Well, I hope the surgery went well. And I hope your recovery is quick enought to heel to new. There is a otc drug on the market called glucosamine. You might want to pick up a bottle at the drug store, after checking with your Dr. Glucosamine is supposed to help rebuild soft bone material like the knee joint. Comsumer reports did a study on it about 2 years back, and since they are not connected with any corp, you might want to consider their best buy. As far as going crazy from lack of golf. Try TW pga 2007. You can post your TW 2007 handicap here, and amaze people. Good luck. We are praying/hoping for you.

LPGA coverage: Golf or Side Boob Tour
InTheTwenties replied to InTheTwenties's topic in The Grill Room
Opps... My original post may be out of bounds. Let me try a provisional post: I tried to remove the post, but it is too old (?). And It goes to show, we are all Americans, not matter what the local level of decency standards are. Clearly my standards are at the knuckle dragging level. If I offended, my appologies. . -
I was wondering how to get him. This is the perfect idea. I was tricked last year when my buddy "helped me find my ball in the wooded rough. I was so concerend about penalty that I celebrated finding my ball with a mighty wack. Yup. I was had.

I've been looking at a few and I've also considered skycaddie. But I heard that they are making a skycaddie version that will track your shots (to help zero in on club selection), and to keep your scores and track your handicapp. It shouldn't be that hard to create that version. A few lines of code, some memory... When they start selling that one I will be getting one. For now, I'll use yardarge markers. .

The big story line is that there is no big story line. The anticipated showdown of the century Phil versus Tiger didn't materialez. About the only story is that the winner played a charmed round. He clearly has faith, and it worked. Especially when Tigers' shot on the 17th (?) went into the water, because of a magical gust of wind, taking him out of contention. Or when Tiger's Tee off was interupted by a bird flying over his ball. No doubt the winner played a fine round, and deserves the green jacket, but a little help from above never hurt. PS. I think I'll light a candle before my next round.

Anyone know where to get those prank golf balls that explode into a cloud of dust when struck? I'm playing against a real prankster who got me last season when he replaced my ball in the rough with those golf balls that don't roll straight. And Its time I repay the favor!

Marijuana, stupidity and the range
InTheTwenties replied to InTheTwenties's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
I though about telling the range staff, but the thugs where numerous. I would have been able to take on 1 or two, if they retaliated for informing the range staff, but not 8 thugs. And they may have been armed with a knife or a gun. Me? I would have been armed with my4 iron. As far as having them arrested, in New York State the revolving door of justice is well lubricated. The other day I was reading in the paper about a repeat offender that shot someone in the ankle. The repeat offender served 2 months. The guy that got shot? Probably will have pain for life. Thats golf in the big apple! -
At the risk of sounding like a prude, let me just say that I'm rired of urban kids creating a bad atmosphere for golf. I was at the range the other day in Elmsford NY when all of a sudden a 20ish punk runs in front of all the tee boxes, and almost got beaned by me and a bunch of other golfers. It looks like they where daring each other to do it or something. These punks where further carrying on and making a lot of noise. Thankfully, I was about down to 15 balls in the bucket, and was wrapping it up. Most of the people there are serious about golf and were trying to concentrate. A few families were there trying to teach their kids, and there was a lesson going on in the reserved tee. A little bit later I got a wiff of marijuana that these dummies were smoking. Now I've smoked marijuana in the past and on occasion I partake of the toke, but not on the golf range in front of kids. I think someone called the police on these hoodlums because later the police showed up. Either way I wish I had beaned the punk who ran in front of my slot even if I probably would have been sued for unlawfully discharging my 3 iron causing pain and a sufferin. Sorry I had to vent. Thanks for listening.

If you live in the big city, how do you stay sharp?
InTheTwenties replied to jorgesgolf's topic in Golf Talk
You can go to your local soccer field and try a morning routine. When I don't feel like going to the range, I go to the local park and pitch and chipp and lob. Its just like hitting from the rough. Funny thing you never know what you are going to find. I once last year was practicing in a city park, again chipping/ pitching when I was collecting the balls, I saw a hypodermic needle in the grass next to the ball. I left that ball. -
Gosh, I wish I paid more attention in high school geometry class. It seems though that I was mostly in HIGH Times school Anyway, i'm getting fit for clubs and don't know what they mean when you are 2 degree upright, or 1 degree flat. Or 50 pounds overweight. If I am 1 degree upright, does this mean that the heel (the hosel part) is lifted off the ground? and that by ordering clubs 1 degree upright means it will correct this by lowering the heel? Or vice versa? Any help would be appreciated

I have been looking to get new irons. I'm looking for an iron set that has forgiving weight distribution, and a low center of gravity, but with little or no offset. Every club I look at, though has a high offset: X-18, ping i5, nike slingshot. As a test I have a used Tommy Armour 845 silver back #1iron that I hit reasonably well when I control my swing speed and hit the sweet spot. I like the no offset look, but don't have a clue which iron set because of a confusing iron market. My wedges have only a very small amount of offset, and I hit these good. (cleveland 588 gunmetal sand and lob) Any one have any recomendations on forgiving clubs with no offset? What is offset for anyway? thanks in advance and hit'em long and straight

You can try The World Of Golf. They are in nyc and have a new fitting room with some high tech gizmos. Its 150 bucks, but if you use their fitting for callaway equipment, you get 75 bucks off the gear. I might try it after i get my tax refund. Looking to get either big bertha 06 irons, or the x-18, or x20. As an added bonus, i found them to have better prices and way more selection than golfsmith. The link to the center is http://www.theworldofgolf.com/callaw...ancecenter.asp good luck. and let us know what you found.

