  1. Cleveland 588 RTG. Perhaps the best wedge ever made. You can buy these things brand new for $70.00. Or if you dont like the look of the "rusty" wedge you can buy the original 588 chrome wedge for $80.00.
  2. You can definitely bend the wedges but remember if you bend a wedge stronger or weaker you effect the bounce angle as well. ie, you bend a 60* wedge with 4* of bounce to 58* you decrease the bounce angle by 2 degrees. So you'd be looking at a 58*/2* wedge.
  3. Either get a shorter shaft or get a 4 wood. An average golfer can hit a 4 wood better and farther than a 15* 3 wood. It's a great club that I believe will make a huge comeback over the next couple of years. With the "vanishing loft disease" getting worse and worse and having to incorporate a gap wedge as part of your standard set it's only fitting that the 4 wood will become a staple in many player's golf bags.
  4. You have the same problem I have had in the past and still fight from time to time. You're sliding on your downswing which gets the club a little stuck and you compensate by flipping at the ball which results in hooks and weak pushes. also, try maintaining your spine angle throughout your swing and your grip maybe looks a little strong , although I cant really see for sure.
  5. TOOL. I' ve been a huge fan since high school and their music just keeps getting better and better.
  6. Oil Can wedges ARE SUPPOSED TO RUST !!!!!!!! That's the point.
  7. I play my 58* SM Vokey almost exclusively for all green side shots and pretty much from 85 and in. I also like my Vokey GW for longer approach shots and for knock downs. I personally believe a 58* wedge is the most versatile wedge there is.
  8. Oil can. No question about it. I used to play chrome wedges but after playing raw wedges it's easy to understand the benefits from it over chrome. The sun is blinding without a raw finish and for someone like me that plays with an open face a lot having a raw finish is the only way to go. Besides, I dont like "pretty" clubs. LOL.
  9. try a 4 wood. A forgotten club but highly effective.
  10. Are people really that concerned with what belt they wear to play golf? That's absolutely amazing to me. To each their own I guess, but come on people. Let me guess, you all have popped collars too.
  11. Technical writer. I write analysis reports for different safety, engineering, and system integration panels for the Shuttle Program and ISS. However Constellation is picking up and getting really interesting.
  12. Celtics will repeat in the east without any problems. There really isnt any threat posed to them as long as they can stay healthy. Their offense is top notch and their defense is as good as you will see. Out west, now that's another story. The Hornets are solid but still lack the necessary experience to get them over the top. The Blazers will be good but not anytime soon. Way too young and inexperienced. Dallas is a has been and so are the Suns. Shaq is 80 and will be lucky to get 25 minutes a game. San Antonio will always be around come April as long as they can stay healthy. Which now leads us to the top three legitimate contenders to play the Celtics in the Finals: Lakers Jazz Rockets Anyone of the three can win the west.
  13. According to a representative of Titleist, new Vokey wedges will be released in the upcoming months. According to him, he was unsure if the new wedges would come with stock "M" grinds or other specific grinds; however, he hinted that the Vokey Shop would eventually be running at 100%--whatever that means. In addition, I think the prices of the new wedges will be in the same range as the 200 and SM series. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. One more thing...I could be completely wrong!
  14. My 58*/12* SW/LW gets the most action. I think the 58* wedge is the most versatile wedge you can have. If you can learn how to use it properly it can easily take the place of both the 56* and 60*. Not to mention it takes away all the guess-work you can have with the 56 and 60. Less thinking=better golf.
  15. Instead of thinking you need a 3 wood try a 4 wood instead. The 4 wood is a lot easier to hit since the shaft is shorter and easier to elevate because of the 2 extra degrees. Also, go pick up a copy of Tom Wishon's book, "The Search for the Perfect Club". He breaks it all down. BTW, I'm not sure what your swing speed is but most people dont have enough speed to hit a 15* 3 wood consistently from the deck. Like everything else in this world, it's all about the math my friend. Good luck and have fun.
  16. the 52-58 wedge set up is great and extremely versatile if used the correct way. Since the 58* will be used as a sand and a lobber I would suggest getting at least 10* of bounce. I played the 58* Cleveland DSG for a while and it was flat-out money. You could do anything with that wedge. As for the 52* wedge, I would get one with at least 8* of bounce. If you're still scared about having too much bounce on your wedges then pick up a copy of Stan Utley's "The Art of the Short Game". It's a great book that will instill confidence in your game. Good luck and have fun!!!!
  17. Wow, I guess you have it all figured out. I'll be sure to tell that to the people at the Performance Golf Academy.
  18. Take a shaft that has been pured and then take the OEM shaft that's in the club and compare the two. If you could see the difference you might change your opinion.
  19. The shaft makes all the difference in the world. It's the engine of the club. I guess my take on golf equipment is that if someone is willing to buy expensive clubs, they might as well pay the little extra for a decent club fitting and/or shaft. One more thing. Don't buy into all the hype over a specific shaft. I know many people will buy a shaft based entirely off reviews; however, just because a specific shaft might work for some people doesnt mean that it will work for you as well. Good luck and have fun!
