Top Flite Yellow Ball comment
jmoc replied to kuteazn1's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I've got some Wilson orange balls that I will use on certain courses at certain times (like when I'm playing solo) for the very purpose you point out, no one "mistakenly" hits or takes my ball, plus, it helps in tracking down errant shots when I'm a single..... jmoc -
David did not plan that shot, that would require him thinking about someone other than himself. I've had the pleasure of being around guys like him, no matter what happens, they planned it that way and they provide you some illogical, convoluted, nonsenseical explaination to back up their actions. You have a chance to put away your competition and you'd rather hit bad shot in order to teach your partner a lesson? Yea, right... jmoc

Favorite fairway wood? (fixed error)
jmoc replied to Timothy D Watson's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Down Warhound, Down , I'm with the minority here, the best woods were not listed, the ping i3 series (IMHO). Off Subject, If I hear another person (Johnny Miller) say fairway metals I'll release Warhound and will not be held responsible for the consequences. They are no more metals than irons are "steels" or "titaniums". I feel better now. ..... jmoc -
I've played less than 10 years and have gone back and forth between game improvement, super game improvement and traditional irons. The question you ask is, in essence, the question that taunted me. I could work the ball either way, driver, woods, irons. I would just go through spells of great play and horrible play. About 4 years ago decided to change my swing and build a more traditional repeatable swing that would, theoretically, be less prone to the day I'm off my timing or under the weather. I play 2 to 3 times a week and even at that, I could not make the change and I got worse. After about 3 and a half years I had to make a decision, did I want to enjoy the game and watch my ball sail towards the green or split the fairway, or, did I want to be a single digit handicapper? Love or Money? I've said all that to say this, You should buy equipment to suit the game your after. If you play once a month and don't have time to apply yourself, get the most forgiving clubs that appeal to your eye. If your a "player" that just hasn't shot under 100 yet, buy the blades and start diggin' it out of the dirt. If you're somewhere inbetween, buy whatever fits your eye and see what happens. In all honesty, I can work a Ping i10 or an Adams Tech OS, It's just the more forgiving an iron, the more you have to exaggerate the technique. Only you can determine what makes the game fun for you, follow your dream, and if your wrong, buy a new set of clubs. There is an old phrase that says the only regrets most people have are the things they never did/tried. That's my 2 cents.... jmoc

Gary McCord says you should look at your putter swing, it is a slow version of you "natural" swing, he says they should match up. I tend to agree, I putt going straight back and to the outside (not a lot, but noticable) and then approach the ball form the outside in, my face slightly closed, and the ball goes straight. I started messing with that to go more open to closed around the body and crashed my game, I was shooting 105 one day and 80 the next, I was a mess. I went back to my old putter and just naturally started putting the "old" way and that clicked something in my brain. I went back to the old swing and have been shooting better than I have in quite a while, shot 86 at the longest course in Wichita (and I am not long, 235-250 off the tee) in a 25 to 35 mph wind, reached par 5s in three, into the wind, that I'd never reached on a calm day. Have a look at you putter, just a thought..... jmoc

There are various styles of super game improvement irons out there, so I would agree that you should hit all you can and decide if you like the all hybrid types (Cleveland Hi-bore XLi), the wide sole irons (Ping G10), mixed hybrid/wide sole (Adams A4OS, Cobra Transitions), something titanium (Ping V2 and others) or a traditional Over Size set (Wilson Di7). I know TGW.com will give you 30 days to trade your purchase back in if you are not satisfied for full price store credit. Dick's has a pretty good selection and they can fit you there and you can order a set make up that suits your game. I can't say what you should get, but if you catch them thin then you should get something that has it's mass/CG as low as possible, maybe the Cleveland XLi, but that's your call. BTW, Jack Nicholson hits the Hi-bore irons, that's got to count for something ...... jmoc

Carry bags...why is yours the best?
jmoc replied to Doctorfro's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I started out a Ping man and am still loyal to that brand, but I just could not find a Ping Bag that really fits. I have a Tennessee Hoofer and they made a digital ADU Hoofer last year so I had to have that one too. They are great if you carry all irons and only a couple of woods, the Hoofer gets crowed real quick. The new models have added a pencil pcoket and fully enclosed water bottle pocket, but have not addressed the putter "protection" issue. Guys (and gals) that don't care about their clubs banging together and getting a little dinged up will do well with this classic. To me, Ogio has done their homework and produces the "Land Rover" of golf bags. Water bottle pockets, a place for scorecard and pencil, fully divided club areas with putter protection, and you can load it with a driver, 5 hybrids, irons, putter and headcovers and still have easy access to any club you chose. The Grom is the fence sitter of the bunch, not "too" heavy to carry (but heavier that most) and not so light that it blows over in the wind or tips over on an incline. When I'm carring 18 I chose the Vaporlight, it gives me everything the Grom does, just in a smaller lighter package. Next up would be the Ozone, a good split between min and max.... jmoc -

This driver does like a smooth swing. Trying to force it does not get good results. It does have that College World Series sound at impact.... jmoc -
Let me put it this way, Most men don't like it when another guy comes up and starts teaching their wife/girlfriend how to play without so much as acknowledging their presence, and they don't like it when another man talks to their balls. Golfgal hit on this earlier, what is acceptable at a Hockey Game is considered rude on the tee and through the green. Anything more than "shot", "bite" or "turn" starts getting into that "your talking to my ball/wife/girlfriend" zone. When you are hitting your shot, in golf, it is courtsey to give that person that time and that space, especially when it's your competitor..... jmoc