That must suck. And whats worse is the airline . If you are a frequent traveler with the airline, you might be able to get some satisfaction via a letter.

Update: Today I tried a practice 9hole. I did not use the driver. It was 5wood, 7iron, 9iron, pitch and lob. No other clubs. Total fairways: 4. And I had a GIR! Definetly an improvement. Also, I drove the 5 wood once for about 250 yards. This weekend, If I can, I'll play a round, and keep score, to see if there is any actual drop in handicap .

Tried to get fitted for irons today
InTheTwenties replied to Finn07's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I don't know if it's that same store or not, but I went to a golf store on central ave in westchester ny once, when I was going to get fitted for irons. The guy just tapped up the sticks, and said hit it. Walked away. Returned after ringing up sales for this busy store, then looked at the computer screen and said: "Well, I think we have a winner". What should one expect from a fitting? Should they measure your arm length, and height? Should they look at your swing? Swing Speed. Or is the quality of the fitting equal to the price: free fitting with purchase? Anyone on the forum everhad a good fitting experience? What should a person expect? -
I'm going to try no #1Driver this weekend. It worked for Tiger, it should work for me. I seem to be sucking at driver # 1 lately anyway. My drive goes about 210 yards, nice distance (?), but it sometimes gets lost left or right. As a matter of fact,I looked at my stats, it's my driver going out of bounds that keeps my handicap in the twenties (hence my screen name). I'm going to try it. I'm going to leave my driver at home, 4 miles from the course, so that I can resist the temptation. I'll tee the 5 wood, which I hit pretty good: 150-200 stright down the middle. Use the 7i the 9i to get on the green on par 5's, or else I'll wedge it onto the green on par 4's. Your thoughts on No #1 driver? This should get my handicap down to in the teens. Should increase GIR. The only problem is I would have to change my screen name from "InTheTwenties" to "InTheTeens". I'm sure the moderators would be pissed. "

Gosh, I hope its just some muscle injury, but if it is more serious, I'll be hoping for your speedy recovery. I have back pain, from lifting heavy shit. It aint bad, I live with it. But whenever I play, whenever I practice, whenever I go to the range, I stretch out for about 20 minutes. BTW: you can try slow dry swings for practice at home. Also, have your wife pick you up a putting practice thingy. This way, you can still get some practice. If all else fails, get Tiger Wioods 2006 for xbox360, and drive the ball 400 yards. Seriously, I'll be hoping for your speedy get well.

I have no experience in this area, since I'm not a pro. I took some sports managment course at college, but that doesn't qualify me to answer. That being said, I think caddies are extremly helpfull, because the rule book states no outside agency can help a golfer. Caddies are someone the golfer can speak to, and look to when something goes wrong. AKA: Tin Cup cafe, when the caddie asked the pro to do some weird things in order to get ride of the shanks. So I'm going to forward my "truck driving resume" to Michelle Wie. After all, truck driving and golf are almost the same thing: They both require excellent driving.

I used to just hit it, but then I read petlz putting book, as well as some posts here, so I balance it and draw a line. I feel like I putt better, and its definetly closer to the whole. Even Tiger Woods uses a line.

I'd be happy to get HIO, but I'll be even happier to win the lottery. The family on the link below, won the lotter twice. The Odds? 1 in 24 trillion. of 1 in 24,000,000,000,000. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...2/MN159178.DTL

The thing is he talked up a good game, and was good for a couple of holes. I think maybe its because we walked the course. You see I always walk it, because the carts are too expensive for me, but he always rides the cart. Also I misread his competitive spirit. Either way, he sudgested a "practice round" before playing his boss in a foursome, so here is where, it evens out for him. I'm sure I'll be topping/fouling/four putting.

Well, here we go, I'll probably also be fired, and hang out with Michelle Wie's caddie at the unemployment office. I played my boss yesterday, and won. At first he started out good, but then started to really miss shots. He would top it, he would foul it, he would shank it. And At first he was in good spirits, but after he started to loose holes back to back, he became more foul to play with. I considered loosing on purpose, and did purposely lose someholes, but I won the match. To make maters worse, I'll be playing with him against his boss, next week in a foursome. Not sure how to proceed. Here we go unemployment... Anybody need a good truck driver?

Well Congrats! I hope she is a golfer also. If not, remember: Resitance is futile. She will be assimilated. Seriously, congrats and thanks for sharing your good news with us.

Great pre-round range hitting, terrible round
InTheTwenties replied to iammike's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Does anyone know if the hight of the rubber tee thing on the range versus the hight of the tee on the course, could produce such a difference? Because I've also had this problem. Is your range, a grass range, or the green plastic mat with the plastic tee thing?
