  1. Hey guys and gals! My name is Bryce. I'm a collegiate golfer and excited for the upcoming season! I will be playing in school tournaments and amateur tournaments hopefully every weekend throughout the entire 2009 season. This thread will be updated every time i play, and hopefully when i do well it will get pretty exciting. I have enjoyed my boy ben's minitour thread where he does much of the same thing. So if you're interested subscribe! On Friday i will play in a nice little 1 day amateur. The Shneiter Bluffs Am. Fairly easy course and the weather is suppose to be pretty nice. A perfect little tournament to open the 09 season. Wish me Luck! Ill check back in after Friday! Thanks guys!
  2. Planning and expecting are two completely different things. a 10 footer, i always PLAN to make it... but I surely don't EXPECT to make every 10 footer...
  3. Thanks for the information. Utah golf has its pros and cons and one of these is definitely the lack of a mini-tour. the closet thing we have is Player Performance Rating Tournaments, there are about 7 through the season. Oh well, i make pretty good change crediting out on amateur events and then throwing stuff on eBay. Thanks again and good luck.
  4. I saw another member post a video and enjoyed it. Its just interesting to hear such a diverse analysis.
  5. I choose to usually hit a fade. However i can usually work the ball right to left if i need to. I had an incredible admiration for Tiger's game and sometimes i admire him a little tooo much. thanks for the reality check :)
  6. This has been one of my coach's and i main points of emphasis. Unknowingly i had a ton of tension throughout my upper body specifically in my hands. Although still not great my tempo has improved. I've found i make significantly better contact and have more controllable ball flight. thanks for the tip.
  7. Thank you for all of your replys! I've enjoyed all of your coments. Sorry i havent posted as ive been in Hawaii (golfing every day!) and havent had the time to post. Since i originally posted the video I've made a lot of changes and have been playing the best golf of my life. I'd also say my swing looks fundamentally the best it ever has. I will have one last video session with my coach and hopefully snag a copy of my swing broke down with software and try to get it on here. Thank you again for the comments! stay tuned!
  8. Ive learned that i score the lowest when i play without any expectations throughout the entirety of my game. Ive found i focus harder and deeper when Im not worrying about how i should play, that only leads to disapointment and frustration. For this reason i don't think about what i expect to make. If you approach a six-footer and think to yourself "i should make this" you're thinking about the wrong things. What i DO EXPECT is to go through my putting routine with pure focus and concentration, pick a line and speed, and make a good stroke, sometime they all go in. sometimes they don't.
  9. Played Kapalua in Maui last week, pretty amazing. Also, i private club in Durango, Colorado named Glacier Club really surprised me. Probably the most well maintained course Ive ever played.
  10. Ben! nice thread my man. Im interested in all this mini tour talk and have some questions. Being a collegiate golfer I'm sure I coudnt play in anything like this as of now, but still am curious. What is the usual pay-out? Entry fee? Field Size? and score that wins? How to qualify? I thank you for your answers in advance and good luck.
  11. in the winter i used a camera everyday, and made several adjustments. now that its time to play again (YESSSSS!!!!!!) ill put the camera away and just go score. I used just a typical digital camera and it worked fine.
  12. he puts like a middle schooler...
  13. I like Olgivy. beside his almost perfect ball striking i think THIS year, he his the most sound mentally. he also plays well on fast greens. he looks tough to beat for the masters.
  14. Any other color than black or brown look terrible. im with you.
  15. belly putters never win majors. ive got woods, villegas, or olgivey
  16. I have been a swayer my entire life. I have worked hard to have little sway now but i naturally have a tendicy to do so, which is fine. many pros have a little sway. Here are a few tips that have really helped me. First and formost keep your head as still as possible and in the same position. You may even think your head is still but actualy moving quiet a bit. this is crucial. Also at address (for a righty, and for longer clubs) still being balanced, set your 60% or your weight on your big toe of your right foot with your knee engaged. If you keep your weight there throughout your turn and into your release you should be good. You right knee cap should barley drift with your turn and back swing. these are the two things i try to focus on. hope they help.
  17. Its interesting your pro you said that. Ive often heard pros make the point that with a higher lofted club high handicappers can swing longer and harder producing better and more consistent short game shots. I know some pros even do this. I think bubba watson plays a 60* bent to a 64* so he can hit short shots at higher swing speeds.
  18. Ive tried range finders, Golf Logix, UPRO, and SkyCaddie. SkyCaddie is the best in my opinion. Its the most convenient and accurate. I think it also has the best customer service and product reliability. range finders are often inaccurate, logix was a terrible product, and UPRO has to many bugs. I would go SkyCaddie, specifically the SG5. you won't be disappointed.
  19. Thanks for the help! so far we've booked times for the plantation course at kapalua and at Ko olau, I think we'll book 1 or two more. not sure where though. im gettin excited!!
  20. Thanks for the comment i see what you're saying and no offense to all that have posted but any changes i make are going to be from my feel and knowledge of what i want my swing to do, i just wanted to hear peoples thoughts, can't hurt. I have enjoyed other peoples video posts, thats just a big part of why i put it up as any. I just had a lesson with my school's coach this morning, i will post another video in a short while to show my progress.
  21. I have had a hard time with my grip, initially that was the first thing i changed this winter. I started playing with a very neutral grip but found it took the club out of my fingers. I had a pro tell me to switch back. I personally would like to have a more neutral grip but can't seem to keep it in my fingers when i do that. I am too far away from the ball i will work on that next time. I will worry about keeping my head still after my turn and length look like TW :8
  22. Ive been playing since i just a kid, competitively for about 5 years. My handicap is 0?? My lowest round is a 66 Ive been practicing everyday, only on the range because of snow, i usually spend half my time on wedges, and the rest on driveer to 8 iron. I have had several golf lessons, however i do not have a personal coach. I can work the ball fairly well as far as playing a fade or draw. I usually play a slight fade. However, i especially have a hard time controlling trajectory. My ball flight is very high. the strongest part of my game is distance and putting.
  23. Heres my Swing, I'm trying to make some adjustments this winter. So far i have really changed my grip which has been a lot of work. I have trouble with length in my swing and really turning my shoulders. I need to work on my flexibility. I want to look like Tiger or Adam Scott. If you guys and gals have any advice please let me know!
  24. I just bought some paint online to work on my Cameron at home. Do you have any suggestion for buffing/working out some dings?
  25. Thanks for your great answer. I will look into sending my cameron in. I know the restoration process is worth the money i just hate how long it takes them. Thats so longggg without my baby! haha, for that reason alone i might not do it. maybe next winter.
