I've played rounds with a cart that had a timer that displayed if you were on pace on not and I found it effective as well. I honestly have no idea if courses that have these have pace of play issues or not. It would be interesting to find out but my inclination is that there are always going to be those people who think the rules/guidelines don't apply to them. I agree shutting carts down would be extreme and create a lot of hassle but there could be some middle ground.

Hmmm.. Using GPS technology to enforce pace of play sounds interesting. Then the onus wouldn't been on a Marshall or ranger to make the tough decision. Once you drive off from the 1st tee box the GPS will know and start the clock. If you don't show up at a tee within a specified time it let's you know with maybe a yellow warning or something. Fall behind too far and maybe you go into the red and the cart shuts down not letting you move anymore effectively forcing/shaming you into letting groups behind play through. This would be similar to being put on the clock on the PGA Tour. Obviously, there would be arguments that it doesn't allow for exceptions but if a course is booked solid there isn't really room for exceptions... the train has to keep moving.

101. Solid off tee with only lost ball coming off a hybrid tee shot. Driver shot is a a fade that I can count on... problem is if the hole is a dog left I still fade. Really need to up my approach and chips to get in 90s reliably.

Looks like US will win the front 9 but lose the back 9. Kinda of like the previous morning vs afternoon sessions.

Didn't bubba / kutcher play 7 or 8 under? They just ran into an absolute buzz saw in rose/stenson. That match was really really good.

Poulter was doing the dagger to the heart after chipping in yesterday. It's fine.

Looking like it might be locked up rather early.... wonder if the us can manage to split singles 6 - 6 to only lose by 4.

Golf Channel Unveiling "Relaxed" Rules Of Golf
fozgolf replied to boogielicious's topic in Rules of Golf
While there is nothing stopping anyone from not playing by the rules of golf I like the idea of "relaxed" rules. I really like the OB/Lost balls just dropping at area nearest point last crossed. I think it's plenty penal enough to take a drop and a shot let alone having to go back to last position to replay shot. I liked on the round table one of the guys was saying the day he goes back to replay a shot from the tee will be the first days he's gone back to the tee. -
This sums it up for me at this point.

102 legit. 4 pars 2 triples and 1 quad. The rest were bogie or doubles. It was the first time playing this course so I feel good about that score. I need to work on my full swing to calm the slice and chipping needs serious work.

I was browsing TST on my phone with Golf Central on in the background when I heard it and my ears perked up. Legit.

Thanks... I am going to try to focus on that because I have read the thread about sliding the hips and have tried it before and really feel that it helps drop my right shoulder down to help get me on plane. Also when I was swinging a driver in a simulator at Edwin Watts that sales guy mentioned I had an armsy swing and needed to get my lower body more involved which makes sense.

Thanks for feedback... lessons are going to happen sooner than later. The thing that has been hard for me is evaluating what's wrong and how to fix it. And when I do read or watch a drill that I think might help its hard to trust sticking with it.

I've been Playing Golf for: Learned and played a little as a teen. Played once or twice a year for a couple years in my 20s. Recently been playing and going to the range once a week for past 4 months. My current handicap index or average score is: Around 95-110 (depending on how many "don't count that's" I take; best legit count every stroke has been 103 so far) My typical ball flight is: Fade at best to slice off the planet. The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Slice off the planet. I want to be able to play from the general confines of the hole I'm currently on. I've tried to self-diagnose and I think I'm turning my shoulders at the top of the backswing which immediately is bringing me back down to the ball outside the line. I don't think I'm throwing or casting the club "over the top" but I am over the top or outside in. Most of my shots are fade/slices down to the 7 iron. 8, 9, wedges generally are straight or straight pulls (again confirming outside in?) Most of my shots start straight and then spin off to the right. Videos:

96. Driving is getting better and only had a few penalties overall. Didn't chunk any irons and only hit a few fat shots that came up short. Chipping was a let down. Putting was decent because I have a good feel for the slow greens; namely hit it straight and hard as its not likely to run out much if I am offline.

Any tips on how to make bogeys feel good for those of us shooting over 100? Even knowing if I bogeyed all holes I'd shoot my lowest round ever I still feel let down not making par. Which makes no sense because I am lucky to make 2 or 3 pars a round currently. Last time I played I tried thinking that par on every hole was +1 (so pars 4, 5, 6) but gave up after a few holes. I might try taking a sharpie to black out the par line on the score card and writing in the new par on a blank line and see if that helps.

I've just started playing regularly this summer and have 2 birdies in over a dozen rounds and the first one was the first time I went out on the last hole I played in the rain before lightning scared me off course. The key for high handicappers? Luck. I'dbe happy with more than a couple pars per round at this point.

108. I've been playing cheap beat up courses but decided to play a 18 round twilight priced nice course. It didn't help my score but it was really nice to play on a good course although the greens took some getting used to. I am already looking to get back out there I felt my tee shots were pretty good today.

There's a reason many companies chose not to go down the discount route. Plus I wouldn't hold it against Ping or other OEM for not participating in a retailers sales offers. I never understood the X amount off Ads with exclusions apply that exclude 80% of the stores products. It's fairly shady advertising.

An asterisk 91*. As normal couldn't keep it in fairway off tee (slice.) I was behind a 5-some who at one point blasted a snake with a .45 call hand gun. At that point I decided since no pressure was behind me I dropped multiple balls and practiced a lot of chipping and putting while letting them play ahead to next green. On some tees I'd hit 3 or 4 shots (leading to more lost balls than necessary.) I might try leaving driver in bag but my swing slices everything... its just the worst with driver.

Nice to win club championship in process. Congrats.

I wonder what distance from a 15" hole is a near gimme? I'm thinking that it would be near impossible to 3 putt (unless the putting surface was mammoth) to a 15" hole or is that mistaken?

Given the options of cool or not cool I would choose cool. I don't think golf is something you would be embarrassed to admit you play. However being a golf fan and watching it on TV is not cool.

I've been lurking around awhile and reading threads. I recently recorded my swing and was surprised how much what I thought I was doing wasn't what I was doing. So I figured I might as well get involved here and participate it some threads and see if I can get a little help along the way. I had some lessons 25 years ago when I was 12 but only played for a few weeks. Then I played maybe a dozen rounds over a year in my earlier 20s. Now in my late 30s I've gotten interested in playing consistently and getting better. So of course with the Internet now I read tips or watch youtube videos and practice a few air swings in the house and think I've got a swing grooved. Then I hit the course or range and realize I've got nothing. Then back to reading/watching more "tips" and next thing I know I've got dozens of swing thoughts in my head and hitting worse than when I just went out and gripped it and ripped it! Chris
