  1. Most scrambles don't require that you hit the same ball from tee to green. I know people that will use 3 balls. Distance/harder ball off the tee, softer/spin into green, super soft/spin around the green. IMO use the ball that you are comfy with. You go changing your game and you will find you are disappointed...IMO
  2. KZG would be another forged club to consider. They make a great blades to progressive cavity. Clicky Clicky....
  3. You know I understood what poor Johnny was trying to say. He just did not convey it very well. Rocco could be anyone one of us. He's not a "flat" belly. He is not a "long baller." He is just an average guy that for three days gave an above average guy a run for his money.
  4. I am going to venture a guess that you might be using say.... I don't know... WINTOTAL? (GRIN) I use to teach this software, say 5 years ago or more. Then went into appraising before going to the mission field and now in the motorcycle industry to pay for my mission trips. (Since missionaries don't get a lot of money. LOL)
  5. I say more power to you. If you can pick a spot and hit it SWEET! I think that is the problem with most golfers. They are trying to draw, or now fade thanks to Tiger, instead of just playing for a good shot. I played to a 7 handicap a few years back. I was better at drawing or fading on will. Now that I don't get to play as often, well I am happy for anything in the fairway. Now back on topic. IMO I like something with a thinner sole and minimal offset. (Not blade mind you...just more minimal.) Our fairways do get water, but in the heat of the summer they are still very compact, as our ground has a lot of sand. So the thin soul tends not to bounce as much. (IMO) So I tend to like the Ping "S" series and most of the Mizuno's, of course outside of my ISI ;)
  6. I figure between the 230-250. I have reached out and got to the 300 with some wind. I am working on accuracy and placement, so I will keep the shorter yardage if that is a trade off.
  7. I hit a demo HiBoreXL at Golf Galaxy and liked the way it felt. Plus they are under $150 just about everywhere.
  8. To start I wish I could hit my 3 iron the distance that some on here can. It is about 205-210 for me. If I could get it out close to the 220-230 mark in the fairway I would be in perfect shape on most courses here in the city. (Most dogleg about that distance.) With that said, I just purchased a Cleveland LDI 18* last night. I am hoping that this club will be that 210-225 type club. Something that stay will low in the Oklahoma wind, and yet some control.
  9. Not an issue. I will post up if courses change.
  10. No I work just down the road at Jim Anderson's Complete Cycles . No I grew up in KS. Live in Bethany. Commute to Del City!
  11. I am in no way a pro...we need someone who really can set this straight, verses my seat of the pants theories.
  12. It is not anything special. I work at a motorcycle shop and don't get off work until 6-630. I thought it would be nice to play 9 holes after I get off work. I then thought how fun it would be to do some sort of league. So hence the PGA. (Pathetic Golfers Assoc.) We will meet for the first time June 20th at MidWest City Muni. (Old midget meadows.) This will give everyone a chance to meet and go over the rules. I really plan on this being VERY laid back and just intended to have fun and not really win anything. The schedule I have laid out is between midget meadows and Lincoln Park. (Since they are the closest to our shop, in Del City.) Cost initially looks to be $15 plus $7.50 for a website to track the league. Everyone is welcome to come and play!
  13. HEY...I resemble those remarks!
  14. I am not as convinced that the lie of a putter effects the outcome as much as the loft and off set. I say that based on the putter never makes contact with the ground. (Or shouldn't.) That is what the major effect of lie is on irons. Toe down, grabs face opens, balls go right. Toe up, grabs shank, closes face, ball goes left. IMO I would say that the loft and offset would effect the average person more. Loft would depend. I have seen people putt that their first movement is to close the club head. This would de-loft the putter. So a higher loft putter might help them. Offset. If a person putts with their hands way ahead of the ball, pulling a lot of puts left. Then they need minimal offset. If a person tends to push puts, they need the offset to get their hands closer to the ball. I just, sort of, helped my wife fit a new putter. All I did was ask here which putter felt good to her, at address. I looked at how she held the putter. (IE flat to the ground, toe up, ect.) Then watched her putt a few balls. Had her try some offset and non-offset. In the end she would pull a lot of putts with the offset. She holds the putter VERY level to the ground. (She ended up with an Oddessey mallet.) I use a Ping Zing that has standard lie/loft. (Although my irons ar 5* up and 1 1/2" over.) I feel I have more control since it is minimal offset. I can open the club just slightly to push a putt or close it to try and pull.
  15. Any local golf smith should be able to accomplish what you are wanting. Phone book or google would be a good start. Once you find a good smith, keep them. This is a practice that is getting harder and harder to find a good trust worthy person.
