  1. Wow! Time to come down on the new guy, huh? Your little club here isn't so attractive afer all. My response was to you Longshanks. And if you felt the advice I gave was in error then let's have those stats you talked about. Getting up on your high horse about this is just silly. My attitude is just fine. I'm not in the habbit of casually correcting individuals unless I can back up my claims. But " Thanks for the info, I'll check it out. " "That's interesting."
  2. One would think that a visit to a golf board would not deterioriate into who knows what and how they know it. Sorry I stepped on your ego.
  3. There's always a critic... I use the doughnut as I said, when I had to wait a long time on the tee to loosen up shoulder muscles and stretch. I never use it during a swing motion. And even if I did, it would only be for 3 or 4 swings. Then several swings without the doughnut to regain rhythem. This is not brain surgery here. If a person is asking about exercises for golf then one can assume that they are fairly new to the game. Using a weighted doughnut is the least of their worries.
  4. Make sure your doc says that you didn't hurt yourself first. Then try this. It's the most effective pain reliever/relaxer I have ever tried, You know what a deep squat is right? Knees wide apart and shoulders drooped down between them with hands tucked under your butt or out in front. OK, get in the shower and gradually turn the hot water up as hot as you can stand it. Aim the nozzle toward the rear of the tub/shower(you may need to adjust it to suit), turn around and get into the deep squat with your back to the shower. Adjust the hot water, the nozzle and your squat stance to suit. Once you're comfy, just sit and relax and let the hot water therapy work on your lower back for 10 minutes or so(I stay 20-30 min when mines really bad). Good luck!
  5. I use the Bowflex. I got it when I injured my shoulder and it seems to be helping quite a bit. Before the Bowflex I used those bungi type 'power bands' with handles for stretching and limbering up. Oh and I carry a little weighted red doughnut for a quick warm up on the course if I have to wait on the tee for very long. Hope this helps.
  6. Oh I forgot to add something in my previous post. I recently found a very nice course with it's own practice facility, open 7 days. The large bucket is $6 and the chipping green is surrounded by 4 sand traps and 200+ balls - all FREE! Plus a very nice putting green! I spent 4 hours out there Labor Day, just chipping and putting and driving - $6.00 - Not too bad!
  7. I thought the ranges were a little low as well. I used to spend $200+ every week when I was playing a lot - that's muni courses. The group I played with didn't care for 'club golf' so we got used to traveling the surrounding cities for every muni course we could find. I'm a Senior now so they give me a small 'break' on greens fees. Still $30 a pop is not chicken feed. I'm coming back from a shoulder injury so I only have 8 rounds over 8 weeks this summer, but I'm ready to start 3 times a week now that the weather will be cooling. BTW, I'm thinking seriously of heading south for Florida! I'm not sure I want another winter on these old bones! I'm sure the rates will be higher down there!
  8. I wish I could have voted for both! My Top 5 Natalie Paula Lorena Grace Park Anna Rawson Jan Stephenson(Hon Mention)
  9. I let my SkyCaddie run dead a few weeks ago during a round and I can't tell you how much I missed it! Car charger is on order! Thx for the smilie!
  10. Just joined up. Looks like a nice place... I'm recovering from a torn rotator cuff and trying to find my swing again. 8 rounds under my belt so far. Let me tell you, it ain't easy! No pain at all, but I'm still favoring the shoulder off the tee. Mind games! Used to play at a 12 but now, I'm lucky to break 90! Although, last week had an 85 and 87! It'll come around - I'm confident!
  11. I have a few I enjoy, all public. RiverGlenCC, is directly accross the street from me. I could walk, but I'm too lazy. BrookShireGC, is an old Muni course that is still in good shape and easy to just walk-on and priced well for seniors. GolfClubOfIndiana, is a nice track and is set on an old farm property. The farm house is the pro shop. BearSlideGC , what a beast! Links style with 2 ft high 'gorse' just off the 2nd cut of rough! Sort of 'target golf' with a british feel.
  12. I have to go with what these old eyes have told me. I've watched Tiger for a long time, heard about him for even longer. He's the best player in the world, no doubt. I've watched Jack ever since his amature days and his first year as a Pro. Unbelievable talent. Jack was never a natural athelete. He worked very hard on his game and his conditioning and became the best golfer in the world. But he was still the best when he was so out of shape! Only Arnie and Gary could challenge him... later Trevenio and Watson... no slouches in their own right! Theoretically, if Jack and Tiger were both 30 at the same time, every major would be a 'pickem'. Neither would play only 15 tourneyments - they would be playing each and everyone! Both are furious competitors! Up to this point in time - Jack is the king. Maybe in 10 years, I'll revise my feelings.
  13. Erin Rocks! She's a breath of fresh air on some rather boring sports games. I'll watch the game just to get a glimpse of her and hear her reporting. I just wish one of those young studs would step up to the plate with a 10ct ring and lifelong committment. She deserves all the best.
  14. I'm with you BigOak! 63 here! Golds are fine with me too! I'm just coming back from a torn rotator cuff and finding my swing again. Damn, it's hard! I thought I could just go back out there and swing, you know like riding a bike... hell no! My short game is coming around but off the tee is a real adventure! I keep favoring the shoulder! Even though there is absolutely NO pain! Funny how the mind plays tricks, huh? Maybe next season I'll be ready for a game with ya!
