  1. Heard this strange tip on the golf channel. Try gripping the driver very tight as you approach and address the ball, then before swinging loosen up your grip quite a bit to where you have very light grip, he explained it as almost feeling like only the skin on your hands is holding the club, then swing away. I thought it was a very non technical strange solution, but I actually tried it and it did work. First shot hit a dead straight shot to the left rough, guess I was over compensating for the slice. Anyway my two cents worth.
  2. Tiger, the greatest golfer ever, has not hit his driver consistent for about 5 years. But he still wins more than anyone. I would love to know the inside story about his driver issues, because it's gotta be causing some major headaches in his "camp'.
  3. Sorry, what I mean is do you allow improving ones lie, either in the fairway or in the rough. I don't mean moving your ball to a better position (i.e. around a tree) but "rolling it" as others have coined, to improve your lie.
  4. Does anyone on a busy course play a ball OB or lost like a water ball, i.e., one stroke from point of entry?
  5. Do you all play the ball up or down? Or maybe up in the fairway and down in the rough.
  6. Yep, you all pretty much summed it up. Better than most people I play with, worried about slowing others down and "being in the way", feel the need to impress others, and just wishing that I could play my game and impress them. Maybe opening up to you all will do something, next step, psychologist, ha.
  7. Please help, I am a COMPLETELY different golfer when going it alone than when I join a group. I strike the ball clean on every shot by myself but when I play amongst others its a nightmare, balls go left, right, topped, shanked you name it. It's obviously in my head and I have done it for as long as I can remember. Should I just quit, play alone are just continue the suffering.
  8. Recently traded in x20's for a used set of mp67's with 6.5 rifle flighted shafts and am hitting at the flags like never before. I will never use anything but a mizzy from now on.
  9. yes the x20's are offset and very clunky in my opinion. If you like the callaway product look at the tours.
  10. deafheaven read post 9 and 12 please. Good luck on the course.
  11. Ok i'm back, I just got done playing 36 in the last 3 days. These irons dial into the flags like nothing I have ever seen. I have doubled my GIR. Hit a 4 iron uphill into the wind 191 yds. to 5 feet. I can now just trust my swing and go for the greens, I cannot believe the difference from the x20's. My uneducated opinion for anyone asking if they are good enough to switch from game improvement irons to a "players" iron is farking go for it. Just go to the range and go with your swing and you will be amazed at what you can do. I am juiced to go back out tomorrow and go for the flag. I never had this feeling with the "other" clubs. I am not just speaking for Mizunos now either, I believe most average athletically talented golfers could play "players" irons and be very happy. One more thing, I was playing the wrong shafts on my x20's also. The sales person who sold me them said that the uniflex would fit most all swings. I now know that was hogwash. I am now playing flighted rifle 6.5's and hit the freaking ball straight and smooth. If I hit a bad shot it is my fault not the clubs. What I am getting at is get fitted and if you have a good smooth swing get a stiff shaft and go for it. This is for titushem. You are will be verrry happy with those clubs. Let me know how you do! I feel like we have a bond, ha. Both going from x20's to mizzy's. I also have a callaway 3w 15 degree, which is a good club for me.
  12. Sorry to bore everyone with my personal info but I just wanted to stand on the highest mountain(couldn't think of a higher mountain than The Sand Trap's Forum) and proclaim that I fell in love today. I traded my year old x-20's (could never tell or "feel" where I was hitting them) in for a "used set of m-67's with rifle 6.5 shafts. I have hit twice now at the range, the last time just a few minutes ago and I can't believe it, it was surrounding my target with my wedge and grooving most of my 3-irons. Just had to tell someone and since I really don't have any golfing buddies you all get to hear me ha!
  13. stand about 5 yards behind ball and run up to it and swing.
  14. no i do not nope
  15. tried zf tees once, actually bought a whole bag. sliced the @#$@ out of every drive, bad slice to. went back to wooden tees and all is well it coulda been a bad day but i blamed the tees.
  16. ya, see that is the thing, i feel alot more "in control" if that is possible in this game, when i use irons!
  17. I have a adams insight pro 9.5* 65 gram shaft(I think i described it all) and freeking love it never hit so straight and so far used to have a callaway big bertha these were the long drivers choice this year not partial to any manufacturer either, i hit callaway x-20 irons
  18. yep me to i had always hit my 3 iron great, until everyone said you got to get the hybrids man i did and never liked them recently started to build a new set of irons and started with a x-20 3 iron, and love it
  19. how do you know that they are to high. i to hit my irons high but i actually like it because i can aim at the target and stick it sometimes!
  20. tough call, one that i have been pondering lately. i think if i could hit balls every day and play 4-5 times a week i would probably hit blades. as it is though i think i will stick with my x-20's sometimes winter can be pretty rough here, hate to have to try to hit balls in my basement just to keep my swing grooved for blades.
  21. please send pictures ha
  22. Must be getting swing tips from his new wife. oh, wait, she plays tennis.
