  2. i'm a right handed golfer who has trouble keep the left arm straight during my backswing. i'm just not flexible enough and i tend to bend my arm slightly at the top of my swing. you guys have any stretches or workouts to help me keep it straight? thanks!
  3. thanks for the move, didn't realize there was already a thread
  4. My feed has gotten boring, would love to see your golf pics! my name is @MikeRanaldo
  5. when i was much younger (around 12) i used an interlocking grip, but now (25) i use the ten finger grip. i feel like i can control the club more, and i can swing harder because i have all of my fingers on the club
  6. Hey guys, i just had a concern about a shank that i had in a round i played on monday. As i was hitting my 52 degree wedge on the practice range, i noticed that i shanked 3 in a row off of the hosel. i had already been warmed up, and my swing didn't feel out of the ordinary so i just thought it was random. until the 4th hole when i had 75 yards in, so i grabbed by 56 wedge and went to hit my shot and i shanked it off the hosel again. can anyone give their opinions as to what's happening? i didn't feel like i was swaying my hips too far forward or anything weird. thanks
  7. good question man. usually i just try as best as i can to forget what happened on the last few holes, and pretend like i'm starting on #1. it's easy to let the previous holes affect you, that's why golf is such a mind game. when i played in college it used to bother me more, because i didn't wanna come in with a bad score, but you'll learn to move on and start fresh. hope this helps
  8. sorry for the late response. i'd recommend using the 56 for shots out of the sand, shots out of the green-side rough since you'll ned as much loft as possible, shots where you don't have much green to work with and you need to stop the ball quickly, or shots over a bunker. i'm not saying that's all you can use it for, but those are the more important circumstances. i probably forgot a few, but these should help
  9. hey guys, my swing feels good to me, but when i have one of my buddies record it, it's obvious that i'm coming slightly across the ball from outside-in creating a fade. it doesn't feel like that, but the video doesn't lie. anyone have any good drills to help practice coming down on the correct plane? thanks
  10. i have this driver, i love it. it's 8.5 and it's set at C2. i usually hit it between 285-300 with a slight draw. nothing really to complain about, much better than my old one. i love the customization that you get with it
  11. i would probably hit a 3 wood off the tee. i can carry that around 250 or so, sometimes more. that would give me a wedge into the green. i might hit 5 wood, if the hole is playing downwind, i'd probably be able to carry the 225 bunker
  12. i haven't seen him do that, but that's what i was hoping to read. i'd rather stretch and get loose than just swing a club for 15 minutes. i try and at least putt a few times just to get a feel for my stroke
  13. Just wanted to know if you guys had any good techniques for warming up when you're short on time. whether you're running late, or you get to the course and get a tee time right away. would you prefer to stretch first? putt? take some practice swings?
  14. i agree, that's the golfsmith i go to regularly, and sometimes i'm able to have questions answered, and other times it's impossible. overall a good store with good knowledge
  15. freshman year of college i got into a weird groove where i'd hit some 100 yard shots fat. i started focusing on hitting the back of the ball, as opposed to where the ball touches the ground, if that makes sense. it basically just brought my point of focus forward and helped me hit them crisp. i still think about this today every once in a while
  16. my swing usually takes a hole or two to fully get into the groove, and then i stay consistent throughout the round. but that just comes with practice and endurance. i have noticed that on super hot days, i get a little tired by the last couple holes. at that point i just don't swing as hard and club up if i have to
  17. Played the first round this past weekend with my irons and their new grips. super tacky, my grips were about 7 years old so it was definitely time to replace them. night and day difference. clubs didn't slip in my hand at all. definitely recommend them to anyone looking for new grips. they are a little bit soft, compared to the rock hard golf pride half cord, but i love the soft feel
  18. going left for a righty is a hook, not a slice. now i'm confused lol
  19. jesus that's insane. the only thing i can think of is that it's a knockoff. i've never seen any driver be crushed like that on the toe. good luck though, hopefully you can find a replacement
  20. i might recommend upping the loft to 9.5 or 10, it'll put less sidespin on the ball. you might also be coming outside-in on your downswing, putting the spin for a slice on the ball, or you might not be squaring the clubface up at impact since you said that even when you hit it good it goes right. is it a bad slice? or just a fade. good luck. hope this helps
  21. a 52 and a 58 should be fine. you should go back to the golf store and ask the guys working there about bounce, and which bounce will be good for your swing
  22. not 100% sure that this could fix your problem of hitting it fat on the course, but maybe you have the wrong bounce on your wedges for your swing? i'm no expert on bounce, and honestly forget how it works but maybe that could be an issue. hitting off of mats at the range can offer a sort of false sense of hope since hitting it fat will still get the ball going a decent distance. and idk about a 48-50 degree wedge, since most pitching wedges are similar to that loft anyway. but good luck man and keep practicing!
  23. there's a happy medium that's not too narrow and not too wide. making a full swing with a narrow stance can make you lose balance, and making a full swing with a wider stance can restrict your movement, just find what's comfortable for you and stick with it
  24. i didn't really read many of the responses, but i don't think aiming at the flag is a good idea. what if the flag is tucked behind a bunker and it's only 5 paces from the left edge, and left of the green is water and you have right to left wind blowing? even if you hit it dead straight it's probably either going to be short in the sand, or in the water. for beginners, i'd say just aim for the center of the green, and for more advanced players, you all know what to do