Got out yesterday in 20 to 35 mph winds (it's Kansas, it's normal) and had a pretty good run with the driver. The guy I was playing with is a good bit longer than me (30-50 yards), but he was only more than 10 yards ahead of me once. I don't know how much I'm gaining yet (because no distance that day was normal) and I don't think I'm 30 yards longer, but this driver is definitly longer... jmoc -

We are Americans first, the election is over and soon it will be time to govern. But today we give props to the President Elect and those that voted for him. This is your day to enjoy and I don't begrudge you that, congratulations....... and ditto Smallville...... jmoc

Took care of that Saturday, first time I've early voted, walked right in. But I'm wearing my sticker today, I've stocked up on soda and popcorn to watch the returns, but I will be switching over to GC at 9 to see BBX.... jmoc

How about when the slow group is playing from the Blues! I came up behind a twosome and they teed off from the blues, the guy that was decent was not longer than me, and this course has several forced carries, 12 in all. He was barely clearing them and his pardner was dinking it 30 to 100 yards at a time. Luckly enough, the way the course is set up I can hop over to another hole and play my way back around. I'll give a group 2 holes to get their act together, sometimes they speed up or let me through, then I'll call the proshop. If the proshop won't come out (more common on city courses these days) I'll hop past them and come back and play that hole later.... jmoc

I'll check it out at home, my work comp blocks the inserts. ganjagolfer is like the Harpo Marx of Sand Trap, only we can "hear" him. Is that you with Tiger in your pic?... jmoc

I'm currently playing with the Tech OS and they are great, I think they are basically the A3's with Titatium faces. I can't seem to hit their 3 and 4 hybrids, that's why I have the Bridgestones in their place. Another option is the Wilson Di7, I have a set of them and they compare well to the Adams, IMO. You can't go very wrong with either.... jmoc

Don't know how I missed this one, but on 2 July in Colorado Springs BHO said the following: "We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded." Sorry if we've already covered this one, I searched but could not find anything. Any thoughts on what he meant by a Civilian National Security Force just as strong as the Military? Google search only comes up with a few blogs and the speech on Youtube, the press seems to want to leave this one alone..... jmoc

The tour is all black, the face and bottom as well as the top. It is also supposed to give a more penetrating ball flight as opposed to the traditional flight that comes off the face then angles up a bit and then comes down, the tour would come off and stay more on the angle (up) it came off at until it starts going down. Got out again on Sunday, and it is me, not the driver, I'm catching it too much on the upswing and low on the face, landing about 155 out and then rolling to 230 or so. That's about my normal distance on a really good drive (190-200 carry and 25 roll), that tells me this thing is long for sure, I just need to get it airborne. I'm messing with my swing right now, usually I catch my driver level or just barely on the upswing and high on the face, so I would get these results (although less distance) with any driver I'd swing now. Did catch it on No. 2, about tree top high and, once again, about 7-10 yards past my best drive on that hole. I did not smack the fire out of it, just nice and smooth. Got my eye on a regular 12* w/ senior shaft on ebay, if I can snag it for $50 or 60 I'll do it and compare the two. I know you'll post info on your outing here shortly, looking forward to it..... jmoc -

That's a rather harsh and borderline personal attack. I generally quote what the man (or authorized individuals speaking/campaigning on his behalf) has said or can be verified having done/voted. Granted, the commentary that follows is my own opinion, but I believe that is clear to most readers. Clinton did raise taxes, retroactive to before he was president. The BHO Tax Increase numbers I've posted are actual statements made and verifiable, hardley BS. I've even avoided using Fox, finding my back up at other sources. It is clear we will not change each others minds, and I do not belieive that to be the point of these posts, but at least between a few of the posters, civil discourse can be had... or perhaps not.... jmoc

Well, mixed reviews. I don't know if you are getting the Tour (all black) or the regular driver, but I got the Tour 12* with Senior shaft (what I normally use). The reviews all said the tour model had a more penetrating ball flight, and it sure did. First swing I caught a little of the green ball first but it still went about as high, straight and about the same distance as my other two "longer" drivers. I was not swinging well and got some great distance but not a lot of height. The final hole I put a better (and slower) swing on it and launched it about 5 yards past the furtherst I've ever hit off that tee. So it has the potential to be my longest driver, but I'm going to need to swing it a couple of more times before I make an offical decree. Let me know how your's treats you... jmoc -
Radio interview in Colorado on Friday, check youtube :, and http://newmexicoindependent.com/7856...obama-tax-plan BTW, the last time BHO got the opportunity to vote on a tax increase the Dems put up, the "no tax increase" line was $41,600. Why do I have the feeling I'll be seeing that number in a press release sometime after 5 Nov?... jmoc
-
I'm thankful for all the posters trying to help BHO keep his tax cut numbers straight, but I'll just go with the numbers as given by the Messiah or his Chosen. Here goes: Obama - tax cut for under 250K Obama - tax cut for under 200K Biden - tax cut for under 150K Richardson - tax cut for under 120K We are now down to less than half of what his original Tax cut number was. We would all do well to remember Clinton's famous speech one month into his Presidenticy, when he campaingned promising a "Middle Class" tax cut and then he said "I tried... I tried as hard as I could" but he could not find a way to keep his promise. Then made his Tax INCREASE retroactive to before he was president. Can't wait for my chance to be "unselfish" and "patriotic" at the same time...... jmoc
