  1. Yes that's not a bad way to go, but I would rather be shot by the husband of my 22 year old lover after he caught her and I in bed when I was 95 :) Or get stuck in a rotating door with the girls from "the girls next door" and be smothered by their...well you know
  2. Dude...why not just eyeball it? I mean that's how the old school greats did it right? I really mean no offense, but if it was good enough for Jack... I guess I am just a purest, but you don't get my kind of handicap using some fancy technology...you have to EARN it!!! PS, I really am not a 36 handicap I just put that there for the fun of it. I really never calculated my handicap cause I really never cared. I just like to play.
  3. Definitely not my type in the romantic department, but then no woman is as beautiful as my wife. That being said, you do have to admit she is one hell of an athlete.
  4. Totally awesome. I still remember my first like it was yesterday. It was a 297 yard par 4 and it was all because of my drive. The drive put me about 20 yards from the edge of the green, chipped it to about 6 feet and then made the put. I know exactly how you feel, enjoy it and know there will be many more
  5. 12-15 "good" balls, 10-20 random found or not so good balls and one yellow smiley faced novelty ball for my 3 year old son for when he comes out with me this might have made a good poll question?
  6. 12-15 - this might have made a good poll question
  7. +1 on that :) Also, I notice that when I get nervous, that is when I change something that I don't need to change. Focusing too hard on my grip, stance, over-thinking it etc. Being conscious of your nerves is good though, take your time and step off the tee if you need to, take a couple extra practice swings, ask to hit last, do whatever to just relax. If all else fails and you really do trash the shot, just walk away limping and holding your knee. If you really sell it the cart girl might come help you with some ice
  8. I have to admit I did "deflect" a ball once a couple weeks ago. I was playing with my father in law who was having a bad day all around. I was on the green and he was down below the green chipping up from about 35-40 feet. He could only see the top of the flag from where he was. He hit the ball way too hard and it was rolling fast across the green, though the line was very close to the hole he certainly would have rolled off and gone down the other side. I stuck my putter out and stopped the ball about 8 feet past the hole, he didn't see me do it. He came up the hill and was surprised at the ball's location. "This is the slowest green I have ever seen" I said. He made the 8 ft put, making par and was happy. Before you throw the rule book at me, we were NOT in a tournament and just playing for the fun of it. I just wanted to give him a break. Sometimes if my friends and I are playing a round and there is no-one behind us, we will re-put from the same location but take the original score for the hole, just go get a little more practice on that hole or while we are waiting for the group in front of us. I would never even think about doing what this guy did though, especially with someone I didn't even know.
  9. I agree, if this were a tournament he would have been removed immediately. Since it was not, I would not worry about the exact rules regarding this jerk's actions. I would just call it par and sleep well tonight. You did nothing wrong, therefore I do not see why you should be penalized.
  10. Um, I am really not trying to be a d*ck here, but minus the house and cars? I mean debt is debt isn't it? Other than the mortgages on the properties we own, the cars, the line of credit, the credit cards, the time share, my wife's monthly tanning bill and the gym membership, I have absolutely no debt at all I am just giving you a hard time really
  11. Wow you are absolutely right, that does not make sense. I cut and pasted the yardage, rating and slope directly from the course's website, but those numbers do not add up. I went out to my truck and got today's scorecard and the correct numbers are: holes 1-9: 124, 147, 268, 146, 97, 373, 299, 78, 327. The correct total for 9 holes is 1859. I guess they were talking about 2 rounds, although that is not exactly correct either. Oh well. Sorry about that, I guess just didn't notice the numbers made no sense when I quickly cut and paste. I was just estimating on the holes before. My mistake.
  12. Dude, check my screen name There is a great 9 hole right behind my office that was just built in 2000. 5 of the holes are par 3 ranging from about 100-175 yards with the other 4 being par 4's roughly 300 to 350 yards. Total is 3,535 yards from the longest tees for a par of 31. The course rating is 29.4 and it has a slope rating of 86.5. It sounds quite a bit bigger than some of the par-3 courses some of you have described. Its just enough to practice with every club, plus its only $9 a round. I play it at least once a week. I finally met my goal of breaking 40 with a 39 about a couple months ago, and since I broke that barrier I have hit several more rounds under 40. It's amazing how meeting a goal like that can change your game mentally. Today I got my first 2 birdie round thanks a great deal to my new square head driver. The best part of today though, even better than my score, was that my 3 year old son walked the course with me and had a blast. I even got him a novelty smiley face golf ball at the clubhouse for behaving excellently...and it is sitting on his nightstand right now while he is sleeping.
  13. 4 thoughts here... 1. Shank the hell out of a drive and then turn to him and say "thanks for the advice...I did exactly what you said to do" 2. Start bugging him on his shots, but make up outrageous tips to make it fun for you. Tell him to try getting a running start on his drives etc. 3. It would be a pity if while driving your club "slipped" out of your hand on follow through? If you know what I mean. 4. Find one of those "silence" signs they use at professional tournaments and hold it up whenever he talks. If he doesn't get that hint he is brain dead. Which he might be anyway after tip #3.
  14. Excellent, someone who gets it
  15. +1 on that its a GAME, and a silly one at that so if we can't hit a 72 every round we should be barred from play? I always heard gold was a snobs game, I am finding out that is true the more I read this forum...
  16. OK fair enough, but now can we hear from a heterosexual male?
  17. Well anyway, I think she is a great choice...plus she if frikin hot. Does anyone else want to see her in a low cut top taking those glasses off and letting her hair down with a fan blowing behind her while "hot for teacher" is playing in the background? Or is it just me
  18. Wow sarcasm is really wasted on this board lol
  19. Wow so now BOTH parties have an old white male and a young woman on the ticket...this is going to be a tough decision....
  20. It's the same marketing concept as having slightly concave mirrors in department store dressing rooms that make you look thinner when trying on clothes.
  21. That's just it, it was never a rant. I was simply poking fun and something I have seen others do, and yes have and CAN do myself but I think some people take it a little too far and look really lame in doing so. Then there were a couple of people from Canada that are so insecure that they had to attack and assume I was "jealous" of them. Some people need a serious kick in the funny bone and a valium chaser. Seriously. But thank you also for an intelligent reply. I don't think you got my original sarcasm, but at least you posted with class.
  22. Now that is a post I can respect. You addressed the issue without trying to make yourself look like some super golf stud and put others down because you assume others don't have this magical gift of bouncing. Thank you for showing me that not everyone here has his head up his a$$.
  23. Somebody better tell that kid to keep his frikin head down!!!! JK, awesome pic
