  1. Watch Zac Johnson in his next tournament! He does exactly what you describe and he got himself a nice jacket a couple of years ago!
  2. My name is Jenks and I am a PLUMB-BOBBER! There i've finnally admitted it, and it feels good. Plumb-bobbing for me is just a way of removing doubt on very subtle breaking putts, usually ones that I can't see any break in at all, and allowing me to step up and hit the ball at my target with CONFIDENCE. I don't believe it's going to tell me the exact amount of break but it gives me an idea if there is SOME break or NO break. Also, don't try to plumb-bob with any thing with any sort of; heel-toe weighting, high MOI design, mallet putter as it just won't work! You need a bullseye (no flange) or a very simple 8802 style putter where the toe hangs straight down when you carry it, these putters will hang vertically from your fingers and can be useful.
  3. KGZ make something that is super soft feeling (TRS) but maybe not the highest spin, Scratch wedges are great for a bit of buzz, Vokeys obviously but every ones got em' so wheres the fun (LOL) and the Mizunos, Taylor Mades, Clevelands and Callaways are all excellent too. Wedges are really much of a muchness it's what YOU prefer and can do with them individually thats the deal breaker, i.e. can you hit that low one bounce and stopper AND the lob over a bunker from a tight lie AND a three quarter wedge to a tight pin with it. Go hit em' all and enjoy finding out!
  4. Depends on what you mean by straight?! If you mean that time when you absolutely have to hit the fairway and distance isn't really a factor, I tend to go an inch down the shaft shorten my swing a touch and try to keep my leg action really quiet! If you mean just generally hitting DEAD STRAIGHT shots then thats really down to your grip, alignment and swing plane, real fundamental things along with athletic ability! Not too many around that can do it consistently and the best players tend to be the ones that don't try! Ask Tiger or Jack Nicklaus the last time they tried to hit a perfectly straight shot in a tournament, bet they couldn't tell you!
  5. Postman! Those long summer afternoons are so good for a golfer!
  6. Any one who concedes a putt of three feet on the last hole of the last match in a Ryder Cup to keep the scores tied has to be the man, so it's Nicklaus for me! Plus any one who saw him come through the field in the '86 Masters with a 65 has to agree he just had something that Tiger hasn't yet shown when he gets behind in a Major!
  7. I completely agree with crafty! I've just gone back to blades using the latest model from macgregor (Pro M) after using a set of MP30's for the last 6 years and the forgiveness of the blade is actually greater! Add this to the better feel off the face (just buttery like my old Nicklaus Muirfields used to be), the greater control of my ball flight in the wind (man you can hit these things low!) and the better view with the thinner topline and it's a hands down win for the blade!
