This is my first book review so I am not quite sure what people are looking for, but I will just put a few of my thoughts down from the book. The Book: “It’s All About Impact” Author: Andrew Rice Website: www.Itsallaboutimpact.com I have been very excited about this book coming out because the author, Andrew Rice has been my instructor for several years now. Honestly I didn’t know what to expect when I was sent the e-copy of the book this week, but I was shocked how well organized and thought out the book was. Quick Background Setup: Andrew Rice is from South Africa and his strong golf game brought him to the states for Collage. After school he found a passion for teaching and spent 7 years working with Ledbetter down at one of David’s schools in FL. He was brought up to Berkeley Hall in Bluffton, SC about 8 years ago to be the Head of Instruction at the Berkeley Hall Learning Center. His past and current students include many top amateurs, LPGA, Nationwide and PGA players. The book: In the book Andrew explains how the idea for the book came about. While at the Verizon Heritage on Hilton Head with one of the PGA players he coaches, Andrew has his Ah Ha moment watching several players practice. He noticed something about the sound of their shots, they all sound the same, no matter what the swing looks like. He concluded it must then be All About Impact. The book goes into detail about how he analyzed history top player’s swings and the shocking results. Andrew uses wonderful full body images of these plays at different positions to prove his findings. The book also is filled with great photography of Andrew demonstrating everything he talks about from the swing, to practice, the sand game, drills and much more. One note about the drills, they are very easy to understand and the photos make a huge difference. My favorite drill is call the Basketball Drill and it helps achieve the 84* secret angle at the top to improve impact. After Andrew fully conveys his unbelievable findings the book then goes into other factors that impact the game. Such as practice and his theory of how to practice, shot shaping, equipment (club •••••s be forewarned, the latest is NOT always the greatest) and much more. For those that are really into self swing analysis, there is an entire chapter devoted to this. Andrew goes through the how to, what equipment and even the common mistakes most people make when doing self swing analysis. One of the most helpful parts of the chapter are the great checks to remember when watching your own swing. They really keep you focused on what is import to promote the proper impact. In summary I feel this book gives me the understanding and the tools to no longer stress over perfect fundamentals, form and what I look like at the top of my swing. I am now just focusing on impact. But you don’t have to just take my word for it, there are some great endorsements of Andrew and his book by several of the worlds best including Nick Price, Ian Poulter, Ian Baker-Finch, Conrad Ray (Stanford head coach, NCAA coach of the year) and many more. You can check out more about the book and even get a FREE e-chapter at the book’s website www.itsallaboutimpact.com Please feel free to email Andrew with any questions at Andrew@andrewricegolf.com Thanks for taking the time to read and I would strongly encourage you to purchase this book. It will change your game for the better and for the long term!

Do you guys stretch a lot? I would be worried that if you work out your chest that much, it could close your chest and shoulder down.

Rife putters. Anyone using them?
Hackerpratt replied to Danattherock's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
as of today I am a +1 and I am using the rife. Futher more, a certain columbian golfer that I was no a boat with last week at the Heritage used a rife with a orange cameron grip towards the end of last years season. I don't think a certain putter is made for a HDCP type, what ever putter fits your putting style and helps you get it in the hole....look at Ben crensaw and his old blade. Yes, Odyssey is the #1 on tour....but PLEASE don't buy putters or equiptment because of this. Most people don't realize that those players get paid to have that in their bag. Like TaylorMade Drivers..a few years ago they wanted to win the driver count, so they paid players, any player no matter their contract $3,500 if they would have it in their bag on the first tee on Thursdays (when they do a club check) the other 3 rounds, who knows what they were playing. My point is, please find a putter, driver, whatever that feels good and fits YOUR game...not the best players in the world. -
Rife putters. Anyone using them?
Hackerpratt replied to Danattherock's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have played the IBF Aussie blade for a year now. I was fitted last April when the Tour was in town for the Heritage. I LOVE MY PUTTER! It is really need to see and feel the difference. It is also interesting that the Rife putters have a loft of 2 or 2.5 and most scottys have a loft of 4. Rife can get away with this as its role face technology gets the ball rolling, not skipping across the green. I would strongly suggest you finding a dealer and trying a few and see if they can fit you as well. good luck! -
I tried a few times a couple of years ago and it was a lot of fun. I was in a group with Tommy Two-Gloves one year before he "made it." I am going to give it another shot this year. At the very least it is great competition that gets you ready for lesser tournaments. Good luck!!!!

