  1. I agree with you. That is why there is so much anger and frustration in American voters! A curse on the ESTABLISHMENTS of BOTH parties!
  2. Today must be "golf day" at the Wall Street Journal. Here are the two articles in today's edition: 1. On page 1 of the main section, there is an article entitled "IRS Tees Off on Golf Corses' Green Tax Claims". In it , Richard Rubin describes how the IRS has hired appraisers, wetland experts, and other specialists to contest golf courses that try to take deductions for environmental expenses to make the courses green and protect the environment. 2. On page D6, there is an article written by Brian Costa that describes Jordan Spieth's tournament schedule for this year. He will be traveling to 9 countries in 5 continents over the next 11 months. Gary Player, aka "The Black Knight", was the first professional golfer to travel around the globe to compete in tournaments. In fact, he has kept track of the total mileage he has traversed. Just ask him and he will give you the up-to-date figure. Asked if he might join the European Tour at some point, Jordan answered, "Who knows? This sport can take you anywhere." As the article points out, Jordan seems almost immune to jet lag. This is critical in his ability to not only play in International events, but to play well. He is unbelievable.
  3. There are many nice things about Heron Creek: 1. The course is in excellent condition as the owner, Scott Cook, is the Superintendent and works hard to make it as nice as he can. He has a good crew and they are always out there, grooming the course, not just mowing it. 2. The members and regulars are friendly people who understand the rules about "Ready Golf". I have never caught up to a group that did not wave me through. 3. The course truly rewards good shots and punishes wayward ones, since the area after the rough is thick wet underbrush. If your ball goes there, wave "bye bye" because you will never see it again. 4. Andy, the cook, really loves his job and his cooking gets a "10" out of 10 rating from me. Some people come to the clubhouse to eat, and they did not even play golf that day. 5. All the barmaids and bartenders are excellent, AND THEY STOCK UTICA CLUB beer, my favorite. It is brewed right near here in Utica, NY, and the Matt family also brews the famous Saranac beers! 6. Scott and Carrie, the owners, LOVE to throw fantastic parties. I was invited to their Halloween Party, and it was the BEST HALLOWEEN PARTY that I have ever attended. When I got there, I almost could not pick out my buddy, Bob, because of the mask he had on! In fact, I was the only party goer who did not have a costume. The dance floor was always packed, since they hired a band to provide entertainment!
  4. Thanks for the compliment. As I have posted before, my wife says that I am NOT funny and people laugh because they laugh AT me and NOT WITH ME. I told her that is the funniest thing she has ever said in 36 years of marriage to the PEZ, HIMSELF!
  5. OK, guys. Enough. I have stopped dashing around now! Just do NOT take CAPS or exclamation points away from me!
  6. GOTCHA!
  7. I went there when it was held at Locust Hill. Almost all the TOP players showed up because it was a good preparation for the US Open. Over the years, I got to see Annika, Lorena, Dottie, Juli, Natalie!,Paula!, Patty Sheehan, Laura Diaz, Betsy King, etc.
  8. I will mark my calendar!
  9. Thanks! I will try!
  10. Mine does not exist any more. It was the Rochester International
  11. I really miss the BC Open. I am glad the Dick's tournament is at Enjoie's, however.
  12. He does NOT have to. I am proud to be his surrogate and THE OFFICAL PROTECTOR of the Heritage of THE ONE AND ONLY HAIG! I qualified for the position first by being from Upstate New York. The HAIG was proud to be from Rochester. I am proud to be from Ilion in Herkimer County (the same County as Wayne Levi, 1990 PGA Tour Player of the Year!). It's a DEAL! I promise to NOT start such threads. I do NOT promise to NOT do PEZ replies to threads started by others! I will see you in Florida on Payne's birthday, January 30! Will I be your guest for 18 holes? NO CART needed---I walk and carry my own bag!
  13. Seriously that is s violation of logic. Nelson did retire one year after 1945. By your reasoning, Jack retired in 1963. Tiger will be glad to hear that. With 14 Majors, he will move from 3rd place to SECOND, behind Hagen's 15 (I refer you to my "Happy Birthday, Haig" thread!)
  14. MAN-----I am READY for Florida! Today's HIGH was 11, and the temperature will be in minus figures tonight!
  15. I know Lord Byron played in 1946. I did NOT write that he retired IMMEDIATELY after winning 18 times with 11 in a row. I simply wrote that he retired AFTER he accomplished what NO ONE has ever matched and NO ONE ever will!
  16. Thank you! Why did Spell Check not catch that? Doesn't it know French?
  17. My reply was from a book about entrepeurs. Bascially, it said all people could be divided into one of three groups: 1. People who are entrepeneurs. 2. People who want to be entrepeneurs. 3. People who think entrepeneurs are NUTS. The DONALD and I fit into category #1. That should explain A LOT about our behaviors. Into which category do you fit?
  18. I am at the New Hartford library. How am I doing on formatting and paragraphing?
  19. I agree with you. I do not know, either. I hope not, but I felt the same way with Lance Armstrong and then felt betrayed when he finally admitted it.
  20. My son has been to the Players (the darned rascal did NOT invite me----actually he was there with his college golf team from St. Lawrence). I would love to go. Apparently, the World Golf Hall of Fame is not too far away, in St. Augustine. I would really, really love to go there. Have you?
  21. I just respect THE HAIG, and was too busy with the holidays, work, and family to send a Happy Birthday greeting. That is why I apologized in the very beginning of this thread. The only thing that I am in desparte need of is a trip to Florida to play golf. I am taking up a collection to finance the trip. Would you like to help a poor, 67 year old who is in desperate need?
  22. Here is the quote in USA Today by Steve DiMeglio on December 29, 2015: Tiger: "IF I'm able to prepare and do the things I need to do to WIN a tournament, I will Play. If I can't prepare, I won't play." So he admits that it is unknown if he will be able to play. It is out of his control, and up to the amount of pain he has and what the doctors recommend. The desire is there, but the physical ability to perform may or may not be there. We will all know in the next few months.
  23. Yes and no. If we use winning Majors as the goal, Tiger has not won one since the 2008 US Open. He has always made it clear that one of his main goals was to win Majors. In 2008, he was crippled when he won the US Open. Since then, he has not won even one. He was 33 when he stopped winning Majors. He was not retired yet, but he was nowhere near the golfer he was in his prime. Looking back, he might admit that he should have retired then. I know he has a lot of competive desire and worked hard to come back, but desire cannot overcome physical problems.
  24. I am contrasting the3 I named with the following: Julius Boros, Sam Snead, Fred Couples, Colin Montgomerie, etc. Some golfers stay relatively injury-free and play into their 60's or 70's. Others are done before they get to 50. With the exception of Monty, the golfers I just listed have won Majors. What is my point: some golfers choose to retire early and some are forced to. If Tiger does have to quit, then it is because he is forced. It is not a voluntary act. We can argue as to whether he swung too hard in his youth, and is now paying the price. Regardless, he MAY have to retire even though he does not want to.
  25. I apologize to Walter Hagen, of Rochester, NY, and all TRUE GOLF FANS. On December 21, I should have posted this thread since that was Sir Walter's birthday. He was a GREAT CHAMPION and an entertainng one as well. He won 15 MAJORS----2 US Opens, 4 Open Championships, 5 PGAs and 4 Western Opens (the Masters did not start until 1934, and the Western was considered a MAJOR by the players and the journalists of that time). So, THE HAIG is second to Jack by 3, and ahead of Tiger by 1.
