  1. Pro V1 or B330-RXs
  2. I use blue mesh Mizuno covers that are sold in Japan (you can find them online). They don't trap moisture for very long, and they slip on and off without any issues. For those of you that "hate" covers, no need to be militant about it, just don't use them! I keep my clubs in my car often, and the covers keep the clubs from banging together. In addition, the covers match my blue and white Mizuno bag, and they look fantastic. To each his own, but I wont buy another set of irons without covers.
  3. I recently upgraded my wedges to CG15's, and I couldn't be happier with them. I don't think you'll see a price drop in the very near future, so if you need new wedges, I would suggest just going for the CG15's right now, they really feel solid and crisp on every type of shot.
  4. This happens to me on a fairly regular basis. I'm getting better at adjusting to the changes on a daily basis, but don't be too hard on yourself, because sometimes there isn't much you can do. I think it comes down to tempo, sometimes the tempo is just off, and it isn't always something we can feel.
  5. My home course is semi-private, and has the option of a monthly cart plan for $74/mo or a feet of $16 per cart rental. Needless to say, I pay the $74/mo, and use the cart even if I'm playing a quick 5 holes after work.
  6. Aren't golf clubs made to strike a golf ball and not a boulder or a tree? Am I missing something?
  7. Maybe this guy has had a couple of outstanding rounds, but his average is in the high 80s? The higher scores would pretty much cancel out the one or two mid 70's rounds.
  8. I'm not sure, because I've never had this problem. However, I am 6'2", and when I was fitted for my irons I was told that the standard length & lie (Mizuno MX-200) were perfect for me. I would recommend spending some time on the range with a longer iron, and find out if you get better more consistent results.
  9. I play from the tips unless I'm paired with someone that wants to play from the white. Sometimes I'll change it up a little to work on my course management, and give myself a different perspective on the course (I play my home course almost exclusively).
  10. Why do you have a 4-hybrid and a 4-iron? Do you hit your 4-iron well? If so, I would recommend using your 4-iron, tossing the 4-hybrid and getting a 3-hybrid.
  11. I have the same problem, I end up replacing my glove about once per month. I do practice or play for about 30+ hours per week, so that might have something to do with it, and I hate playing with old, dirty, and stretched gloves. My two favorites are the FJ Stasoft, and the TM Targa Tour.
  12. Don't let anyone push any clubs on you. Hit as many as you can, and at some point you'll hit a set of irons that you really love. By the way, how did you like the burners?
  13. I play the MX-200's, and they were chosen after demoing several other clubs. I had a hard time choosing between the Titleist AP1's or the MX-200's, but I'm confident I made the right decision. As far as these clubs being too difficult, this is my first set of irons. I started playing for the first time this February, and I wanted a set of irons that I could grow into. These irons are probably the best mix of forgiveness and feedback on the market.
  14. +1 for the Bridgestone e6+ I've played most if not all of the widely available balls on the market, and for my game, the e6+ is by far the best.
  15. That's really one of the biggest issues with all but the best amateur golfers, consistency . Good job on the 93, just think about all of the good shots you made, and how the ability to shoot much lower is there based on your intermittent good golf shots.
  16. Sorry, I understand where you're coming from now, I should have made myself a little more clear in my original post. While I do post between 3-5 rounds per week, there's no way I can drop my handicap by 1-2 strokes per week at this point. I was referring to my average score based on 3-5 rounds per week, specifically my "best" round of the week is on average 1-2 strokes better than my best round for the previous week. As an example, in the past 45 days, I went from 15.5 to 13.0 handicap. I think you'll agree that this is a lot more realistic than what you originally thought I said. Anyway, the whole point behind me even saying any of this, is that you can indeed cut your handicap in half (let's say go from high handicap to mid handicap, using my situation as an example) with a lot of *meaningful* practice, lessons, and time spent out on the course. No need for a "genie", or sacrificing any improvement for the next 10 years.
  17. I am married, but my wife is starting to become less accommodating than when I first started(I could use a genie to help fix this). I don't have any other real interests, I play or practice during my free time, even if this means grooving my putting stroke for 30 minutes before bed. Obviously it's getting harder and harder to improve, gone are the days where I could drop 10 strokes off my average score in one week, so I don't expect I'll be Tiger, I'm just happy going out and having confidence in my swing. I'm not sure why you assume I don't count my strokes properly-- Why not assume that I've put a lot of time, effort, and money into improving my ability, and it's actually working.
  18. No chance. I started playing in February of this year, and I started taking lessons for about two months before ever stepping foot on a course (I shot a 160 my first round!) Since starting earlier this year, I've brought my score down to the low 80s for a good round, and low 90s for a bad round. My handicap just went down to 13. I play or practice about 30 hours a week, and I drop an average of 1-2 strokes per week now. The truth is, if you really want to improve your handicap, you don't need a genie! You just have to put in the time and effort. I have a full time job, and commute several hours per day, but I still manage to get out and practice, that's really the key to playing well.
  19. DT Carry is what you want. With only 252 (very large) dimples, it really grabs the air. I love the way the Pro V1 plays around and on the greens, but the DT Carry is my favorite ball off the tee, awesome trajectory, and only $20/doz.
  20. I have the same problem. I can hit my driver a consistent 275+ yards off the tee, either straight, or with a slight draw, but when I'm 100 in I seem to hit fat shots all the time. My chipping and putting is consistently good, but getting to the green from my tee shot is the problem.
  21. 2.2 million NZD is almost 1.2 million USD, which I'm sure is much less than the cost of R&D; from most big name manufacturers these days.
  22. Since I'm just beginning, my 2009 goals are: 1. Find a good instructor, and develop a good swing. 2. Stick to it through the tough times, and aggravation.

22, and I've been playing for about one day, but I've been contemplating whether or not to go down this slippery slope for several years. Once I finally made the decision, it didn't take long for it to take over, here I am browsing a golf forum at 1:30 AM!
  24. I'm in Fredericksburg, VA. I'm brand new to the game, and looking for an instructor. Do you know of any good golf instructors in the area? I'm willing to travel.
  25. I work for the U.S. Department of State.