just a side note...they did have me move the ball forward in my stance about 2" and it caused a little pull effect. After a few swings they could see that I didn't have my hands far enough forward, so I moved those. For me now, when I set up for my driver I can look down and see the ball off my front foot and my hands block out the view of my left shoe. I am not saying this will work for everyone, as it would depend on your stance width, but I am hitting the ball pure and longer than I ever have.

Absolutely…did you read the article in Golf Mag a few months ago? I will try to find it and post it. But from personal experience I was getting fitted for a new shaft last week at the Ping van and they were showing me how when I tee the ball down to hit it low, it can create even more spin and cause the ball to balloon up. I adjusted my tee height by close to a ½ inch and it brought my launch angle from an avg of 8.4 to 12.2 I played in a tournament this weekend just with that change and noticed a huge difference in my drives. Good luck.

Adams Tech A4 being used on PGA Tour???
Hackerpratt replied to Hackerpratt's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
if you go to adams golf and look at the tech A4 driver page, there is a video with the clubmaker talking about it. Sorry for the delay in response, I lost my computer for 3 days...crazy hard drive crash. -
I live here in Hilton Head. You will have a lot of fun at those courses. I played Harbour Town last Wednesday, that is always a treat. Very hard course, but it is special to play. The par 3's are the best and the last 3 holes as you turn onto the water are awesome. the Fazio course at PD is a George Fazio design, it is pretty good, but rather tuff from the tips. Only down side is they don't have a big enough range for you to hit your driver. With you staying in sea pines, I would suggest hitting a few places there. the quarter deck is right next to the lighthouse and is a nice place to eat. the crazy crab is on the harbour and is very casual. If you are wanting a special meal and great wine list, go across the streat to CQ's. Let me know what types of places you want to eat or see and I can send you some good info.

I just broke my copper Ping Eye 2 irons (red dot) out of my closet this weekend to show a fellow golf nut. they brought back a lot of memories and they may be the best irons ever made. I soaked them in coke for about 30 minutes and they looked like a shinny new penny, then I put them back in the hall closet of fame. (i was tempted to go out and hit a few balls with them).

ON the Adams website, they boast about a pga player who wanted to play the Tech A4 9015 Driver and the company he had a contract with wouldn't allow him to. So he gave back the clubs, took the company's name off the bag and also off his hat. Then he goes on to win his first tour event, with no name on the hat or bag. Anyone know who this is? Also, do you know of any guys playing this that aren't on Adams staff? Thanks,

Old vs. New ProV1x
Hackerpratt replied to Hackerpratt's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Hey, i might be willing to cut that deal with you for 5 boxes. PM me and we can chat. Thanks, -
Ok, i am looking for some real data here. I listened to the podcast about the differences between the old and new ProV1x, but it sounded to me like the ball cover durability was really the bigest change. Has anyone seen any data concerning diferences in distance between the two balls? The reason I am asking is I have 9 boxes left of last years and I am golf nut who wants to make sure I am not missing out on 3 extra yards, ha ha. thanks for the feedback!

Swing Thoughts for Swaying
Hackerpratt replied to TheLauncher's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
These are all pretty good tips here. I guess i will add my 2 cents... when I was a jr golfer, my coach, Doug Weaver (was on PGA TOUR in 80's) use to put one of those big old driving range buckets between my legs (on the ground). If and when i swayed, my legs would rub it. This worked pretty well. the tip about a friend holding the butt end of the club agains your right temple, is a great drill, but be careful. I have found that some people can keep their head still and sway their hips (causing a reverse pivot). The best tip I can give you and to work on your lower body flexability and hip rotation. just google golf stretches or get on TPI's website and look for some tips. the more flexable you are, the easier it will be for you to keep that bent flex in the right knee, while rotating your hips and not swaying.
