it seems that only those who do not know what makes a good 'golf swing' would suspect steroids in golf. I may be wrong (and please, do tell me if I am) but golf isnt primarily about strength. Strength helps, yes, but flexibility, balance and coordination are more important. Do steroids help in these areas? I really dont know... but I would think not.

OUCH....now THAT would have sucked....

ok, i will admit it, my first couple of times on a course, I really had no idea that I had to repair ball marks on the green. My buddy that I played with pointed it out to me and I felt foolish for not having common sense. Now, I too get a little irritated walking onto a green 'with acne' but I always keep in mind that I was clueless at first too...

I know that everyone, whether they realize it or not, will overestimate things, so I try to be conservative with my estimates. I have hit my driver on the range 200 but not often. If I'm being honest with someone who asks I'd just say that I've hit it 200yds but normally around 175. btw, how do you measure the distance of your shots on a course? Just walk the distance? (N00b here, I dont really know)

Well, good luck to ya! I'm fairly new to the game as well. Just finished my 6th lesson.

Hey there back at ya from NJ! I'm in Morris county and yes, the courses I've played so far are pretty decent (Pinch Brook and Flanders Valley W-B). How long have you been playing?

The whole thing is really sad that people dont have common sense to set their phones on vibrate. After all, why do they think they hold up those big yellow QUIET signs??? I understand that the new wave of cell phones you cant turn the sound off for the camera, but thats all the more reason to use your head.

sure why not... 1. 7 years ago, I took lessons then never played. 2. 7 years later, I started playing again (last october) 3. Taking lessons now, and my shots are much more accurate and can drive at least 75 yards further 4. I too have a very understanding wife 5. I drive a 1700cc motorcycle 6. I'm 36 and I play WAY too many videogames 7. My best 18 holes (out of 5 rounds so far) is 99 8. Chipping is my new favorite thing to practice 9. I work on a computer all day and browse golf tips 10. My clubs (Ping Zing2 irons, King Cobra driver) were given to me by a friend whose dad is a billionaire (he plays golf all the time and now has his own business designing and building golf courses)

a thing of beauty, it is.... -
I took my first chipping lesson not long ago and I've been practicing chipping just about every day. MY biggest issue was getting the ball up in the air and from constantly practicing I've found that it was my follow through. I think it was a matter of confidence. I thought the follow through would send the ball flying but the opposite was happening. I'd send the ball rolling off the green. That and making sure the ball is lined up with your back foot to promote a downward strike. I still have some work to do but at least through practice I've found MY answer. Your answer may be different but I thought I'd share.

LOL!! These are great!!!

I havent had a day like that yet, but i'm pretty new to the game so I'm sure it will happen. In other things I've had days like that and the best thing to do is just put it aside and do something else... those days just stink on ice...

Just go with your gut, I say... if you're not comfortable, then dont do it. At least that way, no matter what happens, you did what you felt was right.

hehehe yea, sounds like you have a miserable situation there! seriously, its great that your wife supports you in your golf habit. My wife does as well but unfortunately, we have alot going on these days so its 'Weekend Warrior' for me right now. Does your wife play as well?

I agree with ya bubba on the analog controls plus the tougher putting (needed that) but there's lots of graphic slow down and only SIX courses! I know they are adding an additional 6 for 07 but it would be nice if they threw us a bone and have some downloadable courses for 06...

Welcome! I'm new here as well, glad to see that everyone here has the golf bug like me. I wish I could play that much!!! I usually get to the range at lunchtime for heavy duty chipping and putting practice.

i was on a bowling league a few years back and we had a whole team of sandbaggers... they were all averaging below 170 for the first half then 'magically' the whole team started bowling 200+ every game... a few weeks before the finals, they were tossed out because of it. I wasnt a very good bowler at the beginning, had a 128 average. I bought a 'real' ball, took a couple of lessons, got my average up to 179 by the end. It's people like those sandbaggers that makes people who work at something to get better really frustrated. Because then you have everyone looking at YOU when you start to make real improvement. That why I'm not joining a golf league anytime soon until I get to a point where I feel I can compete and still have fun.

I have a 360... I have been playing the TW games since 2004... the 2006 version for the 360 is disappointing to me compared to 2005. I think it's moving in the right direction tho so I'm looking forward to 2007.

I am looking forward to it!

Broke 100 today! 99 WOO HOO! Now my new score goal is (obviously) 90!!
-
ya I've been poking around on their site etc and I like the ScoreKeeper program better so far. You can enter the course details and print out a scorecard that keeps track of the major stats, Fairways, greens, sand, putts, etc. http://www.scorekeeper.com I dont really need all the things it doesnt anyway. Was just curious as to what people thought of it.

Broke 100 today!! 99 on a par 65 62.4/103 - gonna see if I can make that a habit :)
-
Has anyone here used the GolfWits scorekeeping software? ( http://www.golfwits.com ) The option to have it on a Palm or PocketPC sounds great. having the course layout right on your device while you play. Just curious! Thanks

Yea, I can see it being very frustrating because even though there's no prize involved, there still is the integrity of the game and playing fair. I can totally understand that...

What a tease! A place like that and strip clubs are like going to a restaurant, ordering food, they bring it out for you to look at and smell but not touch, pay for it, then you go home and eat at home
