  1. Wow, this made so much sense to me. I put it into play just this morning before my round and the ball striking I had with my irons was night and day better than the range session when I took this video (My woods still need some work with this move, but I'm sure that'll come with some more practice sessions). My divots were back (which disappear when I'm not hitting it well) and I got some distance back that seemed to have left me for a bit. The images are amazing as well, thank you so much. Yes, I'm working on not dipping so much in the back swing, when I really focus on it my ball striking is really more consistent. But thank you for the complement hahaha. People guess that my handicap is actually a lot lower than it is sometimes, but my scores are quickly improving this season so far. Soon I hope my swing to be a crappy 2 handicapper swing ;)
  2. I've been Playing Golf for: Roughly 3 Years My current handicap index or average score is: Around a -16.5 but my average scores have been lower than that lately My typical ball flight is: High with irons (possibly due to somewhat game improvement irons) and mid-level (ideal) with woods. The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: There are still remnants of my over the top move that used to be extremely prevalent in my swing, but I've really worked hard to get rid of that. When I get off plane now, it's usually just a bit above plane and usually leads to a slice (although not the banana slice that it used to be) or a pull. I'm always conscious of my swing plane now, and really try to take the club back on plane. -This is my first video I've ever submitted on this site, as I've been trying to become more of a regular member and have a semi-decent swing before posting. Just some things that I've noticed, my right arm throughout the swing could really use some work and my footwork definitely needs improvement. Also, I'm not sure if I'm taking the club away too much under plane and then casting over the top. It would appear here though that I am on plane on the way down. Thanks so much for any help, and feel free to be as brutally honest as necessary, I can take it. Videos: I'll upload more as the season goes on, but I figure I'd start with this one to begin with. Let me know if more is needed, and thanks again!
  3. (6/18/12) I really need to start thinking of a way to make this post shorter, but for now, another best! Shot an 80 today at Bethpage Blue, so close to the 70's!! But still I played great today and was able to beat out my last best by a whole 6 strokes. An even breakdown of 40 on both nines, consistency was the name of the game today. I drove the ball somewhat average, but I kept it in play (most of the time, more on that later) and my irons were really great today. I hit a lot of shots that were 3/4 shots that I was able to flight really close to the hole. My short game was also on fire today. I almost chipped in for birdie from the rough on 1 (settled for par), and then did in fact chip in for birdie on the 4th (after thinking i screwed up the hole after not reaching the green in two (or three) after a terrific drive. My long irons and hybrids today were also great and I really only had one bad hole, a double bogey on 9 (my only hole worse than bogey). In terms of putting, I didn't really make any long ones, but I only had 32 putts on the day (which is low for me) and I was able to leave myself with many 2-3 foot par putts (drained all of these) and only had one 3-putt which included a putt from the rough. One game changing stretch today was after losing a ball on the par five 12th, I was able to put my provisional onto the green in two within 15 feet, and even after missing the par (eagle*) putt, I was able to salvage bogey (birdie*). Then after that, I was able to get up and down from a green-side bunker about 40 yards from the hole. Opened up a pitching wedge and put it to about four feet. So after 15 holes, sitting at 8 over for the day, I was determined to make this a great score and was able to finish birdie-bogey-par for a tidy 80. Felt great to play so well today, but I know that I still left shots out there and want to break into the 70's so bad! Still a lot of summer left though, and can't wait to get back out there.
  4. I was really surprised with some of the shots that Furyk hit coming down the stretch. Even beyond the duck hook, he hit a lot of shots that are just not characteristic of him. That said, I think Webb really did earn this win simply for the fact that he shot 2 under on the day. Well done.
  5. You get in trouble for going onto the green in front of the US Open trophy ceremony and choose to do that ? C'mon buddy, at least do something funny/worth it.
  6. I honestly cannot believe some of the carnage that this course is instilling on the world's best. Kaymer +4, Stricker +5, D. Johnson +5, Mickelson +6, McIlroy +6, Watson +8, Donald +9. And the worst thing about those types of scores is that it's next to impossible to fight your way back to the top because the course best on any given day will be around 66. It just goes to show that the winner will have to play 4 solid rounds and that even one bad round can essentially knock you out of the tournament. I really do love when the course plays like this because I believe that it's the truest test of golf.
  7. 53% I agree with what most are saying here that I got most of general rules ones right, but when it came to the math, time, and percent ones, no offense, but does it really matter?
  8. I think I was one of 5 to 10 people who watched the whole episode tonight, and I don't even know why I was watching. The golf is just hard to describe as anything but mediocre. And the over the top emotion from all of the girls just gets to be too much sometimes. Brandon is completely right about the buying out of the elimination thing. News flash to the girls, just because you were a team for part of the second episode, doesn't mean that you're a team anymore. Way too much crying the whole episode for me. One positive note, it was kind of cool to see Yani on the show tonight. She is the number one woman in the world. Think of how awesome it would be if someone like Luke or Rory showed up on one of the men's shows.
  9. I don't know all the facts, only as much as everyone else here does, but she made it sound like she chose Big Break over the potential career in college golf (19 would put her somewhere in her Freshman year). Not the best choice there in my opinion. And also, in reference to Kelly (I think that was her name, could be wrong), she was barely holding it together on her third shot and had to step away from her putt two to three times. Quite frankly I was amazed that she made it. All I can say is, you're not gonna win the big break with nerves like that.
