  2. So, what am I going to do with the hickory shaft, Wilson mashie that I'm restoring?
  3. I think I'm going to drop out of this thread. Later. ;)
  4. Which is why I stay away from Florida. ;)
  5. What magic feature of a concealed weapon makes you "safe?" You are at greater risk of suicide than you are for death by a gun. And if you own a gun, your risk of suicide is higher than for non gun owners.
  6. Why do I keep seeing Jack T. Ripper pulling a ma duece out of his golf bag while muttering about "precious bodily fluids?"
  7. The true fallacy is that a "responsible CCW person" would find it ness essay to carry his or her piece onto a golf course in the first place. Lets be realistic here. Exactly how often is it that golfers are attacked by gun wielding maniacs stumbling out of the woods along the 6th fairway? Even in that situation, you are already at a significant disadvantage because your weapon is zipped up inside your golf bag. You'd probably have as much cance of success pulling out the 7 iron and whacking him upside the head (or is that a wedge shot?).
  8. With Munis, your going to be stuck with the local or state laws. Fortunately, I live in a sane state that still allows local government to set laws barring firearms from public parks (and golf courses).
  9. How many golf courses allow weapons on the grounds? I'm willing to bet that insurance rates are higher for courses that do not have a "no firearms" policy.
  10. These days, Barney would have shot Ernest T. Bass the first time Enest T. threw rocks at him.
  11. I don't know if this has been posted yet, but. . . Quote: “Words were exchanged about golf etiquette and playing through,” police Capt. Thomas Steck told the New Britain Herald . “A man in the first group then went to his golf cart and retrieved a firearm.” At that point, the Herald reports, Baeza hid the gun under his clothes then turned to the party behind him and pulled up his shirt to reveal it. The group that was threatened informed the golf shop, who telephoned the police who later arrived at the scene. Baeza was arrested and his gun and permit were both seized, Golf.com reports. He is now facing threatening and breach of peace charges, according to NBC Connecticut, as well as a ban from ever playing at Stanley Golf Course again. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/early-lead/wp/2015/05/07/golfer-pulls-gun-out-on-course-after-being-told-he-was-moving-too-slowly/
  12. I am a gun owner, and I like to go to the range (shooting). that being said, however, I do not CCW, nor do I have any desire to do so. (And I often work as a contractor in some of the roughest parts of Chicago.) While the majority of gun owners are sane, normal people, I know a few people with CCW permits and I have often found that the person who is compelled to CCW everywhere a little bit off in my opinion. (the George Zimmerman type, if you catch my drift) A gun is a tool. Useful in certain, rare circumstances, but the vast majority of us will never, ever, ever, have the need to use one (unless we are deliberately looking to do so i.e. George Zimmerman) If you are that insecure, that you feel that you need to carry a loaded gun with you everywhere, then I don't want to be around you. Besides, as far as I can tell, all the golf courses around me have specific "No Firearms" policies.
  13. Back in the '80s, I worked as a lab chemist and as a hazardous waste tech. The standing joke went like this: Q: What's the difference between a chef and a chemist? A: Chefs wash their hands after they piss.
  14. I prefer the Younger, myself.
  15. I'm an old dawg. I never learned to shake.

    Rugby

My son plays HS rugby. He is on both the JV side and the Frosh/soph side as a a winger. He had a great game on Sunday on the FS side. He scored a try and set up two more. Then he sat out the second half to let some of the freshmen kids play. I've got him in golf lessons, but it's hard getting him to the range between rugby practices and games. (Sorry for the thread necromancy).
  17. I'm in the same boat, sort of Getting back in after being away too long.
  18. Hello all. Another old fart returning to the follies of his youth. I'm trying to get back into the game. I played a little in my 20s, then for various reasons lost the time to play. My son, who is 16 has expressed a desire to play so I signed is both up for beginner lessons at the local park district I was pleased to find that I can still hit the short irons nicely (in spite of the fact that they are 30 year old taylormade blades) -- Mark.
