+1, good luck! -
This. When I was playing to the + side of things I was making a lot of birdies/eagles. For me though, it had more to do with my chipping than anything else. Getting up and down was almost automatic, to the point that there wasn't a pin that I wouldn't shoot at. When you're playing to stick every pin because you know that you'll make par even if you miss the green, you leave yourself with a lot of good birdie opportunities.

In a way, with today's loft jacking, I carry 5 wedges (my 9-iron has 44' of loft, the same as a great deal of today's PW's). :-D On most days, my bag looks like this; - Driver - 13' 3-wood - 2, 4-9 irons - 48' PW - 52' - 57' - 62' - Putter (just to round out my 14) The "bottom" of my bag always remains the same. I will play with the "top" of my bag though and have a 15' 3-wood, 17' 5-wood and 3-iron that I throw into the mix from time to time depending on course/conditions. I've even been known to drop my driver and carry my 13' 3-wood and 17' 5-wood from time to time. My wedges however, always remain the same.

Time for new wedges...recommendations?
rebby replied to RichWW2's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
+1, I love mine. If you're looking in that class of wedge though, the Miura wedges deserve a look as well. For OTR wedges though, you can't go wrong with either Titleist or Cleveland. -
Scotty Cameron Putter Info

I found it in the archives under 1998. Chances are that it was produced over a longer period than just that though. I'm a little out of my element w/the Coronado, I'm more of a Newport guy. Enjoy the putter and as BDM said, be sure to take care of it... -

Which blades to get? Titleist or Mizuno?

The WHAT welded on??? -
Why are you thinking of swapping out your 2 iron for a hybrid? What are you trying to accomplish?
-
As long as you get things really clean before painting and use a quality paint, you should be just fine. Mine have all held up very well.
-
I use a gel based paint stripper to clean out the old paint fill. Then rinse and clean off with a little rubbing alcohol. For the new paint fill, I use a needle applicator. The paint that I use is Tamiya, you can get it at most hobby shops. Let me know if you have any specific questions and I can get quite a bit more verbose. It's actually a pretty simple process.

It doesn't meet the rules. It states that on their website, although not perfectly clearly, it's still there.

Congrats! I agree w/giving strokes, especially in match play. I had a bit of a rant about that very subject a while back.

Should I match my 3 wood to my driver?
rebby replied to alomar123's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've had both F2/F3 but I am more of an iron man ..... The deeper face and smaller head of the F3 makes it easier or better from the tee, more difficult trough the fairway, while the F2 is better through the faiway, but harder to hit from the tee..... it is just a matter of the purpose you have for the 3W. The F2 longer face gives some extra confidence to most users.
I'm a HUGE fan of the 909 series, especially the F3. I like the 909's enough that I don't even have any plans to try out the 910's. I really like the lower trajectory that the F3 delivers (vs the F2). If you're a high ball hitter, an F3 w/a low launching shaft is an ideal fairway wood. Going with a 3 wood from the same series as your driver is a decent starting point, if it delivers what you're looking for in a fairway wood that is. The R9 fairway wood has a pretty shallow/long face and that doesn't work for me so, even if I gamed an R9 driver, I doubt that I'd give much serious consideration to a fairway wood from the same line. Worry more about what a given club delivers based on your needs and stick with that. In the end, it doesn't really matter what's stamped on the sole-plate if the stick works for you. -
May 2011 Golf Digest Ball Review
rebby replied to erock9174's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Current ball: Penta TP, Bridgestone B330-S Ball most likely to try: 2011 Titleist ProV1/V1x Thoughts: Most years I do a very extensive "ball test" (so to speak, do a search and you'll see what I mean). This year, due to some extenuating circumstances (1 year-old had open heart surgery, it's been very cold and I've been rebuilding a v10 in my driveway), I won't be doing my typical ball test. I am intrigued by the 2011 ProV1/V1x though so I will give it a fair shake sometime over the next month or so. I can't see myself doing a full out "ball test" this year though. -

Miura -
Small notebook. I use it to take notes about my practice/play, things that went well, things that didn't go so well, stuff to work on, etc. I also take notes about the course; dimensions of the green, details of green break/slope, distances to bunkers, good layup locations, etc.
-
I like a soft feeling blade and the Miura's defiantly deliver on that aspect. They are very smooth, almost no "click" whatsoever. I haven't hit the old Hogans in quite a number of years so I can't really comment on that front but I would say that Miura is somewhat of a "religious" experience. They have a very smooth feel unlike any other club I've hit in the past. The feel of a Miura is a very hard thing to describe, if you haven't tried them you really owe it to yourself to find one that you take a few swings with.
-
You might be surprised. The baby blades are not near as difficult to game as they look.
-
Miura baby blades. Tried a ton of clubs, Scratch included, and these are easily the best of the bunch.

Titleist 14-Way/Sun Mountain Four 5
rebby replied to Wet Doggg's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I'd love to find one of these for $140... Guess I'll just have to keep my eyes open. Chances are, I'll be dropping the full $200 though. -
I'm boring. I'll stick with black. I've been trying the NDMC on a few clubs and wish that I could get those in black/black as well. Sigh.... As a previous poster noted though, if the white grips give you a better mental feel, they sound like a good fit to me. Perhaps that's why I stick with, and prefer, black?

Titleist 14-Way/Sun Mountain Four 5
rebby replied to Wet Doggg's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Say what?!?!!?!? $139??? Is this the current or the previous version? If you're not aware of the difference, the current version of these bags has a recessed stand leg so that it will fit in golf carts. The previous version had a leg that would get in the way on some golf carts. Back to your question though. I've been wanting one of these since my PING bag suffered a broken leg last summer. PING made it right though and got me a new leg so now I have no reason to get another one (other than the fact that I still want one). I've looked this bag over time and time again and I can't see any reason not to get one. I'm looking forward to more replies to this thread as well. Seriously though, $139? You can't go wrong...
