  1. Anyone else notice the R9 under Paddy's headcover?
  2. It's not the club!
  3. Stupid game. I've managed to get my Index down to 10.7. First 3 rounds of July: 79, 81, 79. Last 4 rounds: 98, 97, 94, 97. Guess which 3 count.
  4. Condoms...You never know.

    The comeback..

Years ago, while playing to a 12, I shot an ugly 46 on the front nine. I told my partners I was skipping the back and going home to nap. They convinced me to stay. I shot 33 on the back.
  6. Sounds like that if everyone is not keeping track then it would easy to get "pencil whipped".
  7. My answer is "Yes & No" No, if by "belonging" to a course means you get special privaleges at a semi-private. My experience is that you are still faced with difficulty getting tee times, (especially on weekends) closely spaced tee times (creating traffic jams), and the dreaded "Outing". Most semi-private courses agressively market themselves to corporate and charity groups. Our local semi-private is closed to the public (including members) two or three days a week during the season. So a resounding NO to semi-privates. Yes, if you can see yourself clear to join a private country club. Here you will find ready access to a much better conditioned course, meet lifelong friends with similar likes and wants, many fun & competitive tournaments, and great social activities. It's great to show up, be addressed by name, and have your clubs cleaned and ready. You must, however, get past the cost. First there's the initiation cost. Often all or part of the initiation cost is equity, meaning you get it back (sometimes more) upon resignation. The current economy works for you here. Many/most clubs are discounting upfront fees to attract new members. I don't know how old you are but, most clubs offer very attractive "Junior" rates. Then there are monthly dues. If you play a lot of golf they are about the same as green fees for 2 rounds a week. I've played for quite a while but would give it up without my club.

    Ace

Three others in my foursome plus the foursome on the next tee which overlooks the Par 3 green.

Got my first hole-in-one today. 120 yards to the pin, hit a gap wedge. Shot 79 with 3 doubles and two 3 putt bogies. Not bad for a 11.5 index. Had to tell someone.
  10. Only a two possibilities (assuming it stayed in the water): 1) He hits it out of the water. 2) He keeps score like my neighbor.
  11. So Stupid...(continued) - 3 or 4 Driver - Always finish with a few sand or lob wedges half or 3/4 swing to slow things down !!! Don't forget to putt!!!
  12. Sorry... - Stretch - 6 PW's - 6 7's - 6 4's - 2 or 3 hybreds - 2 or 3 fairway woods -
  13. Only to warm up, not to work on stuff. Here's my program: - Stretch - 6 (or so) PW's - 6 7 irons -

Perhaps the Williamsburg guys were in a bad mood because their club was recently sold and will be closed. It will reopen as a semi-private...maybe you can go play there and be rude for revenge. I'd like to go on record and state that you will find no snobs at Cedar Point in Suffolk which is currently holding a very attractive membership drive. I assure you that you will face none of the issues you complain about.
  16. I'll bet you a dollar to a donut that Tiger wouldn't use one without the endorsement deal.
  17. Great idea. Also check with your course(s) if they have regulary scheduled blitz. Typically, different skill levels show up, accomodations are made for skill level, stakes are low, and you meet a bunch of people. Some will become good golf buddies. At my club we have a blitz every day except Wednesday...when we have two.
  18. At one time we did. It seems to be disappearing as we move along. Currently, our new Miss California is close to losing her crown for voicing her opinion on gay marriage. It matters not that it is the same opinion as stated by then candidate Obama. I, for one, am pullling for Feherty.
  19. My wife and I both have concealed carry permits. We carry: H&K; USP Compact 9mm Glock 19 9mm Ruger LCP 380 S&W; Hammerless 38
  20. Wholesale clubs like BJ's, Sam's Club, & Costco. Name brand stuff at about half price...everyday. Ask yourself this: "Do you really care if you have to try on shorts in public?" Hint: wear underwear.
  21. 1996 in a club tournament at Spanish Trail (Las Vegas). The second hole is a dogleg right par 5. Water all down the right side and front of green. I hit Driver, 5 Wood to within 12 feet. Putting for eagle. Instead, adrenalin took over and I 6 putt for an 8.
  22. Regarding Nike contracts; has anyone noticed that Tigers wears a sized to fit cap while the other Nike players wear the adjustable kind like us mere mortals?

    Hangover

With alcohol comes responsibility. It's something that can get away from you (particularly you younger guys) in a hurry. That said, I'm a pragmatist and know sometimes we have a little too much and end up hungover. Try this cure; 2 Tylenol & a "Pink Cloud" For you youngsters out the a Pink Cloud is equal parts Pepto Bismol and gin.
  24. A pencil.
