  1. First off, let me just say, that the Sandtrap forum, is the best 19the hole in golf. Where else can you get golf advice, rant about something, or debate golf with the entire world. Sponsors and advertisers be advised: Sandtrap readers spend money on golf despite the downturn in the economy. I myself have spent well over 2K on golf this year. Just to clear it up my post: I was disagreeing with the whole Tiger is done notion. I was disagreeing with the idea that the injury is career ending. He will get the required medical attention, physical therapy... etc, then come back and win majors.
  2. Disagree. Remember he played and won with the injury. He pulled off the must have shots. I remember the announcer saying: "Tiger needs to hit the fairway in order to ...." and "Tiger's gotta land it left of that ...." and in all cases he did it. Pulled off the magic- from the rough, from the cartpath or from the sand. Also, a lot of people get sick or hurt and comeback to what they were doing before and become more successful. As they say in nyc, forgettaboutit. Tiger's gonna win when he comes back as sure as the price of gas is going to hit 5 bucks!
  3. Rocco's performance at the open, in my opinion was a class act. He has me as a new fan. In a way, I think it was better that Rocco came in 2nd (I'm sure he would disagree), because if he had won, the story would be that Tiger somehow lost it. Lost focus etc. Also, the addition of Tiger's injury would have lessened the Rocco victory. The NY press would probably have vilified Rocco; paint him to be an eccentric lapel collecting lucky Sunday golfer. Great US open, and I'm glad I taped it. Excellent and classy play from both. It was almost like a movie. Hopefully someone will produce a dvd of The Open.
  4. It was horrible. Not only that it started late in the day. I switched over to espn lpga coverage, a little less commercials, and I recorded it. Either way, they got me over a barrel, because I only have basic cable.
  5. Was thinking of ditching the golf logo baseball cap for a better hat that better protects against the sun, along with sunblock and shades. Anyone out there with a tilley hat? Am concerned because of the golf digest article on golfers skin cancer, ya know?
  6. Was playing the other day at a local muni, and I was amazed, at the pair of eagles I saw on the course. The wing span was soo wide, it seemed to dwarf a Humvee. I've seen some red winged black birds also, and i'm sure I heard an owl go whoooo whoooo whooo. anyway just thought I'd share. Back to golf: who is better: tiger or phil.
  7. Why not try it. Practice, get lessons, practice. your young, your flexable, and what do you have to loose? If you go to college, you can hook up with the team, then who knows? Better to try and fail then to ask: what if? Plus as Gilmore Happy said: "...if even if I'm last place, I win some money...".
  8. Sorry to here that. tell the manager-they may be able to comp you. Reconsider leaving your clubs there. Imagine if your expensive iron set or driver was stolen. In nyc theft is the norm. My clubs don't leave my sight. if someone tries to grabem then i'll be the top story on the news.
  9. Good news, I'm breaking 100 consistently. The bad news, is when I'm on a hook lie or a slice lie (aka- uneven lie), my shot is not good. Sometimes i get lucky, sometimes not. Anyone know a good practice setup for uneven lies? Someone told me if you use the range mat, and put a 2x4 underneath, the lie would be uneven thus emulating the fairway. Opinions on this? thanks in advance.
  10. shot 98 today at dunwoodie golf course in westchester. Felt good, considering i broke 100 for the first time.
  11. Walking is good for you. Average courses your are looking at 2 mile hike. Good cross trainer shoes are absolutely needed. I wish new balance would come out with 991/992 golf sneakers. I do use the golf cart when I am playing with my boss- because well golf with the boss is about bidniz.
  12. CONGRATS!!!!. save the ball, and display it. Theses are rare indeed.
  13. Dude, get the driver. Right now, at your age, you should be playing bombs away, gouge it out. 150's good price for a r7. Plus , you know you want it.
  14. Gas and everything is too high for now, since my wages aren't keeping up with inflation. However, I am going to play this weekend, just locally, with a simple barbeque and music. after sunday church service. NYC has expensive everything: bridges ($5.00) one way, tolls, gas ($4.35ish). Its not that I'm cheap, just being frugal. I'll break out the honda civic hybrid this weekend.
  15. I'm going to look at galvin green and foot joy. Thanks for everyones advice. cheers!
  16. Nothing wrong with AMD- they are black box reverse engineered. I ran a three state server farm with one for years. Try re-seating your memory cards. also check/replace the cmos battery. finally, look at your power supply. These things go bad frequently; especially if you have a dirty electric power. You can probably swap it out. good luck.
  17. Which one did you go with? I know your post was back in febuary, but I did a search for raingear, and found your post. CHeers!
  18. Most golfers, hang on to their golfset longer then they stay married, so take your time. GolfDetective, since you are in the yonkers/nyc araea, you migiht want to try The World Of Golf, down in nyc. The have a nice launch monitor setup, and they give you a break on the price. Golfsmitth is nice but they dont give any breaks. ALso, golfsmith promotionals, always exclude callaway, nike, titelst taylor made. You should get fitted for lie angle. It take a little longer to get the clubs (5 day), but it is well worth it.

  20. Diagnose a computer problem by looking at what changed. Did you ad anything new? Regarding the restart, is it a hard restart where the computer goes black, then you see the manufacture logo on the screen in monochrome, or is it a windows restart. Either way, if you didn't add any thing new- then you probably had some software add itself, surreptitiously. To see what is running, try downloading spybot (do a google on it), then run it. Finally, look at your proceses. My current box has only 19 processes. You can see what your computer is doing by going to Start->Run->taskmgr.exe Good luck.
  21. It's too early yet. Tiger has shattered the notion of golf being all an exclusive club. This is going to touch the children of today. Twenty years from now, the game will be more representative of society- a glorious mosaic. I see it now at the muni's, and the clubs in Westchester NY.
  22. . Thank you FourPutt , because of your information/rule advice, I am happy to announce, but a little embarrassed to say that instead of shooting a 109, I shot a 107. (edging closer to 100, closer, closer...) .
  23. just this weekend,I found and returned a pinseeker p-wedge to its owner. The owner, of course didn't even know he lost it. They ought to invent some sort of Radio Freq Device for golf clubs, so if you get more that 20 yards from it, it beeps.
  24. I don't know about me, but I know my son can beat tiger at TIGER WOODS PGA 07 for xbox. THe kid drives the ball 700 yards!
  25. Don't have any advice for you because my slice is thicker than a slice of pizza from "ORIGINAL FAMOUS RAY'S PIZZA". The one with the box that reads "YOU'VE TRIED THE REST NOW TRY THE BEST". . HOWEVER, I would venture to say that I'm leaving the driver, the 3 wood and 4 and 5 iron home this next outing. My score should get better (cross fingers).
