  1. I have the AP2's with PX 5.5's, and love them, and they've helped me down from 12 to 9.8 so far this year. The AP1's just looked too bulky much like my Zing2's I had played years with, and I wanted a players type iron, to be able to tell when I had hit it well and therefore helping my iron play overall. Took me a while to fully bed in with them, but wouldnt go back.
  2. I changed from Ping Zing2's, which I'd used for 12+yrs, to AP2's last September, and wouldnt go back. Yes they took me a few months to get used to them, partcularly the lack of offset etc, and perhaps less weight in the heads, but they are now feeling fab. I'm off 11, and a fairly good ball striker, so go and demo an iron or 2,and see what you think. I also tried Mizuno's, and altho I didnt like them as much, in hindsight that could have ben more to do with the shafts - Dynamic Gold as opposed to the ProjectX in the AP's. Whatever you buy, get fitted, if you are serious about improving, you cant afford not to.
  3. I very much doubt Titleist will bring out more irons next year, so choose betwen the AP's or the ZB's and get on with it.
  4. Or pay for some lessons ? A 3 iron should do your 200yds just fine.
  5. Anyone using one yet, and whats your opinions pls ?? Me,......I cant wait, I've been invited down to Titleist to feature in a Custom Fitting session for the new 909 Drivers, as part of a UK Golf magazine feature. Apparently, we'll be fully custom fitted, with the benefit of the full Titleist Launch monitors and swing analysis technology, in return for our opinions etc, and the best part,.....wait for it,......is that the techicians will make up our 'perfect spec' Driver and give it to us FOC So, in the deepest depths of a British -3 winter, I just now need to keep my swing on tickover .........
  6. My own course here in the UK doesnt have a 'soft spike's only' rule, and a good few members, including myself, much prefer metal traditional spikes. I find that in anything other than completely dry conditions, soft spikes just clog up and are a pain in the @ss. Obey course rules, yes, but given a choice,.........
  7. Ping G5 10.5 Aldila NV65 First & only Driver I have ever bought, 3yrs ago, and still have. Up until then, over the previous 17yrs, I only ever used a 3W, or the Callaway 2W, both of which got me down to my 12HCap. Might well be tempted with a Titleist 909 next year however, Custome Fitted perhaps.
  8. Just been across in Florida, and couldnt resist snapping up 2 pairs of FJ Classic Premier Dry's for $179 each Black with Black Croc Saddle & White with Tan Croc Saddle . Ive always loved the Classics, but £200+ over here is too steep, so couldnt beleive these 'Factory Blemished' pairs for such a steal, and only one of the shoes has even the slightest mark on it Pretty sure I'll only use them in the summer here in UK, so has anyone any tips on keeping these in pristine shape ? I do look after my shoes, and rarely play in shoes that arent clean & polished and ready to go,....I just dont feel complete in mucky shoes Cheers.
  9. Natural draw, but can fade when required.....usually !
  10. Pick/Sweep are the same thing ...surely ? I generally sweep my longer irons, 3/4/5 etc, but as I go down, the better the divot .
  11. I run my own Travel Consultancy aimed at the "Discerning' end of the market, from an office at home in the UK.
  12. Never on the course, only take a Locozade Sport or something. Usually a couple of pints after the game tho, to celebrate or commiserate :-/
  13. My G5 because it was the 1st Driver I tried and could hit well, simple as that. Still works fine. - 260-300yds consistently. WarBird 5 Wood - because it was picked up cheaply 'to try a 5 wood', and quite simply goes a mile for me, consistently. Steel shafted and uber-reliable. Might be tempted with a 4wood, but wont part with the War Bird anyway. AP2's - as I wanted a better set of 'players' clubs, and after an unsure start, i'm hitting them very well now. Vokeys: Just got these too, and am so miffed that they havent been in my bag years before, they're awesome. Simple as. 2Ball Putter : Nice weight, nice feel, it works for me. except sometimes......
  14. I dont have a clue, but Ping might ? Give them a call and have a chat.
  15. Absolutely. Easy as that. And it works.
