  1. I have a FI-HI 18 deg and am very happy with it (even not the latest version). By coincidence bought it cheap from a friend in the club who could not hit it (older golfer, slow swing). Wanted to try it due to stiff graphite shaft, but this one suits me. Use(d) it as my driving "weapon" (until recently could not hit a driver with confidence) and was in front of many golfers with drivers after the shot and for sure you are on the short grass. If you need draw or straight - no problem at all - fade/slice -somehow very difficult to produce for me with this club. Considering my handi (higher than yours) you should have no problem with hitting it (even if you have an avg SS) so obviously you like it - give it a try, but try different shafts. My problem is - club is excellent from the tee or fairway and good lies but once you are in the longer grass (at least me) forget it. Hybrids other kinds (for instance Cobra mentioned in this thread) will produce much higher flight from the rough and slide through the rough better. That depend what kind of course you usually play on as well, what rough... Distance - you just have to test yourself but something 210 - 240 yards you should get; anyhow you know where you have a planned gap in your set and what distance you want/expect. Also what I can add I usually put quite a lot of spin on my shots, but not on this club - it rolls more even than the driver for me and I like it (and still goes quite a bit in the air). "Problem" with it is I can not hold it on the greens as Cobra's baffler (downside)... but I am not so good to attack greens from that distance anyway...hybrid will be easier to stop on green I believe. I have a small greens on most of the courses I play (and hilly terrain) so I do not use it for approach shots. If you need different approach and want to attack greens I would say go for 20deg loft or choose standard hybrid.
  2. Walfice, I tried it and think it is a great driver. Actually I can hit only this one (tried 10.5 deg reg graph. shaft; but would but 9.5 deg same shaft) and Ping's G10. I usually balloon the ball with the driver (that is why my old Cleveland stays at home and I use Mizuno FlyHi 2 ir 18 deg stiff instead) but had a decent ball flight with MX-700. Actually I am planning to buy one as soon as price go down in Europe. Beautiful sound and great shape which boost your confidence from the tee. Shallow face make you want to go off the deck if the ball sits properly as well... 3 wood and 5 wood excellent as well. Unfortunately did not try the hybrid. I would highly recommend you to try one. Also try G-10 (price should drop in US as well already) - excellent as well...
  3. tn2e, I think I am close to you and I had that dilemma recently. In short I tried many clubs, went through reasonable custom fitting and bought MX-25 at the end. Well I tried many irons and most of all like MP-52, AP-2 and MX-200. I had NO problem with ball flight or whatever with the mentioned ones. I do not think you will have either (ever less than me?). Where I want to point your focus is the shaft. Be aware that MX-25 stiff (my choice) produce higher flight than MX-200 standard shaft in reg. So basically if your usual ball flight is high go for MX-200 (if you are close to them) and if your ball flight is relatively lower one go for MX-25. There is not big difference between them in heads and with MX-25 you can save some $. Also if you need a standard club length clubs – buy MX-25 ; if not buy other because you will not find longer or shorter MX-25. Lie/loft are not a problem to adjust (a bit). Also I found 4 ir so easier to hit than my previous TA5 from Cleveland (where I kept same in the garage) that I am sorry I did not buy the 3 ir. This is one more point to show you that this kind of irons are Ok for you....
  4. Chrt, completely agree with you. Not many people like to share that... I am working on the same thing after not being able to hit the driver which magnified my swing problems. Irons and 5 w are good, 3 w were straight slice but driver was approx 45 m high and going right. Main thing for me was to understand connection of the right elbow and the right hip and proper transition at the top. WSG - Like marinemike wrote watch on rear shoulder (I would say during backswing and downswing...especially). Start the swing down with weight transition but at the same time allow your hands/right elbow to drop down (which will flatter your swing, put your right elbow and hip in a proper position and should keep your wrists in a proper cocked position as well). Now you can rotate your forearms; give with your right hand what you got (Hogan) and release your wrists DOWN. Just one important thing. Avoid in any case left hand chicken wing (or you might slice anyhow)...If so you have a good chance to naturally re-cock wrists on the other side… Not to be too long read this carefully (and all on this page for a long game) http://www.golftoday.co.uk/proshop/f...read_this.html . Gents, please let me know if I am "working on a proper things" in a proper way or??? Thanks for advices for all of us which are still searching for smoothness in our swings...
  5. I tried both as well. Not big difference I would say, both with great feeling (I like just a bit more AP-2 feel). Flights were different but that was due to different shafts I think (project X produced more penetrating flight than TTDG SL I tried). I almost bought the AP-2 but considering my handy just could not bare the fact to play with the same clubs as Adam Scott... I know of several more guys tried both clubs and preferred AP-2. But both are great clubs I would say. Distance -wise about the same, dispersion - for me a bit better were MP-52, but difficult to say. Unfortunately I tried only 6 ir, I think the way to go would be to try more clubs of the both sets on the real round and decide...
  6. First I want to say I am not a good putter as well and I am sure someone will be more competent to tell you a better advise, but reading your mail I can try to help with several things. If you want to know where exactly you hit the putter put some cream on it (do not worry insert will survive it)and you will see where you hit it precisely. Before that try to find out if the sweet spot of the putter is really at the marked position (guess you did that already, usually is OK). You are mentioning 2 deg of putter loft. Well I just know a bit of putter fitting and I am aware that there are many variables on proper putter fitting; but for the start (when you have the putting mat as well) I suggest that you put the digital camera behind you on the floor and hit some 10 putts. Then put the camera facing you e.g. perpendicular to the putting line. After analyze you will see if your stroke is jerky (as mine sometimes) or smooth. Next if you see it is a bit jerky for me that means if you have a proper -stacked stance that the putter is not hanging naturally below the arms and you should correct it. Ball position will vary a bit in relation to the type of putter you use. Be sure to use a proper stroke for the putter you use. Stroke should feel smooth and you should be able to hold your finish with ease (look the pros)….I will finish here hope that will help a bit. Well if you will find all marks at the center of the putter forget the mentioned camera and the rest... Also – hope you understood my bad english…(smiling allowed).
