  1. pro baseball doesn't allow aluminum bats for 1 reason... safety. the reaction time for an infielder would be unmanageable. a line drive would kill, literally. also the stadiums are too small for the distance they hit. Pro golfers only face the latter worry...courses that are too short...unless they make 'em unGodly tight. that's what technology CAN do, but the human aspect of the game of golf tells me that the Pros will still find themselves in trouble from time to time, given the best mankind can invent..... I admire God given talent that has been tweaked to perfection, and by those still tweaking...I've seen some mighty fine "amatures". ..and I didn't see a racked buck in a week sittin' in a tree stand.... got cold tho....
  2. the only thing that'll go 300 yds for me.....is my deer rifle I wish I'd started 35 years ago when I was 15(or earlier), but hardly anyone around here played... our school didn't have a golf team(we graduated 75 kids)... so I admire anyone who can hit the ball that far... but I'm MUCH more impressed by how accurate someone can be with their irons !!! .......not me, I said "someone"... i couldn't hit the bull in the keester with a bass fiddle....
  3. Thanks fellows...your input is taken to heart, and applied...this eve I re-read then hit the BY...COLD/WINDY,so I was quick...but it was obviously better from the start...I wish I knew a place where I could get videoed.... I'd post it in a NYM............
  4. at impact, the ball goes 45* dead straight... it actually appears, when I do a slooooow practice swing, that the back of my hand is 45* off from it should be, and I can't seem to conciously adjust it. what it feels like(left hand), is like I'm thrusting a dagger into the ball... that hand position. the wrist roll has obviously left the building...and it never told me . I thank you for your response and time on this.
  5. ok...I'll show my ignorance here.... explain "post",please.... if you're referring to video...I've never done that...don't know where to get that done edit: my misses are always off at a 45* right angle... obvious clubface open..correct?
  6. snow days?.... in Myrtle Beach? I love SC !!! 'specially Pawleys Island !!!
  7. I practice @ day in my BYard with a wedge... I can hit 'em out to about 70 yds... last year I could CONSISTENTLY put 'em w/i 6' of my basket.... not any more... now I can't hit 'em anywhere CLOSE to the basket... it's pathetic... I prided myself on my short game, as it was all I practiced for the most part. Now, I'm ashamed for anyone see me hit a ball, 'cuz it's BAAAAAAD.... where did it go? and how do I get it back? I swing exactly the way I thought I had been... but this ain't right. I spent all spring/summer working @ the range, now I can't even hit a wedge in my own BY..... I took lessons and all that....now I'm not sure if it's worth all the effort and $$...and time. Maybe some folks weren't meant to be golfers.... no matter how much the try..... where did it go.....
  8. 1st... they obviously had no proper rearing, or they'd KNOW respect... blame the parents first. 2nd..I hope the judge is a golfer.................
  9. I ground the club..then lift the club ever so slightly..then start the backswing. it should be noted that only a fool would follow this style, as I've not broken 100 thus far...
  10. Hi... welcome aboard!! I lived in Hawaii for 19 months back in 76-77...Schofield Bks. I wish I was there with ya again!!
  11. Thanks Fellows... wonderful insight that you've given. I appreciate the advice, and will try to heed it.
  12. i'm ready to take up knitting... spent countless hrs on the range makin' good headway... only to fall apart on ther grass... I don't get it. I don't have the extra time to play alot, so it's meaningful when I do get out...but not today...frustration personified. it HAS to be the fact that a SCORE is being kept, not hit it again and try to do better like the range. Holy Cow what a travestyand embarrasment to the golfing world. I even darn near wrecked the cart... but, per the last time I played this course...a miraculous chip on the final hole, from off the green that holed, made it almost bearable.........almost. as a musician, I understand natural ability. I also know that varies with everyone, and all the work won't make you as good as you wanna be, unless it's trained properly. i'm thinking lessons...or maybe a 3 day school that's not TOOOO expensive. It's October... time to get my bow out and hit the treestand...the bucks are movin'.
  13. I use a Campaign coin commemorating the conflicts the 25th Inf.Div. have been involved in...about 1" rd...not hard to spot on the greens.
  14. started about 6 years ago....ave about 2 or 3 rounds/year....that's why I still stink up the course.....but I love it.
  15. Pawleys Plantation....Pawleys' Island,South Carolina..... you won't be sorry,Bro!
  16. I'll be 50 this Sept...and I hope to break 100 this year. I went to a "instructor" @ the local range, and he tried to help, but it was SLOOOW...then I found a video that said he could "teach me to hit the ball as straight as I could point..." I know what yer thinkin' too.... but Bro, after doing what he says, I shaved 10 strokes off the 1st round I played this year(I've only played 3 thus far...too busy) . I was on track to break 100 last Sun, but I plumb wore out. I bucket- washed two vehicles before I went to the course(where I proceded to hit a bucket before the rd.) I hate to admit that I'm not the man I was @ 30....but I won't be so foolish before my next rd..whenever that may be. We have several nice courses w/i driving distance, should anyone be interested in playing in the Mountain State. I love the game of golf, and wished I had got into it 35 years ago......
  17. just a note to say Hi...lookin' forward to being a part of your community! I haven't been playing golf long, but love the game... still tryin' to break a hundred....be gentle with the newbie folks...
