  1. Day 11 hit for an hour on a simulator. My trouble spots right now is driver and long irons. Fairway wood and mid to low irons are serviceable. Slowed down my swing to stay more in balance. Slicing my driver right now, but getting it straighter. Most are on right fairway or first cut, a lot better then way way right. Going to try a new driver tomorrow, losing confidence in my old driver. It may be time to upgrade.
  2. Day 10 went to the course and spent an hour around the chipping and putting green. Chipped with 8 iron bump and run for 15 minutes. Lob with 58 for 15 minutes. Hit short putts clockwise and long putts from across the green. Getting a better feel for distance. Goal was to 2 putt from a long way. Started off bad with a lot of 3 putts, but after 20 minutes or so I was getting them in closer for a more bareable 2 putt.
  3. Day 9 Played a round of golf today. Horrible day for the most part. Need more work on driver, I hit hooks, slices, hit ball into ground, and sky the ball. I pretty much hit all the shots other then straight. There is light at the end of the tunnel, I was getting all the bad shots out of my system and was getting a little better as the day went on. my irons were good, but I lost distance roughly 10-15 yards. So i had to go up one club on all my shots. most of them were straight down the target, but then falls out of the sky short of the green. chipping was rough in the beginning, but was able to hone it in as the day went on. I was starting to get my feel back in the short game. Next time i go to the range I need to work on driver and long irons. mid to short irons were working fine and need to just get my strength back up since i haven't played a round for about a month and have just gotten over my 2 week sickness.
  4. Day 8 putted for 30 minutes in living room. I have ball return putting aid. Worked from 5,10,15 feet. My carpet has a straight line so I put my ball on the line and put cup on line as well. Working on feel and pace of putts. Got my bag and clothes ready for tomorrow’s competition. Will wake up at 5:30, be out the door by 6, get there around 6:20ish, register and practice a little, tee off at 7:06.
  5. Day 7 Finally made it to the range. Worked from 58 all the way up to driver. Spent about an hour on the range. Could use my range time, but so far not so bad. Making pretty good contact. Putted around a bit and worked from 5,10,15,20 feet clockwise. I have a competition this Saturday and will see if my game holds up.
  6. Day 6 put swing weight on 5 iron and worked on swing. Getting a good stretch, and smoothing out my swing. Exaggerating rotation so it feels easier to get a full shoulder turn on back swing and Get to 280. Did that for 10 minutes and then took off weight and swung for another 10 minutes. Feels effortless without the weight and can swing easier.
  7. Day 5 chipped in backyard with 54 degree sand wedge. Same thing as yesterday when I used 58 degree lob wedge. Put ball up front, middle, and back. Practiced all 3 positions with square and open face. Practiced for 30 minutes at 10, 15, and 20 yards. Going to try to make it to range tomorrow or day after.
  8. Day 4 chipped I’m the backyard while waiting for laundry to finish washing. Spent 40 minutes chipping with 58 degree wedge. Hit ball up front, middle, and back. Also square and open face. Chipping to my tree 10 balls each shot then take a few steps back and repeated the process. Starting to get some feel for the short game again. Will try 54 tomorrow and work my way up.
  9. Day 3 worked on my getting my backswing in the correct slot for about 25 minutes. used mirrors and app to get it in the right slot. feels weird right now. not a lot of confidence in my game, I have it in the right slot for the most part. Hit some yellow and black skilz balls into the side of the house, but doesn't feel like the real thing. Will try to get to the range tomorrow.
  10. Day 2 played on the course and took mulligan on my bad shots. had to take most mulligan for drives and approach shots with wedges. My feel is slowly coming back, I am hitting a little weaker then I usually do, but after a 3 weeks of no exercise and stuffing my face on vacation I am really paying for it now. stamina isn't up to par, and will be working on cardio as well.
  11. Day 1 Just got back from a 3 week vacation without touching my clubs. Starting from scratch and working my way up again. Feels weird and unnatural right now. Putted in living room. Practiced 5,6,7,8,9,10 feet make 20 and moved on.
