  1. I had a few strange experiences in winter time when it was cold. Can golf balls freeze?
  2. Can some one explain me where the advantages or disadvantages are in cocking the wrists early / late in the takeaway?
  3. Does someone know why Links 2003 was discontinued? It was a great Golf game.
  4. I found the following: The Importance of Alignment One of the most common problems my students come to me with is poor alignment.. The absence of consistent alignment causes many swing compensations where the player is attempting to make the ball go to the target. If the student is aimed left, they will attempt a swing to make the ball go back to the right and toward the target. The swing faults associated with alignment too far left are weak grip positions, open clubface positions, overly inside out swing paths, and clearing with the body early or coming out of the shot. All of these motions are out of athletic balance and will cause weak fades, slices or push shots not to mention poor contact and distance will be reduced, as it is a weaker hit. The student will be quite possibly one of the shorter hitters in the group. Likewise, if the student is aimed right, they will have just the opposite problems with their swing. The swing faults associated with alignment too far right are closed clubface positions, strong grip positions, outside to in swing paths, and staying on their back foot letting their arms pass their body faster than what is recommended. The product of these out of balance swing faults will be pulled shots, hooked shots, topping the ball or hitting the ground first before the ball, and yes, the dreaded shank . This person is likely to be a long hitter with short to mid irons, but can struggle with long irons, some fairway clubs and Driver.
  5. Can a shank be caused by wrong alignment too? For instance when your body is aiming too far to the right and is not parallel to the target line. A Pro told me one of the reasons the people make good shots from mats is because they are aligned properly.
  6. With "flat" I mean a too shallow backswing that comes too shallow from the inside in the follow through. I'm trying to achieve a steeper backswing and downswing. Since I hit decent shots with my 3 iron yesterday It must have been right what I practiced :p. I'm just curious why my feeling totally got lost after hitting long irons today.
  7. I'm practicing every day a few hours. Do you think a long iron supports a flat swing, esspecially when you are trying to get a steeper swing path?
  8. How many Pro lessons do you / would you take if you try to improve your game? How much time do you spend for training until your next lesson?
  9. Maybe I started too soon hitting my long irons already, I just felt to confident after the good shots yesterday. it's the only explanation I have. Since the lowest point of the arc is far more on the right side when you come from the inside too much it explains those bladed/air shots.
  10. I worked with my Pro on my swing the past few weeks because I came way too far from the inside. I improved a lot last week, and yesterday I hit some decent shots, even with my 3 and 4 iron. Then this morning the shock on the range: I started with my 4 iron (I read yesterday that Tom Watson alwas starts with his 3 iron so I thought I'll give it a try too), hit 2 good shots, pushed the 3rd one, and then: shanks!!! Then I pulled my 9 iron: I shanked and bladed my balls and almost made airshots!!! My swing totally fell apart!!! Then I stopped and went chipping and pitched a few shots, no problem there. Back to the long game the same problem! Then I tried the move in the downswing my pro gave me to avoid coming from the inside too much, and I started to hit better balls again! So my mistake was that I came too far from the inside again - but it didn't feel like that!!! Was the mistake maybe because I started hitting shots with my 4 iron instead of a PW or 9i as usually? Or is it normal that you fall back into your old swing over night? Did you ever make similar experiences? Tomorrow morning I have my next Pro lesson.
  11. And how much does the grip contribute?
  12. Regarding the feel of irons: What do you think has more affect - the shaft or the clubhead?
  13. And in which shafts do you really feel the impact?
  14. Of course. Regarding myself I hope you're right.
  15. So you think people that learn slow can be better players than people that learn fast?
  16. Of course you never know when a player reaches his limits. But I still think a player that needs 1 year from HCP 20 to 0 has better chances than a player that needs 5 years to achieve the same under similar conditions.
  17. What I meant is if he can make it in 1 year to scratch he must have so much talent to even make more progress to be able to play on the tour. Scratch certainly isn't enough.
  18. Hi, thx for your reply. What did you hate about them? Did they feel dead at impact or how would you describe it?
  19. I know that it's a subjective question, but I just want to know what kind of opinion/experience the players have.
  20. Hi, which manufacturer of iron shafts do you think give the best feel?
  21. I absolutely agree to what iacas is saying. In my opinion there's nothing bad about moving the head early in the follow-through towards the target.
  22. I enjoy the silence on a golf course.
  23. Difficult question. if you have a good swing the fairway lie should be better.
