You know whats kinda funny, we do all kinds of different drills and methods to make us hit the ball well, like work on our hip turn or shoulder turn, yet all that matters is how the club is when it hits the ball and how hard it is. Golf is simple yet so difficult to master

I'm not sure if chad campbell will keep it up, though he has before, but i think kenny perry is the biggest problem. But, hey it's anyones game

They aren't as bad as softball players, and maybe female bowlers....?

HAHAAHA, I was kind of thinking that too! It was a nice shirt up to the unorthodox blue coming out. It looked kinda ninja, but kinda weird. Better than a lot of people though!

Many may know this, but for the ones who don't, I think one of the best ways to increase your ball striking is by working on swing plane. It is the cause of hooks/slices, some of the most common problems with golfers today. If you go to youtube and search golf swing plane, it will explain how to have a right swing plane. This is something my coach taught me, now my ball striking is increasing tremendously. Good Luck everyone!

Hooking With Woods and Hybrids
Paddymaster replied to cyclonez7's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
He's right Hooks are from swing plane. Im 100% sure. You are most likely coming inside to out, having your club come inside on the upswing and downswing. Look videos on swing plane on google, it should explain. -
I'm not completely sure you are understanding what I'm saying. I like the handicap system because it works. I just dislike some of the people going around putting down some people that are higher handicaps. Now I'm not saying many people do, but recently I've seen a lot. While handicap is a good measure, people, like myself, could be higher or lower if it's unofficial. Say we were to get in an argument and your say a 3 handicap, you may say, "what do you know, your a 10." Whether I'm a 10 or not, it doesn't really explain myself as a golfer. I just think it's too bad that some people abuse the handicap index, which can roughly tell how good a player is, and think it describes every golfer completely. So in the end, I just dislike the people abusing the handicap index to put another player down. I'm not blaming handicap, I'm shunning the people. I just want to see what you guys think. P.S. TONS of golfers have helped me that have been higher. Yet I have seen a few others discount what others have said because of higher handicap

Honesty, it's starting to bother me how everyone is hung up on handicap. I don't really believe handicap really tells how good a player is. I even question how many people on Thesandtrap forum have an official handicap. I know I don't. I also don't see the point of trying to be better than people on this forum because it's impossible to tell if someone is being truthful. For all you know, I may shoot 120's. Also, some people play easier courses than others. I just think people should relax and stop trying to judge people via internet because it's impossible. Just keep it in mind. P.S. I shoot high 100's, but I hit a pitching wedge 230 yards :P

Am I on track?
Paddymaster replied to right handed phil mickelson's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I would try to focus on just lowering scores, rather then lower handicap. Its the same thing, but you may get more positive and more feed back from each score rather then a number of what you average. -
Today, I was playing a local muni, a good one too. I went 2 over on the front 9 and felt pretty good. I went on a bogey streak and I was 6 over on the back. So, I was 8 over on a par 72. I really wanted to shoot in the 70s, so I told myself I could. I par a par 3 and a par 4. The final hole is a par 5 and I need a birdie. My drive almost goes out of bounds, but hit a tree and stays in. I drew a hybrid around a tree and left myself 20 yards right of the green on a dog leg left. I hit a flop/high chip which lands short. So, I needed to chip to in. I told my playing partners that I needed it and I told them I would hole it. I take out a gap wedge instead of my 58. I hit a pretty good chip and I nail in center hole and it drops. Easily my most clutch performance I have ever had. Funny thing is that I later found out it was actually a par 71 so I could have just gotten up and down. Either way I thought it was dire!

Yeah, I don't get why he doesn't get much media coverage.
-
Yeah, that's exactly what I'm looking for. What kind of relationship do you have with him? Sounds weird, but I just wanna know if they tend to be more like coaches then just simply instructors.
-
what channel?
-
Yeah, I'll do a little research and see what's local. My current instructor films me with his camera, but I think I could use a better tech video. For my full swing, I like tech stuff, so I'll definitely look into it. Do technical guys like your instructor help a lot with short game?

I can see the positives with having a consistent way to get distances. Its something you can rely on even if you aren't playing your best. I think you can combine these with feel. Cause you can think of the 75% but you can also just feel the "feel" of the 75% back swing. Good way to combine tech and feel. -

It may make you happy to know that I plan on getting a 54 degree wedge. I have a 58 right now. -

Your right, I should just go mego-wedge practice. I hardly practice them. Thanks mate! -
Your right, research can't hurt anyone.

So basically, I have had the same coach for about a year now. He's been helpful, yet I'm not sure if it has been as successful as I like to think. He lovs to emphasis the mental game and does a lot of lectures. He's helped my mental game, but I think I'm ready to move on. I'm sometimes not sure if his swing tips are really helpful. Like recently we worked on swing plane, but I feel like everything I learn he keeps me going back and forth between wrong and wrong (like going from a hook, then to a slice, then back again). He's not the most technical guy. Keep in mind I'm a teenager. Should I look for a more technical coach to help my swing, which often keeps me behind?

I love my 58. I used it today a bunch. I'm not sure the bounce, but I can hit every kind of shot with it. The 54 will be perfect because it will go 100 exactly. I will just have to learn to hit my pitching wedge close. Thanks guys. By the way, not sure about the bounce, but it works well in the sand. I recommend one.