  7. I am in a 4 wedge club as well (PW-47; GW-52, SW-56 hb and LW-60 lb). You have to think of distance but a bounce selection is important as well (think where do you play most - and is it mostly soft, hard , type of sand in the bunkers...). GW is great for those 100 yards shots - gives you the confidence over the trouble (especially water) and I like it a lot. Lob wedge could be very tricky club - and could lead to some disappointments but if you hit it well could be the opposite as well. So I would suggest LW goes first out (you do not need it so much), but you need 3 mentioned...
  8. TyCobb, interesting, can you write which shaft you were testing with the club please? I had same swing speed on fitting but somehow I hit them 55 yards shorter... (a bit short for me) - but it was 3deg C outside and I had a wind blowing (a bit) towards me... I was hitting TT Dynamic Gold SL Reg, and I am thinking now to order them with a TT DG High Launch or even Nippon N.S.Pro 950 GH stiff? I might not be hitting sweet spot deadly, but I was close (balls went straight, and I have almost same trajectory with MX-200..).
  9. I can not say I tried a lot of blades but in relation to Miz’s MP-57, MP-60 and MP-52 I would put them as forgiving as MP-52. So they are quite forgiving clubs. I looked on this forum and found that some other members also grade them close to MP-52’s. I tried them with Project X Reg shaft and they gave me very nice and more penetrating flight than Miz’s with TT Dynamic Gold SL Reg I tried. Or it is due to proper tungsten weight placement ? I just love that (still use my ancient Cobra baffler due to big tungsten insert there – also get great penetrating flight with it in spite of other shaft in this club). Feel from the AP-2 face is excellent (as Miz’s I would say). Same day I tried TM r7 TP and feel was not close to that (at least to me) – flight was great as well, have to say. So if I (with my handi.) can hit them you will have no probs at all. Only concern to me could be a grooves (V-grooves – flyers?).. I will go for Miz’s (not brave enough to play same club as Adam Scott). One more good thing about Titleist (web site)– you have more data about shaft options than on some other places (even on some shaft producer web sites...).
  10. 1dayIllBaPro great post, thanks. I read one book from Bob Rotela where he wrote that great Jack N. told him "I have never miss a putt....in my mind". So I think you are doing a great thing ... and I am just heading there (long way to go...).
  11. Just like jambalaya said it could be many reasons - for example not a proper weight shift and ball position... try to hit the ball with putting feet together. This should help you to stay leveled and because not much weight shift in a swing like that should help with the better contact...; do not use full swing, just half (or a bit more later).
  12. I did the same test as PiKapp23, interesting, same result (well I compared MP-60, MP-57, MP-52, MX-200 and MX-25)- MP-57 had lowest flight (even than MP-60 for some reason?) but that is I guess due to my relatively slower swing speed 82 to 85 mph... If money is an issue and you do not need special adjustments in club length I think MX-25 could be the winner as well (lie change should not be a problem). I truly like MX-25 with TT DG SL Stiff shaft - but I need a longer clubs and will go to other Miz's clubs. You can find them on e-bay really cheap now...
  13. Pikapp23 - I agree with you, I actually wanted to write 4, 5 irons in MX-200 and the rest MP-52. Was thinking of going 4,5 and 6 MX-200 – but during custom fit I did not see much difference from hitting 6 ir of MP-52 or MX-200. So far I have only one hybrid (Cobra baffler 22 deg) I started to use recently (was thrown in garage for last 5 years after buying it and testing twice on the range)…and this is now main club from the tee/lay up for me (can not hit my driver with confidence –out of my bag)… But reading BG Pro post might go and order 4, 5 and 6 MX-200. From 7ir down MP-52 looks much better to me and there is not much difference in hitting than MX-200. Also I am thinking of buying MX FLI-HI 3 (20 deg) – tested it, great ball flight, easy to hit and can be adjusted same as iron set. I agree with Today’s Golfer (they say that it is a pity there is no MX FLI-HI 2). Coming back to Paradigm question – I have to say that new TM r7 TP look great, ball flight was OK (kind of hanging up in the air a bit longer than Miz’s, same as AP-2 - I guess that is because I got a bit flatter path’s with them and higher ball flight with Miz’s)… if you go for them I believe they will last longer than forged clubs and look better after 5 years or so (if this is your concern)… I will go with Miz’s (just like them better).
  14. Hello everyone, that is my first post here (be gentle). Thanks for sharing your experience, I learned many things here... I am very similar to you Paradigm (irons stronger part of my game, close handicap) and about purchasing a new set. Recently tried AP-2, r7 TP (new ones) and went through Mizuno fitting Centre (tested MX-200 , MP-52). Basically I hit all about the same (distance and height) but feel was far better with forged clubs (hope that was not im my head!). Fitter recommened MP-52 (so you/our handicap player should be good enough for those clubs). But what I am thinking of (and you could as well) is idea to get 3, 4 irons MX-200 and the rest from MP-52. I have to say I liked the AP-2 but am afraid I am not good enough for them... MX-200 are excellent clubs as well, I just prefer the look of MP-52... which I told to the fitter. Anyhow to decide properly about the shaft - do the proper fitting and you will see your own feel/confidence level with clubs you mentioned.
  15. I'm Petroleum Eng. Unfortunately, spend only half a year at home and do not play as much as i would like - so it is difficult to improve properly... I am new here - so hello to everyone. Thanks for many good posts I already read here, hope to learn more.
