  1. Was going to say this. I tried S&T; about eight years ago before anyone even knew what it was. At the time, the guy who introduced it to me didn't give me much information about it besides "keep your weight on your left foot." I tried it and hit some good, some bad. I dismissed it shortly after that because I just didn't know a lot about it and it felt weird. It felt weird because I had no idea what I was doing. The bad thing is, I had no idea what I was doing when I was using my more "traditional" swing. The same guy who introduced me to S&T; eight years ago has been giving me lessons the past few months and I'm telling you, when you have someone who knows what they're doing watching over you and putting you in the positions you need to be in it's completely different. I've learned more in three lessons than I have in the previous eight years when I would struggle with some fades one week, draws the next, and then a big slice off the edge of the planet the next week. If you're doing it correctly, you will not slice the ball.
  2. I really don't think Tiger is done. We'll never see the dominant Tiger of the year 2000 simply because the competition has caught up with him, but he's not done. The guy just hasn't played or practiced enough to get back into form. I don't care who you are, you cannot just sit on the couch for a few months with no practice or playing and walk into a tournament and expect to dominate. When Tiger switched to Haney, he went nearly two years and only won one tournament if I'm not mistaken? It takes time to make swing changes alone, and he's trying to do it while coming back from an injury. Tiger is just too good to be finished. But, time will tell.
  3. In my experience, most amateurs already align themselves right of the target at address. My guess is, you're aligned right of the target and if you're trying to play a draw, you aim even further right of the target than you were previously. With your closed clubface and inside-out swing path, you're going to hit a shot that takes off right of your target and draws back. It has no choice but to start right of the target because you are aligned way right of the target. So why it may feel like it takes off right and draws back (and it does in relation to your target), in reality, you're likely hitting a little straight or pull-draw. That's the only explanation I can think of, anyway. Either way, as long as you're able to make it work and duplicate it time after time, it really doesn't matter.
  4. I think he'll be as motivated as ever. I think he already was motivated, but the jabs by Stevie have to have him fuming on the inside. He's hitting the ball okay, he just isn't making the putts that he used to be automatic at. Once the putts start to fall, you'll start seeing the scores we're accustomed to seeing from Tiger.
  5. Think you could draw that out with crayon so it's more on my level? So is B top of the putter face and A is the bottom? If I impact it on the bottom (A) it will feel like the heel and if I impact it on the top (B) it will feel like the toe? I don't understand the line in the drawing... Is it indicating that the face is slightly angled because of the loft of the putter?
  6. When you say the center of gravity is angled, slightly, what are you referring too? Where is it angled? How does one need to impact the ball to counteract this so that the putt feels solid?
  7. Not surprising since your Diablo iron's lofts are all 1 or two degrees stronger. Depending on when the Hogan blades were last checked for loft/lie, your Diablo's may even be stronger than that.
  8. every so slightly toward the hell with their blade putter? Anytime I'ved used an Anser style putter, I feel like I have to line up and play the ball just a little toward the heel. Any time I try to line the alignment line on the putter with the center of the ball I get a sort of dead feeling at impact; almost as if I caught the ball on the toe. Anyone else, or am I the only weird one?
  9. $40k per year? Even with all expenses paid, that's not much of a salary. You likely would have caddies dropping like flies for "real world" jobs because they can make more money, get health insurance (at least I assume caddies don't get paid health insurance?), etc. Even if they have it paid for them, $40k just isn't much.
  10. The email that I received simply said something like "please log into the Masters website to see if you've been selected." Two guys I work with who applied never received an email and got excited that maybe they had won. When they logged into the Masters website they got the same "We regret to inform you..." message as I did.
  11. Good point. Probably right, but still wouldn't surprise me since Stevie has placed his foot into his mouth previously.
  12. Must important thing is making sure it fits you. Most putters have four degrees of loft and are 71 lie. I like mine to be about 70 lie and anywhere from .5 - 2 loft. Just depends on the putter. Some look different than others. My current putter is 7.75 lie and .5 loft. Keep in mind that the number 1 player in the world currently uses a putter that costs around $80 I believe.
  13. Anyone lucky enough to get them?
  14. Wouldn't surprise me if Stevie comes out and releases some information that Tiger may not want out. Of course, Tiger could have paid him to keep quite too. I don't think they're over paid. Sure a few caddies who are lucky enough to carry the bag for big name players make a lot, but what about the guy who is carrying the bag of the guy who's struggling to make cuts? Just because there's a few making a ton doesn't mean they are all overpaid.
