  1. Sounds like there's some mediocre 9 hole courses opening Saturday, sassamon trace in Natick and St Marks in Southborough. Will probably play them both by Tuesday if the rain isn't too bad
  2. Am also interested in this. Look like the storm is going to miss us and I'd like to get in 9 on Friday
  3. To follow up on this, turns out it wasn't the bounce I wanted changed but the sole relief. Took the guy 5 minutes and the result is exactly what I wanted
  4. So if I'm understanding correctly, I could be moving my hands out of the slot due to poor weight transition? That makes perfect sense, as I'm recovering from a broken ankle on my front foot and am still favoring it a little. Does this make sense? I'll definately try to get some video on my next trip to the range
  5. So I brought my brand new irons to the range today, and I immediately noticed after looking at the faces that I'm consistantly hitting the ball on the toe side of center. What causes this? Am I simply standing to far from the ball or could something else be causing it? input is appreciated, as it appears as though I'm hitting it on the toe even when it feels flush, and I'm playing a forged club.
  6. Best of both worlds . . . . Just add 7-ow of mp-4s and be done with it
  7. Not so sure of that. If you're putting $500 into an update to y our existing irons, I'm guessing you could get another$200 in trade on the 59's, you're almost all the way there. If you legit want to keep the 59's, update them, but if this is driven at all by a desire to get new sticks, take a hard look at it. The last thing you want to do is spend the $500 and still have an urge to get new clubs
  8. If we get enough guys and go during the week, I'm certain Cyprian will cut a deal. They run some crazy promotions to get midweek play. There was a time a few years ago where they were giving away a Callaway driver to whomever made a tee time for a foresome during the week. Yes, you read that right. All of the courses Jamo listed are are quality choices. I think Shining rock is a tick above the rest if it's in good shape, but I lean towards the other two because If people are traveling any distance I'm sure they'd like a range, which Shining Rock lacks.
  9. I'd be up for any of those. Really love Shining Rock. Cyprian can be a handfull for a bunch of guys that haven't played it before, as it seems like there's at least one blind shot on every hole. I think Highfields is the best golf value in the area.
  10. Blackstone outside Worcester could be fun
  11. 45 -100 works fine for me. I really prefer 65-80, but that's tough to find around here.
  12. Totally get your point about bounce, I play a SW with 16 degrees bounce for that very reason. I play the 2 clubs very differently. Perhaps bounce isn't what I want to change, it's more how the club looks when I set it down. When I put my SW on the ground, it sits almost like a half an egg, with a clear curve that can tilt one way or another. With the wedge I'm trying to replicate, it sits flat on the ground like a block of wood that's cut on an angle on 1 side. Does any of that make sense? I'm certain I only want it this way because I learned to play on crappy courses with lots of hardpan and wanted to hit flop shots anyway. I made the club for that and I've learned to play it in every condition. It's hard to believe that as much of a club ho as I am I'm afraid of change with that one club.
  13. I want the leading edge of the club to sit completely flush to the ground. The club is pretty close, but I haven't found a club the way I want it without getting it ground. My short game is far and away my strength as a player and I really want to get this club just the way I want it or I will end up pulling it from the bag in favor of my old wedge, which is past worn out after seeing probably 2000 rounds since my Dad and I assembled and customized it 2004
  14. I haven't hit the course with it yet, but I recently picked up a Callaway Org 14 cart bag as I will be using a push cart for the first time this year. I really like all the space it has, as well as he 14 dividers, and of course th 6 pack cooler!
  15. All, I have a question about my Trusty Rusty lob wedge. Even though it has the Tri-bounce sole, I'd like to find out if it could be ground down to a flat zero bounce. I have a wedge that I did this to myself years and years ago that I've played since high school, but I'm not willing to mess up a club that like by trying on my own. (I was 16 then and didn't know any better) so my questions are: - Does a club have to be forged to do this? - Is the Trusty Rusty Forged? - Can anyone that typically does this sort of work match the bounce on the wedge I'm trying to duplicate?
  16. I'd be interested . . . . Where are we looking at playing? Central Mass area?
  17. You're a little older than me but I remember Jon Connely. I went to and played for Morse High in Bath
  18. Do you have contact info for this person you can share? I have an old Newport I'd like to get cleaned up
  19. Are you from Maine? Any guys on your UMO team from Maine you remember? I might know them from juniors
  20. You get the athletes, a couple musicians, a couple authors. Beyond that, famous people that like golf have the good sense to live in a place where they can play year round. I saw Steven Tyler are Red Tail once. He'd been off the course a while and was having a pretty good time when I ran into him.
  21. Played multiple rounds with Lucas Glover, Charles Warren and Jonathan Byrd. also played with Brian Dawkins
  22. I currently play a913, but if I was to buy a driver today it would be the x hot 2. Love that club so easy to hit you can get really aggressive and it has a beautiful boring ball flight
  23. I have a 2013 Audi a6 and I can get 4 bags length wise in the trunk and I get 30 mpg on the highway with the 3.. For the person with a bad Audi experience, not sure when you had the cars but they have changed drastically and are now rated one of the more reliable cars available, and hands down the most reliable European car. I was concerned with reliability initially after driving Toyota products most of my life but the car has been great so far, 50k miles in
  24. These are my kind of shots and the best part of my game. If I'm on a course where I might see around this distance a lot, I'll have my 64 with me and 50 yards is about 90% with it. Otherwise it's a half swing with the 60 or a low spinner with the 56
