Vokey Wedges, 52, 56, 60....what bounce?
Damien45 replied to nutsnbolts's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Those sound pretty good to me, depending on your location in Cali. I personally have the following: 47.06 51.08 56.14 60.07 (don't use this one much, but have it) -
Gun control measures are misaimed IMHO. Making it harder to LEGALLY own / carry a gun really creates a larger pool of unarmed citizens for criminals to pick from. Criminals get guns through illegal means. They are not registered. If I was going to use a gun to commit a crime, I am not headed to a gun store to fill out the paperwork.....

I would say it really depends on the turf conditions that you play most. Softer fairways and high rough will require more bounce to prevent the club from "sinking" easily. Whereas firm ground and tight lies will require less bounce to avoid the club "springing" off the ground (and skulling the ball). -
Do you have golf friends that lie about there score constantly?
Damien45 replied to Wisconsin Golfer's topic in Golf Talk
I'd probably need a scientific calculator just to figure out the random chance he would hit the ball once to catch up.... -
I havn't played those two yet. Want to do at least one before I leave. ...and that ice plant is a %!&*!! lol as

Oh yeah! I played with a guy who kept dropping his ball near my drives because I was longer. He'd hit two balls each time and taking the best one. Then at the end he was "4 strokes" over me.....yeah..... -
Welcome! I am also in the Monterey Area. Well for the next two weeks anyway. I usually play at Black Horse/Bayonet (Military) and The PG Muni as well. I totally love that course. Looking forward to playing it next weekend before I leave.

Definately welcome! I totally enjoy it.

Currently own XD45. Have owned MANY! Just need to get to a state that isn't Anti-Gun to get most of mine back. I am military, so sold them when I got stationed in Cali.

Same club (6i), same place (range), different situation. My shaft snapped about a third of the way up from the club head. Funniest part was that it stuck in the ground like a little flag!

Need some serious help here! Possible fake Cameron

Where you able to resolve the issue? Anyone know if the serial number placement was changed over the years? -
Saw the photos of this one..... So, a guy took his "Trophy Wife" out for a round of golf. They get paired with a real hacker. This guy can not hit a straight ball at all. You would figure that after a couple holes of watching this the couple would be aware of his turn and possible flight paths. Well no....... Hacker was in the rough, "TW" was maybe 30yrds ahead on the same side. Hacker is doing his practice shots while "TW" heads towards he ball. Hacker tells "TW" that she might want to move out of the way, and she said she's fine...... One nice ting followed by a meaty THWAP! Hacker hits "TW" square in the nose! The damage was nasty.

Absolutely agree with all that has been posted already. Just wanted to add that while at the golf store today I say a few (3) trade-in 52 sets all going for $679+. One of the sets had some nicks, nothing deep or would effect the playability. So, for $400....jump! They are clubs that will last you for a very, very long time. Plus, you will love the way they feel and probably practice more as a result. Another thing to consider, since they are Mizuno and Forged clubs, you can adjust the lie anytime. So get them, get a fitting and make necessary adjustments. Oh, and I get my set in a week!

Sun Mountain has a couple golf bags that would fit your needs. The S-1 and the C-130. They both have external putter tubes, 14 way dividers, and the system is really well thought out. They designed it for wedges front, long irons and driver in back. This makes a lot of sense since the putter and wedges are what get put away at the end of each hole. The angled tier provides a clean look at everything (think stadium seating at a movie theater). I am currently trying to decide on a new bag. I get my Mizuno's next week and my old bag likes to fall over a lot. I am looking at the Sun Mountain, Ogio Section and Kingpin, and Mizuno Omega V. Give them a look.

Looks like there will be a few in your area. Get a partner and give it a go!

Paired? No, played with by choice (didn't know it before the round), yes. I posted something about it earlier.

It has to do with the core compression. According to Bridgestone, slower swing speeds do not compress the core enough to last the entire ball flight. As the core decompresses in flight the side spin starts to take over and slice/hook. That is why they offer the 3 tour balls that they do, based on the swing speed. The only real difference is the core compression appearantly. So the spin around the greens would be similiar, but not identical. Whereas the driver spin, and flight, is the true difference. This is all based on my conversation at the Demo Day I went to.