  15. Yeah, it really is scary. Scary that the average golfer doesn't know enough to do their own research and figure out why the ball does what it does. They just see someone as "One of Golf Digest's best Young Teachers" or whatever the title may be and assume that the person has to know what they're talking about. There's a lot of great teachers out there that never get their name thrown out for being one of the "best." Sadly, some will never go to them for a lesson because of this. The guy I go to for example. He was stacking and tilting before stacking and titling even became popular. He learned from Andy and I can remember a time about eight years ago he gave me a quick lesson and was telling me to keep most of my weight on my left side through the swing. Well, eight years ago I thought he was crazy. Did it for a week or so and went back to the "traditional" swing. If I only knew then what I know now. Wish I had listened. But, at the time, that wasn't what Golf Digest was telling me to do. I've also been to the guys who are thought of as the "best in the state" and learned more in twenty minutes with my buddy here recently than I did in multiple lessons with the "best."
  16. Quote: Originally Posted by Shindig Maybe I'm not reading it carefully enough, but hitting a draw with an open club face is a common thing. Not necessarily the way he's describing it, but it's far from a trick shot. I realize that a draw can be hit with the face open, but the part that I just can't understand is: Quote: Keep in mind, it’s not a closed club face that causes a draw, but rather a club face that is ‘closing!’ Ah…read that again! As long as your club face is the ‘the process’ of closing, it can still be open to the line of flight and curve the ball to the left. and Quote: Once the face is set open, feel the face is closing hard in the downswing. The bottom picture in the article has a caption of "Right Palm Turns Aggressively Downward." Trying to actively close the face hard in the downswing can't be a consistent approach to swinging a golf club. He's supposed to be on the best young teachers out there, yet I have no idea how he's able to teach this kind of thing and get people to continue to pay him money.
  17. Curious to hear thoughts on this: http://rittergolf.com/golf/golf/instruction/516/mission-impossible I don't agree with it, but thought I'd post for the sake of discussion. I can't see how people every expect to be consistent with something like this.
  18. Ummmm.... yeah, I am serious. The Golf Channel should have a good enough grasp on the tech side of things to be able to record a show like this (especially after doing it for how many years now? Eight?) and allow these guys to play their game. You record everything from a few different angles and edit it for TV later. You don't tell the participants to wait to hit a shot so that the camera guy can get into an optimal position. I have a hard time believing that's what happens and if it does, The Golf Channel should be taking a serious look at how that show is created. Always a chance of anyone embarrassing themselves out there no matter who it is. I do feel that these two guys have less of a chance of doing that than Carl or Will. I've not been sold on Carl's ability since the first swing. Will can obviously play, but seems like a head case at times.
  19. When guys are playing for a spot in a PGA Tour event, club deals and money, I would think it would be treated like a competition. Not just an exhibition between a couple good golfers and a few "makes good TV" guys. Thank you. I was beginning to think I was the only one with these feelings. Why would this be any different than a PGA Tour event? The Golf Channel has cameras and techs all over the place when they're televising a PGA Tour event, why not this show?
  20. Nevermind. Looks like received an email saying my invite to the prov1 deal is on its way. thanks.
  21. I can't say for sure, but I'd have to guess they can find great golfers with some kind of outgoing personality? Maybe not. I read the post earlier outlining why it's tougher to get good men golfers for the show. I'm just not sure I agree. We're not talking about getting guys who are already on some mini-tour or the Nationwide Tour. Those guys are getting their break. What I'm talking about is the guy who is an insurance agent with two kids who can go out and shoot under par just about anywhere but because of family and work can't just drop it all and try to make it on tour. There's a lot of guys out there like that. I'm getting ready to play in the City Golf Championship here and there's always a handful of guys who are near the top of the leaderboard who will shoot five under or better for the four day tournament and they aren't top college golfers and aren't currently on a a mini tour. This is just one city and a relatively small one at that. I would guess so. Besides the women golfers, have they ever actually tried it my way? If not, how to do they know this current way is the best way? I haven't kept up with all of the seasons of the show, but based on discussions I've read it doesn't sound like to me that they've ever had a season with 10 guys (or however many they have) that have a legit chance to compete on any tour.
  22. I did have another question unrelated to the original topic. Got an email today for the ProV1 deal when you refer friends. I referred some friends and family and then tried to go to the deal and got a "page cannot be found" page.
  23. Yup! Thanks. I'm all signed up.
