I bought a 909D3 a couple of weeks ago. I hit it just as far and much much straighter. I love it.

When my roommate hit a terrible shot and made a face: "Want to hit another one?" "Why the **** would I want to do that again?"

If you think it's absurd because it sounded like i think 100 is a good score, you misunderstood/I wasn't clear. I guess I should have said I want a low score someday because i'm that good...

I didn't mean to imply that I think the game improvement clubs alter your game all that much. I think they can alter the feel a great deal though, and I get my irons into the air just fine. Part of it is that I can't even swing a lot of the cavity backs. I come from playing tennis for many years and for whatever reason that seems to help my swing. But swinging a lot of cavity backs - especially the larger ones - is impossible to me. They feel clunky and I never seem to get as clean a hit with a big cavity back as I do with my irons.

I'm a beginner (started about 8 months ago but i usually shoot around 100) and I play with the titleist zb forged blended set (3-5 full cavity, 6 & 7 half cavity, 8-P full blade) and I love them. When I screw up I know it. For now I'd rather have a club that tells me when I do something wrong than one that hides my faults and helps me get a lower score. I want a low score because I'm that good, not because my clubs do a lot of the work for me. And most of my trouble comes from getting it in the cup from inside 100 yards, so it isn't my irons that are causing me problems. To each his own. If you want to play with blades, do so. If you don't, don't.

If it was more accurate than the ones at golfsmith and golf galaxy, I would definitely go. But the ones I've seen in the stores aren't all that accurate, so I hesitate to do it...

I've gotta say, a lot of you folks seem to be easily annoyed. I thought I was but apparently it's not just me. Actually I think I'm pretty laid back. I hate it when guys take literally 5 minutes to line up a putt, then miss, and then do it again, and miss, and then do it again to finally make it from 6 inches away. I'm a fairly quick player - I don't usually take any practice swings unless I'm pitching onto the green from pretty close - but I do take a few moments to line up my putts. But I know my skill level and I usually know when I walk up to the ball if I have a shot at making it into the cup. I almost feel like people should be allowed a specific time limit on the green. If you spend five minutes lining up your first putt, you'd better make it. Maybe it's just me though. Oh, and as far as people practicing or playing two balls when the course is backed up - what do you care? You're going to have to sit and wait either way. My dad does it and he's just as pissy as anyone when it comes to slowing every one down - it's a coping mechanism. Maybe you should try it...

Honestly, I was shocked to see Tiger's name come up in this thread. He played in Houston at Champions Golf Club once - I think it was an important tournament, but being 8 or 9 or something like that I didn't really know at the time and consequently can't remember now - and in between holes I was standing next to the rope and I said "Good luck Tiger, you can do it" and he looked at me and smiled and gave a little wave of his hand. If anyone's a class act, it's Tiger. Also, I've read somewhere that while Vijay Singh isn't a fan favorite, he's actually very well-liked by most guys on tour. And vice versa with Phil Mickelson...

I've seen my dad hit one, and my mom has two - although she's just about the luckiest person I've ever met in my life... She can beat you at anything completely by accident...

Currently 2 (not counting PW) - 54* and 60* but as soon as I can afford too I think I'm going to get 52* and 56* to replace the 54*

I'm really curious about this too. I can't seem to hit the driver nearly as straight as my irons and hybrid. Even when I hit it well it takes off at a slight angle to the right. It doesn't hook because it travels in a straight line, it just takes off right and I can't figure out why. Anyway, I'm really curious about trying a steel shaft in a driver and seeing how that would go...

A lot of courses have a "Pace of Play" sign or something along those lines. I think as long as you're under 4 hours 15 minutes at most places I think you're alright. But you should do your best to move the game along. Don't rush, but don't waste time either. And if someone else is playing faster than you are, let them play through. If you have to let more than one or two groups play through, the problem is with you, not them.

I used to carry a 2 iron but that was when I had my dad's clubs. Now I've just got a 21* hybrid. Works a lot better for me.

Wow, that's pretty shady. I used to have a pretty serious temper on the course (and on the tennis court) and I didn't act that foolish. And I was a teenager, not a grown man.

Oh what's the big deal? It's just a word. I don't think anyone outside the US thinks it's a big deal.