I have this GPS and I love it! I bought mine used and had a couple of issues with the purchase. The unit is great, never freezes. Customer service is outstanding. The issue I had was the previous owner had never called to transfer ownership. Callaway did everything to protect the previous owner. They made attempts to contact him to verify ownership. Once the attempts where exhausted, they finally changed ownership over. The downside that I feel should be added is the length of time it takes to map a "non home course". My home course was reopened in Dec with a redesign. The old layout is available, but the new one keeps getting pushed back. I realize that clear skies plays a huge part in getting the satelite images. Now since I am transferring in 3 weeks, I am not going to try to "change my home course". Which leads me into the next problem, how do you do that? The previous owner has his home course in South Carolina, so I really want to change it. I am waiting to find out where I will be going in a year before doing the change, and I hope they have made it an option by then.

Those are good wedges! I personally went with the ones I did because of the sole interaction with the turf. Again, a personal preferrence thing. Since you got the Vokey SM, you can have the lie adjusted really easily. If you know what your iron fitting specs are, look at having that done. Like I said before, having your wedge match your irons (lie adjustment, length adjustment, grip, ect) makes a HUGE difference!

I was barely listening to him when he said it. I was more amazed at how much it effected my shot just hearing it as "background noise". There are some people I play with who will not, or can not, stop talking. One usually says something in my back swing, or asks me a question about my setup just before. I was hitting my driver straight for a while at the begining of this year. He asked if I realized I stood a certain way just as I started my backswing. The BAM! Slice-O-Matic! That was 3 weeks ago and I only just got my driver straight again last Friday. I am thinking of just taking my iPod when I golf with these people.

Yeah, I was thinking "nice draw to the green". I didn't even "see the tree" until he said something.
-
To me, wedges are like putters. It is all about you and your preferrence. What works for me may or may not work for you. That being said..... I really like the Cleveland CG14 and Mizuno MP-T Series. I had the CG14 in 47.06, 56.14, and 60.08. I traded my 47 and 60 for the MP-T 47.06 and 51.0. I ordered them fitted like my irons. The difference is AMAZING! From 120-90yrds out I was within 12' everytime! I just picked the 47 up on Thursday, played with it on Friday and it felt like an old friend. So, whichever club you decide, get it fitted. To my understanding, the Adams set isn't as easy to adjust. Take your $100 and save a little more while shopping and researching the loft, bounce, and brand.

I played in a command golf event on Friday. We did a 4man, best ball sort of thing. This may or may not be what you think, I can clarify if needed. Anywho, my team was in the fairway about to pitch onto the green. We had a tree just barely in our line. Golfer 1: Hits his shot while focusing on the tree....off the toe and just about nowhere. Golfer 2: Hits his shot while focusing on the tree.....better results, but only about half the distance and way right (tree was on left) My turn: I was taking my practice swings (focusing on a bit of a draw to go around the tree). I step up and address the ball.....when: Golfer 2 says "Don't think about the tree, just hit it like it isn't there. That's the mistake I made". What do you think happened? Yeah, I hit the tree. My ball went up into the branch above, and directly down to the cartpath. Two nice bounces on the path put me about 5yrds from where I started. Yes the tree was about 30yrds away. So I looked at him, dropped a ball and said "This is why you shouldn't have said anything about the tree". I hit my draw and put it about 6' from the pin. Of course we couldn't use that shot. Luckily Golfer 4 put us on the green about 11' away. So, don't you hate it when someone waits until the worst time to say something they really didn't need to?

Your number 1 tip for the casual golfer ...
Damien45 replied to dvd436's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Work on your short game. Depending on if you have a house or apartment, you can get a chipping net or set something up in your yard that will let you practice. Get the "Scoring Zone" (chipping, pitching, ect) part of your game to be solid. -

Seriously, this is a fast way to get ignored. Then what good would your Ad-O-Blast mentality do?