  10. Whoever the girl that won the elimination challenge was crying in the middle of the challenge, seriously? I want to watch a show about good golfers competing against each other, not a show with slightly (possibly) above average golfers who can't make it through the first elimination challenge without losing it emotionally. But even besides that little bit at the end, the whole show just seems so forced. It's like the girls are there to be on TV, not there to win. I'll skim through some of the next few episodes, but I have no interest in watching a "golf" show with catty women being passive aggressive towards each other that don't even have that much talent. Also, Meghan giving up on a college career to play on the big break? What was she thinking?
  11. Rory McIlroy: 279 (-9) Graeme McDowell: 276 (-12) Stewart Cink: 276 (-12)
  12. Congratz to Ricky for his first win, I can't say why exactly but I've always pulled for him. He really seems like a nice guy. His girlfriend is also quite attractive.....just saying
  13. This. 100 times this. For one, it's not asking for any money, two, I think that asking to play on "volunteer day" is extremely reasonable, and three, obviously they know how much the ball is worth, I'm a piece of their history now, I can have a few passes
  14. (3/18/12) So I've pretty much decided to post in this thread whenever I shoot a career best. Today was one of those days. Shot an 86 to just beat out the 87 I shot last this season. This time the score came while I was at school at a course called Newton Commonwealth. Also, while the 87 was composed of two extremely lopsided nines, today was a routine 43-43. Today really showed how much I'm improving because even though I felt as if I played so-so golf, I just grinded it out, avoided the blowup holes, and really came out with a great score. It also shows me how much more I can accomplish because I left at least 6 shots out there today. The bad of today consisted of 3-putting 3 of my 4 GIR (possibly attributed to getting familiar with distance control with my new putter) and really my driving (I only hit about 2 really good drives all day on the 8th and 11th, the rest were simply playable). However, my irons and hybrids today were on fire all day. I hit possibly the best 6 iron of my life on the 13th hole which is a unique par 4 of about 230 yards, but you're not allowed to carry the pond (which starts at about 185 yards out) in front of the green on your first shot because the club house is right behind the green. I pured a 6 iron that's flight was so perfect as it just continued to rise until it dropped about 5 yards short of the pond at about 175-180 yards out. I also pured my 3-hybrid about 3 times (on the 2nd, 8th, and 15th holes), my 7 iron twice (on the 2nd and 5th), a flushed pitching wedge on the par 3 16th from about 130 yards out to 20ish feet, and had a beautiful 8 iron over a tree on the 17th hole to the front of the green to get up and down for the par of the bogey/par finish i needed. My short game was really great all day too even though I only got up and down 4/13 times when it was realistically possible. While 4/13 isn't great, even getting up and down for par 4 times in a round is ground breaking for me, and there were many other times where I was giving myself close puts for par (I only 3-putted once when I wasn't on the GIR). Overall, this season is shaping up to truly be a great one. If I can get my putting sharpened along with my driving, I really don't think the 70's are too far away.
  15. With how this season's been, there's at least 30 names that could easily win. That being said.... Winner: Tiger Woods Runner Up: Webb Simpson Contenders: Lee Westwood, Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson Dark Horse: Kyle Stanley And shall we make it interesting with another category? Notable to Miss the Cut: Martin Kaymer
  16. 18 is just brutal, doesn't even look fair.
  17. Feherty and Russel turned out much better than I expected. It was extremely interesting and I can't wait to see the Butch Harmon episode next week. As famous as Harmon is, it seems as if he's not as much of a public figure as someone like Haney or Leadbetter is and I'm really interested to see what he's like on the show. Haney's show, on the other hand, could be the worst season he's done so far. I'm tired of watching him teach these people with absolutely atrocious swings the same thing over and over. Sugar Ray a 16 handicap? I guess I'll be a pro in a year or two then...
  18. I thought it was decent. Like others have mentioned here, it has the potential if it can add more behind the scenes footage and less regular coverage. I think it has a lot of potential if they can infiltrate the locker rooms and beyond a bit more. But also, like shamus mentioned, the weird coloring was really annoying and I personally would just like to see regular footage.
  19. I just think that with how this season is shaping up with there being so many great players and so many great story lines, it's impossible to pick a winner right now. This is great for the PGA Tour though and great for golf in general as the game is now finally getting what they've been looking for in players to step up, be compelling, and draw an audience. I can not think of one boring finish on the PGA tour this year and that's with 10 tournaments already. Can't wait for the majors!!
  20. Can Tiger pleaseeeee stop teasing everyone and put together 4 great rounds in one tournament?
  21. Tiger is still losing 1.48 strokes to the field in putting. By comparison, the leader, Tom Gillis, is gaining 4.154 strokes putting.
  22. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I know the USGA is probably a little offended that so many people shot under par last year and they're looking to make up for it, but I feel like they may take this too far. I hope that it doesn't turn into another Winged Foot where 7 over par wins. What do you guys think? Do you still want to see the US Open truly be the toughest test of golf? http://www.golf.com/ap-news/usga-head-expect-us-open-olympic-be-tougher
  23. Just thought I'd share this link as I found it incredibly interesting. I had no idea that Rory was only 5'9" while hitting the ball as far as he does. Now whether or not he hits it as far as he does because of the reasons he explained in the video I'm not sure. But still, I thought that those were some cool stats they threw out there.
  24. Wow, I forgot that there was another PGA Tour event going on this week. Congrats to John! Guaranteed two years on tour now!
