAP and buy the rest up!
  18. Been trying and trying various balls the past few months. Of course, the good ole' Prov1 is the way tog o, but what about if you can't play the Prov or want something lesser? What I am trying to do is find a go to more affordable ball so I quit buying all types! I'll use the ProV1 when I'm swingin right or not in worry of losing it easily from hazrds or woods I do like the Nike One Platinum lately, then again same high $. TO me the NXT Tour seems a little too hard, but does have good ball flight. I have really been liking the Bridgestone E6+ lately. Feels good and decent flight. What about Callaways? Specific? I like the way the ProV compresses at impact, I think this is the main importance, of course it has to go decent. The E6+ just seems a little off, almost like it is heavier, maybe it isn't jumping off the face quick enough? WHo knows. So, $20-$25 range I guess. I'd list the ones I've tried, but too many. I did buy a box of Juice tonight, but just to try, I doubt they will when a permanent spot in my bag after a round. Our local shop has the Bridgestone ball fitting this weekend, I plan to sing up, but they'll likely say the E6+, as I do slice a bit on my drives still and have a lower swing speed around 90 mph. +/- 5 mph When I stop losing balls consistently I will just play the ProV's, but until then I am gonna stop hurting my wallet and helping the pond divers! For some reason Callaways are interesting to me tonight. I saw Wally World had the older models, CRX? or whatever
  19. Good to know, thanks Ysean
  20. So I can't use my little wire brush on my mp57's?
  21. I'd have to say my Cally FT 4hybrid. I just got it, but am loving the club. I use it for various shots!
  22. Dent, as a teacher, I think it is great you are spending $ on golf opposed to all the bad things you could do w/your $. Then again, you seem sensible enough abotu what it is you need opposed to want. Once you do get your own car, lots will change I assume. Depending on your support at home, only time will tell. Have fun and do what you love, not what others tell you to do. But, as you ignore old people (not saying you do), try to remember that one day a portion of what they preach to you will all make sense. As for the guys who are married and blame their wives for not allowing them to get new gear, sorry to hear that. I'm lucky enough to have a wife who doesn't care what I buy within reason. Clubs (not to mention guitar gear) come and go weekly at my house, just part of being married to me I guess. I do get carried away club purchases and swaps, but it is enjoyable to me just trying whatever I can. We all know how our minds tell us we "need" a club, etc and if that actually does the trick it is well worth it in my belief. Have fun and enjoy life!
  23. Pool/billiards
  24. I've always hit my fwy woods well from the rough. Just found the right hybrid for me, and finally am getting rid of my 5w. I still miss that awesome contact with a well hit 5w, but the hybrid is simply more consistent. I've been tyring numerous hybrids and like most things, have to find which one works for you. Most of what I tired I didn't hit as well as the woods.
  25. I almost snagged a new one for that deal, but just got a used one and saved even more bread.
