  1. I'm a bigger guy 5'10" 235 and I actually play a better back 9 than front. I don't have fatigue issues. My teacher had me focus on tempo and not swinging out my shoes. Since then I have been able to stay consistent as far as distance although I did lose distance across the board because my back swing is shorter now. But the good news is I have a repetitive swing and consistent ball flight. I have been working on losing weight and am down from 270 but I'm a long way from my 185 high school days.
  2. I did at one point late last year. I couldn't hit my driver and lost all confidence. But I noticed with my 3 wood that I was getting max 210-220. So I went back to work and basically reworked my driver from the grip up. Taped myself at the range and took notice on what worked and what didn't. I found my issue was I was trying to force myself to hit the driver on the upswing and when I struck down I was more accurate hitting much better. All of that was to say you may remove it but eventually you are going to feel like you are missing something not having it in the bag.
  3. I'm late to this thread but I found that although golf is considered a gentleman's game, some times it's no where near that. I was playing with a older man yesterday and he was telling me that he's a 4 handicap but he couldn't drive accurately or putt very well. I know it could have been a off day. He constantly made points about how he hits his drives 265-280 but I was out driving him all day. Most of my drives are about 230-240ish. I was hitting my 3 wood farther than him. Basically I just go out and play and don't worry about others.
  4. Lee Westwood -9 Jim Furyck -9 Vijay Signh -9
  5. Luckily I live in the Los Angeles area and I don't have to join a country club to play great golf courses. I can travel less than 20 minutes up to 2 hours and play some world class courses in Santa Barbara, Palm Springs, San Diego, Orange County and of course LA. So thankfully I have no idea what the draw is to belong to a country club
  6. I started hooking about 9 months ago. I couldn't figure it out and then one day a random stranger teamed up with me asked why I was so far away from the ball. I said I didn't realize I was far away from the ball. I started making an effort to stand more upright. No more hooking. Not saying you are standing far away from the ball. There are probably 20 different reasons why people hook BUT I could have solved my issue much faster if I just recorded my swing.
  7. I just signed up and I am playing around with it now adding my favorite courses. I like to keep all my stats on a separate scorecard but who knows I may love this way.
  8. I'd like to swing it just to see the ball flight.
  9. Ricky Fowler -9 Adam Scott -10 Phil Mickelson -11
  10. With golfnow, greenskeeper, golfzing and many other choices golf is much cheaper now than when I started playing just 6 years ago. When I first started playing you had to wake up at 6 am to call and book your earlier morning tee time. It's crazy how much less I spend now compared to just recent history.
  11. This was the shot from a 140 yard par 3. It hit and stuck.
  12. The ball I am testing is the Bridgestone B-330rx. The ball I am comparing it to is my normal gamer Callaway Hex Chrome +. A little background. My driver swing speed is about 90-95. My average pw distance is about 115. My average drive is about 230ish. If I catch it I can get out to 250-270 but that's not normal. The night I got them I went to a local par 3 Heartwell in Long Beach. It was empty so I was able to play both balls side by side. Later that week I went to play at Harbor Park in Harbor City/Wilmington. Distance is about the same for both balls off the tee and with hybrids. But I felt the Callaway was more forgiving on mis-hits. Durability is hands down the Bridgestone. That ball didn't rip shred or show any signs of fatigue. I felt like I could hit my lob wedge all day and that ball would just take it. I always felt the Callaway wasn't durable enough for me. Feel/sound is tough to judge. I am so used to my Chrome + that I just didn't like the feel off the putter. The sound the Bridgestone makes isn't pleasant to me. It's mental but you guys should know what I mean lol. Spin Hands down Bridgestone. When it hit the green it stuck. Which is great right? Yes but I am a 25 handicap and I normally play for roll out. I am so used to not getting spin like that. But that also may coincide with the fact that I am taking lessons and my ball striking is improving because even the Callaways are starting to check up more. I can get used to that. Launch angle was able the same. I normally have a mid-high flight and it was the same. Sorry for the long review. I have tested about 4 new balls out since the beginning of the year. 2 Callaways supersoft and x2 hot. The Taylormade Lethal and of course the Bridgestone Tour B-330-RX. Of them all the Bridgestone was the best and it's very close to knocking the Chrome + out of my bag. I love Callaway products but I love lower scores better. I will keep you updated.
  13. I'd love to test Bridgestone balls out. On the west coast there is no end of golf season. Sending pm right now
  14. I second trying them out. I bought 3 sets of irons before I found the set I love. Went from Cleveland cg3s to callaway x22 to Taylormade burner 2.0. All 3 are great irons but I actually got fitted for the taylormades before I bought them. And although I didn't have to adjust the lie I did need a stiff shaft. And the best part is I haven't outgrown them yet. I went from shooting 125 to 100 to close to breaking 80 and I still love them.
  15. But most of all lessons helped me keep my ball in play. I don't care about distance as much as hitting the fairway off the tee. But it does feel good when my golf buddies are asking for my instructors number lol.
  16. 3 lessons for me. I have been playing golf for 5 years and couldn't hit a drive over 250 with roll. Within 3 lessons I loosened my grip (held club so tight I hooked), improved posture, and worked on steadying my head in my backswing. Went out to play and started hitting 270 drives and longer. Small things can really make a difference.
  17. I just signed up for lessons. I started playing golf in 2008 and fell in love. Since then I have quit 2 times due to frustration. I just wasn't getting better. I got serious and started practicing more and more and I had small breakthroughs. Went from shooting 120 to 95 but that's it. Long story short in just 2 lessons I have broken 90 I'm more confident and my back hurts less because he changed my posture and grip first. Lessons are definitely worth it and I wish I would have taken them sooner.
