What are you looking to replace for 2k10
schapman replied to brullo1's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
New bag since the legs on mine don't work right (only lasted 3/4 of a season before failing on me so no more Adidas for that) Looking into a 5 wood for something a bit easier to hit off the deck. I'm not a huge fan of my Callaway so i might switch brands there. Hoping to replace my 56* as I have much better shots with the 60* and I like the DSG on it. -
Last (Golf) Thing You Bought?
schapman replied to JYB's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Went into golftown today to pick out a driver since I got my credit back from Adams to the store for my busted XTD. Tried the speedline and the cleveland hibore xls in my sig. Pretty much fell in love with the cleveland on the simulator right away. Was hitting it farther and straighter than the Adams offering. it was also on sale for $148 and with the credit on my busted Adams driver it was a straight swap to a new driver for me :) -
I got the Arnold Palmer one from costco for about $60CAD and I'm pretty happy with it.

Finally heard back after pestering Golf Town. Got a $120 credit from Adams towards a new driver. Thinking about the Speedline that is on sale for $200 or a Cobra.

Back at the doctors again today after my back getting worse. I have around 25% of my normal rotation in my back. Massage therapy and anti inflammitories are on the schedule for now. As well as no golf, no weights, no mountain biking. Guess I'll be getting some reading done :)
-
Got rear ended in my car about 1.5 weeks ago. Sitting at work right now with maybe 30 degrees of rotation in my back and in pain just sitting. Guess I'm looking forward to next spring unless this clears up soon :( Anyone else on the IR?

At golftown it was only $1/club + cost of the grip as long as you bought them there. I think I did my last set for around $70 or so as I didn't go overboard on the grip type i chose.

All the courses I play have coloured blocks in the ground to reference what the sign says. Then I'll just pace off to where the actual markers are that day. AFAIK they are all measured to the center of the green.

I tend to go quickly because I figure with my handicap I'm going to be taking more shots than others so I should speed them up to make up the time.

Played when I was really young then stopped for years. Last year we went golfing for my Stag and I got hooked again. So this year has been a decent "rookie" year for me. Hoping to get 3-4 more rounds in before the weather turns really foul and we get the fall rains.

Don't remind me about head-fi. They are the cause of many turnovers of headphones in my past :)
-
I like to take my zune + some in ear headphones to the range. Where I go there are constantly people loudly talking, giving each other lessons or just kids running around sometimes. I lose all my concentration so i just pop in the earphones and block it all out. I use Westone UM-1s. $109 at earphonesolutions.com and a great investment in sound quality + isolation (and they stay in too)

Took it into Golf Town last night. No questions asked and they filled out the form to send it back to Adams. Maybe I'll get super lucky and they'll just replace it with a new speedline :)

Just called them. Apparently since they don't sell direct I have to take it into the store where I bought it. Hoping they can sort me out.

Any one had any dealings with Adams in the past? My driver broke today on the 3rd hole. I emailed them but was wondering if anyone else had has to deal with them in the past.

Nothing drives me nuts more than hitting a shot that I know is in play and still losing the ball. How do others deal with this? I usually take a penalty stroke and drop from the general area to keep up pace but it's so angering.

What are your top 3 drivers for a high handicapper?
schapman replied to Sheekamoo's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I'm pretty happy with mine. I got it on a clearance sale for around a $100 and for that price it's a steal. Driving is the one part of my game that stays pretty consistent and good and I think the square tech + whatever other magic they put into this club is why. -
Any of y'all not carry hybrids?
schapman replied to Laxplayer201092's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have a 23* hybrid that I occasionally try to use. I can't hit it for the life of me (hence it being up for sale in the marketplace). Something about it being between an iron and a fairway wood just doesn't gel with me -
$5.50CAD at the range with mats for 75 balls. If I go to a course that actually has grass to hit off, it's usually around $5 for 40 balls or so. These are unfortunately rare around here though.

Anyone ever returned a bag to Taylormade?
schapman replied to mhodar13's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I have an ADIDAS bag (so basically taylormade). When I called about the legs not workign right they said I had to take it to my local place where I got it. Of course I can't find my receipt though :( -
I always play from the whites on the local courses. I'm sure there are a few I could play the blues from distance wise. For the most part it's not an issue of distance as I can drive pretty well, but it's the extra hazards that come into play. Pretty much comes down to, driver on the whites I'm safe even if I hit it shorter where if I played the blues I'd probably be in the sand or water. So for me, I'll stick to whites until I'm good enough to score well on blues.
-
I don't use mine much off the tee. I tend to hit quite straight with the driver. I will break it out if a misshit to one side that goes too long will end up with trouble (water or such). Saved me on my last round when I hooked one with the 3 wood and ended up just short of the water. That with a driver would have been some extra strokes :)

Bad score... but good round, must be a golf thing?
schapman replied to McGolf-Doggie's topic in Golf Talk
Playing on saturday I felt like I was going along pretty well with a bogey average. then a couple holes got me. Had a 50 on the front 9. I was determined to make up for it and just play a consistent game for the second 9 and shot a 44 on the back. 94 is my lowest score since starting this year and my first time breaking 100 :) Can't wait to get out there and best that. -
I just broke 100 for the first time today (started golfing this year after a 15 year layoff from golfing as a kid). Shot a 94 (50/44). Great feeling and now I'm looking forward to the 80s. I already know the shots I hit today that kept me on the topside of 90 so workng on those and I'm a happy camper.

Try UPS ground coming from the US -> Canada. They brokerage fees they charge are just stupid. I avoid them like the plague now.
