  1. Congrats! I am still looking for my first below 100 round. Hopefully that will happen in the next few weeks. I have been practicing as much as I can expesially on my chipping/pitching/putting. Mark
  2. I heard on the radio today that all she wants from Bill is a autographed copy of Caddy Shack. It sounds like she was really cool about it and Bill was also concerned about her as well. Mark
  3. I have been just at this point buying several different golf magazines from the store rack. I want to get a subscription to one of them but I can't decide which one. I am leaning toward Golf Magazine. What mags do you guys/gals like and subscribe too. Mark
  4. Thanks for the info everyone. I know that the golf ball is not going to "fix" my slice and I need to work on my swing for that. I just feel it is time to move up from a very cheap ball to something a little better. I will give some of the ones mentioned a try starting with the Bridgestone e6. Mark
  5. Up to this point I have been using just the cheapest ball I can find as I have been learning the game and have been loosing a lot of them. I am starting to get somewhat a handle on things and my swing is starting to improve and I am keeping them more inbounds. I would like to try a better qaulity ball with out getting overly expensive. I still am batteling a slice at times so what is a next step up golf ball that would help with that and help me continue to improve my game. I have been thinking of trying the Top Flight XL "Straight" are these worth trying? Thanks! Mark
  6. When I first played when I was a teenager I used the interlocking. Now that I am coming back to the game after 25+ years I have gone to the Vardon grip after reading about how it is the most popular grip in most books and with most players on tour. I also have big hands (I'm 6'6") and the Vardon grip feels more natural. I am kind of suprised at this poll and that most people use interlocking. Mark

  8. I think Mickleson will win the Shell Houston and that will set up a epic Masters with Woods and Mickleson in the final paring on Sunday at the Masters. Mark
  9. I am planning on upgrading to a good fitted set of clubs later this summer. Right know I am playing with a cheap set I bought off Ebay a couple years ago. I am really trying to improve my game this year and I think I want to start off with new everything and get a fitted set of clubs to help my game. What are some iron sets I should be looking at? I like the idea of a hybrid set vs a straight iron set. I have a hard time with the 3-5 irons and have used a friends hybrid and can hit that much better. I have been looking very close at a Adams a3S Hybrid Iron set that I really like the looks of. Is this a good choice? Anything else I should be looking at? Mark

  11. I played 9 holes with my daughter a couple weeks ago and that has been it for this year, I have been practicing a lot though and was hoping to get out this weekend untill winter decided to return here in Utah. Before this last trip it had been almost a year since I last went golfing, I got very busy with other distractions last year and my golf game took a back seat. This year will be different, I want to really try and improve my game this year and try to get out a lot more. My 6 year old daughter is getting in to it so know I also have a good excuse to the wife for needing to go. Mark
  12. I have been trying to get to the range twice a week during my lunch break to hit a large buckett. I also will practive chipping/pitching in my backyard and putting inside on carpet when possible. I want to try and get a extra trip to the range during lunch to just practice putting and chipping, maybe at the same time buy a small buckett and just practice under 100yard shots. Mark
  13. I took my six year old daughter Kylee out golfing for the first time on Saturday, and she had a blast! We hit the course for 9 holes in the late afternoon as I wanted to avoid the crowds. We ended up being the last group out so we had no one behind us and could take our time. Kylee had a fun time riding around the cart and even tried driving it a little bit. She did ok hitting the ball and could get it out off the tee with her little 9 iron about 25-30 yards. We would then pick up her ball and then let her drop it and hit again out by my ball. She was really curious about hitting it out of the sand and on the second hole she hit one into a greenside bunker on purpose to try hitting it out. I didn't notice that she went into the sand trap with her putter utell she was just getting set to swing, I told her "you can't hit it out with your putter you need your iron" she gave me a look that only an indipendant 6 year old can give and said "I can hit it out with a putter" she then blasted it out of the sand with it. She turned to me "see Dad I told you so". She had fun putting as well and even drained one at about 8 feet. She got bored though after about 5 holes and had more fun throwing rocks into the water hazards. I didn't push her to keep playing though and just let her do things at her own pace. We did go over some rules about proper golf etticate and some simple rules. We stopped and celibrated with a happy meal on the way home. All in all one of my best times on a golf course. I wish I would have remembered the camera and got some photos. She watched some of the WGA -CA championship with me on Sunday and they were talking about the rules about not grounding the club in the sand, she asked me if that rule applies to her and her putter in the sand . She already wants to go out again next weekend!!! Mark
  14. Does anyone wear a back brace when golfing? I have been practicing more this year and have been having some lowerback pain after I spend time on the range, I have had back pain in the past and it is nothing new. I need to be better at stretching and strenthening my back and I am working on that but I wonder if wearing a back brace while playing would help give me some support. Mark
  15. How do I edit my settings so I don't get email notification each time someone resondes to a topic I have posted on? Thanks! Mark
  16. My goals for 2009 are to get serious about Golf. I have played only a few times a year since I first started Golfing 4 years ago. This year I want to practice more and try to play more rounds as well. I also am having problems with a slice and want to get rid of that. I also have a six year old daughter that is geeeting into the game and i want to encourage her to golf as well. Mark
