Well I don't think any "wallstreet for dummies" will do any help. You can start reading Microeconomics and Macroeconomics university books. Those can offer you a proper basic understanding of markets. Just look at any university curriculum for economics major, and see what books they use for those 2 courses.

All I am seeing so far is that the republican ticket isn't that different than Bush-Cheney. I was completely shocked that someone running to the second office, and could be in the first, to mention torture so jokingly ("terrorists want to attack us catastrophically and they [democrats] are worried about reading their rights") along with the clapping of thousands of gun addicts and religious fundamentalists. I agree with you 100% on the first part, however on the second part, in what concerns foreign policy. Frankly both parties have the same direction, except that McCain and the party he represents are much more rogue, and the Democrats are more of give and takers.
