  1. Shackamaxon CC Par 71 Blue 6709 73/131 White 6369 71.3/129
  2. Democratic president + Democratic congress = Out of control spending nightmare FWIW, if the congress was republican I'd vote for the democrats
  3. I like him too. Great potential. Tiger is going to have his hands full when he gets back with these young superstars.
  4. You'll get used to them. I wear glasses for golf and everything else...... well, almost everything else........
  5. I know someone who has had chronic back problems. He started to use inversion therapy and the back issues have been controlled ever since. He swears by it. Hang upside down for like a half hour a day or something like that.
  6. Snob: One who tends to patronize, rebuff, or ignore people regarded as social inferiors and imitate, admire, or seek association with people regarded as social superiors. One who affects an offensive air of self-satisfied superiority in matters of taste or intellect. Sorry, but you sound like a bit of a snob yourself.
  7. I use a 4 wood and love it. Any slight decrease in distance is more than compensated by the ease of use and improved accuracy.
  8. The Lower Course at Baltusrol used to be my favorite but I think my new favorite is Shackamaxon CC now. Tillinghast made both courses about the same time and they are very similar. Both are always in immaculate condition. I just like some of the things he put in Shack like a drivable par 4 (this was in 1916, before it became so popular) and a true island green on a par 4. Hell, I liked it so much I joined the club.
  9. Let's just face it. There is a segment of our population who just consistantly make poor decisions. It might be how they spend money, treat the family, pick significant others or what they wear. Dress codes level the playing field and let them know what's appropriate. Also, I think it's nice to have a written dress code to inform those that might not be familiar with what's appropriate. Dosen't it feel lousy to get to a restaurant without a jacket only to find out jackets are required.
  10. I will continue to play as long as I am not making anyone wait too long.
  11. I'm a relatively long hitter and have been known to surpass 300 yds but I now know my drives are not as far as I once thought. Many times the yardages written on the scorecards are inaccurate. I used to see how far I had left into the green and subtract from the total yardage written on the scorecard to figure my driving distance. Well, I recently got the Skycaddie and it has a button where it can measure the distance of your shots. Just press it where you take the shot and press it again when you get to your ball. This seems much more accurate and often my drive is actually shorter than I thought it was. Like myself, I bet many high hanicappers are not being dishonest, just inaccurate in their measurements.
  12. At the May 14th member guest many were wearing bermuda shorts. Maybe that's part of the point, give someone an inch and they'll take a mile (even at the hallowed halls of Baltusrol). Maybe the official rules are July and August but they opened the door. There's is always someone looking to push the envelope of what is appropriate, which is why I think dress codes are a good idea.
  13. Around here there is a move to improve the dress of players. The private clubs have always had a strict dress code. A few years ago there were a few that didn't even let you wear shorts. I remember playing Baltusrol (as a guest) on a near 100 degree day with high humidity in kakhi's. Very uncomfortable. The members complained for years until they finally allowed bermuda shorts. Two years ago the local Muni's didn't care if you wore a Batman costume and rollerskates as long as you paid. Now there is a manditory collared shirt dress code. I think it was a good move. After all, most sports have uniforms that are appropriate to wear.
  14. Footjoy Comfort series. Feels great from the moment I put them on.
  15. My well struck shot is a draw. The issues I have is when I over draw or hook the ball. Still a work in progress.
