Yea try Dynamic gold or Project X. They have a low trajectory and steel is plenty more accurate than graphite! I am planning on putting steel in my hybrid, actually.

thats what happened with Maxfli XS-90. I bought like 5 dozen right before they stopped making them and turned them in to the TP Red. I got a dozen left somewhere....
-
well, i would buy it if it had a straight shaft...
-
Dont forget that his driver is actually the 380cc Dymo.

07 burner TP is IMO the greatest 3 wood ever made. That or the r7 ts. I can bomb it HUGE with either of those. Why do you think that those are the most played 3 woods on tour?

Are you really good enough to play your equipment
miller72 replied to AbsoluteZero's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
ok, it all comes down to this for you: can you hit your irons well enough? I was playing tommy armours (GI) this summer, and (i consider irons to be a strong point in my golf game) i was the only junior player at my country club who could actually hit a 3 and 4 iron. As a present for my birthday, (and for making varsity golf as an 8th grader), my parents got me fitted by my pro for some new irons. It ended up being the mizuno's in my sig. After about a wekk of everyday after school on the range, i could easily hit all the irons in the set. i was about a 6 handicap then, but the new irons got me to where my handicap is now. I am very happy with them, and i didnt think that i would be. If you do go ahead and purchase "player's" irons, make sure that you get fit. I know that shaft played a big role in it with me. hope this helps ~Chris -
i found the round ones to be more iron like and workable. When it came down to it, the burner was just more for me. The nikes are a great low to mid handicap hybrid, imho. Give the tour launch burner hybrid, or the taylormade tp hybrid a try though, they are both solid clubs

well, during last summer, i went for a chipping lesson and my pro told me to do my normal chip swing, and the first ball i hit went in the hole. He litteraly got into his cart and drove to back to the clubhouse. I am pretty good friends with my pro, and we both knew he was kidding... but that was the single funniest thing besides someone getiing hit in the head with their own flopshot that i have ever seen on a golfcourse ~Chris

well i have a couple of those spin doctor wedges.... I hit one and it spun from 4 yards off the green, tore a path thru the rough, and settled about 3 yards from the pin. The total distance it spun back was like 18 or so yards. My friend thought that i was using my normal wedge (vokey), and he was like "damn, im gonna have to get me some of those!!!!". So the next time i see him he has brand new wedges and cant spin it back for crap, so i told him what i was really using.... He was PISSED OFF!!! lol...thats the funniest ting that i have ever seen or done on a golf course... ~Chris

Yea, they'll have to call those victory Yellow!!! i got a big thing of acetone to take the paint off of my wedges, and filled them all in with lime green. I dont have a camera, though... -
aldila proto "by you" i think thats what adams put in the idea pro. Best hybrid shaft out there

Do you take the gloves off to putt?
miller72 replied to TheNatural's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
well, i used to keep it on, but now i take it off after every shot so that i dont have goofy tan lines.... somtimes i dont even wear one at all. All the new grips on my clubs are soft, so unless i am having a huge practice seesion at the range, i usually just leave it off ~Chris -
WEll, if you have a $350 limit, then i wouuld suggest looking at like an r7 limited, or maybe and ft-5 tour!... your HI is low enough to play either... happy hunting ~Chris

what 4 wood would you recommend
miller72 replied to Island Par's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
The F-60 by mizuno is a good 4 wood... also try the NEW cleveland launcher 4 wood. Those things are sick!!! -
definetly try the mizuno MP line.... probably the 52's Also give the nike victory red split cavities a go... They have that nice forged feel, and are on borderlin better player/ Game improvment. Similar to the 52's

Putting better with a Blade Vs Mallet
miller72 replied to flguy's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
same thing happend to me. I had this crappy old Dunlop Vista putter. It was pretty much a direct copy of the newport by SC... well, i got a new putter for my birthday (in september) and got a white steel 2 ball. my putting got worse, if anything with it. I am now looking back into blades.... Ping Karsten series or Taylormade Rossa series... just gotta find the right model... -
well, it worked ok, but it sounded a bit different i think. I havent played in like 2 months, so i test it against my dad's this week. I will go over to the pro at my club and ask him about it as well. If it is only a line of chips in the paint, where can you get it fixed????
-
well, they have really cool grinds, but i grind my own wedges. They are great clubs. They are actually pretty different than the DSG, but have the same idea going. I grind my own wedges, and have heel relief, as well as trailing edge relief, without getting them bent (yea my dad lets me because i took workshop at school and know how). Plus, i keep my loft gaps even. The only downside to the TVD grinds are that they are so dang expensive.
-
ok, i am going out to play since it is like 60* here. I will tell you how it performs, and if it affects the play of the driver.
-
i will try to post pics tommorow... (maybe i can send it in and get an FT-9!!!!!)
-
well, if you know what the FT-5 looks like, there is a front section, and the a small "seam type thing" and then there is the rest of the club. It is about 3 millimeters back from the "seam" and it is very distracting at address. I will have to get out and hit it when it warms up, to see if it is a crack that affects the club..... Any other help? ~Chris
-
OK, My Ft -5 has a scratch thing on the head, and I cant tell if it is a crack in the club or not...Iit is very distracting at address. I just noticed it, but i cant hit the club right now because it is like 50* outside and the snow is still on the ground. I bought it in september, and didn't register the club until today (doh!!). I was wondering whether this has happened to anyone else, and if anyone has dealt with Callaway customer service. I registered it under my Dad's name, so i dont know if i want to call them right off. Thanks ~Chris