  12. Day 4 4/1/18 was going to chip some more, but I think I have a pretty good feel and will do more tomorrow on an actual golf course. Today I putted indoors on carpet. Did well because I have a line in my carpet to guide me. Putted from 5, 10, 15, 20 feet for about 40 minutes, 10 minutes each. Tomorrow is comp play, we will see want I have to hone in on for 2018 golf season.
  13. Day 3 3/1/18 continuing with chipping with 50 degree gap wedge. Spent about 20 minutes out there before Christmas the rain came down. I really need to get to course or hit to an actual green so I can adjust to game play and see the roll out distance.
  14. Day 2 2/1/18 Chipping in backyard with 54 degree sand wedge while waiting for my load of laundry to be done. did a variety of shots: open face with ball up front to lob it to the spot, back in the stance to run it in low, etc... will be working on the 50 gap wedge tomorrow. feeling more confident with my new vokey wedges i got for christmas. takes some adjusting since i have been using nothing but cleveland all my life. vokey isn't bad, but i have to get use to the balance and weight of the clubs until i feel like one with it.
  15. New Year, New Me. Chipping in backyard for 30 minutes towards my tree with my 58 degree lob wedge. Next few days im going to be going through my clubs 54, 50, pw, 9, and 8. Happy New Years everyone, hope everyone achieves there goals.
  16. Uhh, these guys you are destroying, what scores do they usually shoot? they had low handicaps, they were on the golf team with me or for another high school. You have a 28 HDCP, yet you hit the sweet spot consistently on your irons? for the most part, yes. thank you for the suggestion, but I hate the feel and look of game improvement irons. which ones do you suggest?
  17. you know it is a problem when golf courses have to change the original and beautiful layout to accommodate professional competition.
  18. Anyone have excel for windows or numbers for mac? need a formula for handicap, trying to keep track of my handicap.
  19. that's right, just keep your balls with your balls.
  20. in the cold i use a low compression golf ball. or keep my regular balls in my pocket to keep it warm and switch every hole. I have those 5 hour hand warmer things that you shake and they stay warm. I keep my ball in my pocket with the hand warmer.
  21. mostly brand names. probably 75% brand name and 25% course logo
  22. sounds like you have a fast swing, you are looking at a stiff or x stiff shaft. if you're getting used, you are limited to what's available. If you plan on playing more then once a week or once a month, you should look into game improvement irons, something with a cavity back with perimeter weighting. This will help slightly missed shots stay more on line and won't lose as much distance. On that note, I also recommend players blades. This will tell you exactly what you are doing wrong, you get instant feedback. If you aren't hitting it pure, you will know by the exaggerated slice or hook. This will help you find your faults and work on actually hitting it in the sweet spot. Game improvement irons is like a bandaid for your swing. My 1st set of irons were from a garage sale and they were blades. I hated golf at the start, and everyone else was beating me and improving fast with there game improvement irons. Fast forward a few years later, I am destroying all my friends because I learned to play with blades and learned to hit the sweet spot more consistently. When we compared our irons, my iron wear was dead centre, while there iron wear was all over the face. They played off the crutch of the game improvement irons and never had to improve because the club was doing all the work. If you don't want to get good and just play and have fun, I recommend getting game improvement irons. blades take time, and it won't be fun in the beginning, but very very rewarding in the future. I highly recommend you focus more on your putting and chipping, this is where you can shave a lot of strokes.
  23. that can work, but I would recommend (44, 48, 52, 58). or space out your wedges more, (44, 49, 54) or (44, 50, 55). Depending on the course I am playing, shorter courses i remove longer club (hybrid, fairway wood, long iron) for wedge (46, 50, 54, 58) or longer courses trade wedge for hybrid or fairway wood and use (46, 52, 56)
  24. LSW? I would like a copy, thank you.
  25. I have a tournament in a week, what do you guys do to prep the week before a big tournament? What do you each and everyday leading up to the tournament? What should I focus on, what should I practice? Go to the range more, play more rounds of golf, mix both, massage, rest, workout, play alternative sport, etc...? Thanks for your help, looking at things I can do to maximise my chances of winning he tournament.
