Mary needs to go. She bugs me to no end. She was trying to convince Fiamma to choose Kylee over Sadena saying that Sadena would always have a wedge into the green, there was no mention of the fact that Kylee could have also chosen Mary. I was rooting for Kylee to win. I have nothing against Fiamma except that she is part of the clique and Mary is the type to play both sides, what a back stabber.

My first and so far only eagle was on a short par 5 dogleg left. Hit to the right rough with driver and then on in 2 with a 5 iron. Sank a 10 foot uphill putt. What made it so memorable was that I got it on 9/11/2001. Barry

Shot an 89 at my home course on Saturday and shot my best 9 on the front with a 41 and followed up with a 48 on the back with a double on the 18th. Course is 68.8 118 at 6191 yards from the whites. Got 7 pars on the front 9 and only one on the back. I rolled about another 5 to 7 putts just outside the hole that another inch or so would have made the score a lot lower. I had been going down hill all summer from the start of league, last Thursday got a 54. Barry

Question about re-gripping clubs
coffeediver replied to JWILL203's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Check out http://www.puregrips.com They are non tape grips that you put on with an air compressor. You buy the little gadget for a compressor and all 13 clubs re-gripped in about 20 minutes. Took much longer to get the old grips off. You will also need something to hold the grip in a vise, I got mine from golfsmith. The grips are made smaller on the inside so they grip the shaft with no adhesive necessary. I have had mine on for about 2 months and think they are great. Right now they are selling the grips half off when you buy the tool. Cost me about $80 with shipping. I did find them at some online stores for even cheaper but that was after I had already bought them. -

Last October in Estes Park, Colorado, had 50 Elk on the 17th and 18th fairways. My future son-in-law and I had to wait to tee off while a huge bull mated a cow 20 yards in front of the 17th tee. We then had to use the cart to help move them away. On the 18th, I had a shot that rolled under a cow and had to shoo her away to play my next shot. Barry

Figures just as the season was starting, I had to have my knee scoped this last Monday. Doc says I should only be out for 2 to 3 weeks but can practice chipping and putting in the mean time. On the first day of league I had the lead for net score in the third flight and picked up 2 skins. Now I can't wait to get back. Barry

No, I did not have my camera with me, I am not into pics. Course was gorgeous though. The ball did not roll out much and the greens were a little slow but the scenery was great. Most areas did not seem too wet to me but I have never seen the course during normal condition. The people I played with were members and would comment that some things would not have happened, especially on the greens if it had been normal conditions. Barry

Got to play TPC Scottsdale Stadium and Champions courses and Gold Canyon Dinosaur Mountain. All were gorgeous although a little slow from the over seeding but still nice. Barry

Sorry, I did mean October.

Hello, anyone there?
-
I will be spending the 3rd and 4th week in Phoenix. What courses should I play. I already have a tee time for TPC Scottsdale on the 24th. What other courses should I try for? I wanted to play Gold Canyon Dinosaur but it will not reopen after over seeding till the 30th and I will be coming home that day. Barry

Been golfing for about 8 years, paid over $2k for a custom built set of clubs this last spring, played about 45 rounds since March and still have not broke 90. My men's league club championship, 2 days of 18 holes each, 107 and 102. Barry

I just made a reservation for a 9:38 tee time for Oct. 24th at the TPC Scottsdale to play the Stadium course. Can't wait. Barry

Bring back DDT. Barry

I had 5 pars including 4 in a row yesterday during league play. First time I ever got 5 pars in a round much less a 9 hole round. Barry

Once I started playing by the rules, I realize that I suck. Other than that. A new set of forged clubs. Changed my swing on my own and have gone from a fade/wicked slice to a draw with a sometime fade thrown in. Usually able to hit at least one 300 yard drive per 18 with about 270 being the norm. And this is after 5 back surgeries. Have played more golf this year that the previous 7 combined, am at about 35 rounds since March. Over the winter will have to work on the short game more. Barry

Sometimes I am surprised I can do this good. I have had 5 back surgeries including a fusion S1-L4 three years ago. Should have asked the doc to put some pre-stressed springs in there to help with swing speed.

I bought custom fit clubs in April and have just been doing terrible until just lately. Start with 57 through 61 on 9 holes and just could not get anything going until just now. My normal slice turned into a pull hook and my irons were all over the place. Now I am hitting my driver between 275 and 300, again measured with gps, usually with a slight draw to a slight fade with the occasional oops thrown in. Yesterday I hit my 7 iron 10 yards past a front ping placement on a par 3 measuring 175 to the front yard par 3 with slightly elevated tee.

I bought the 2.5 lite at first and then I paid for the upgrade.

Last night in men's league, I shot a 44. I know it's not a great score, but for me, I am happy. Now, I have shot a couple lower rounds than that in the past but that was before I played strictly by the rules. I did not have any birdies and I had 1 penalty after topping one and put it in a water hazard. I also had a drive measured at 290 into a fairly strong breeze measured with skycaddie. Now if I can just put 2 of those together I may break my best 18 hole score of 91 from a few weeks ago. I am finally starting to bend the will of my new custom clubs to go along with my obvious amount of talent. Barry

I believe that a good "golf name" is as important to golf as any piece of equipment and since I believe that Tiger's is the best. A "Tiger" is an animal that takes no prisoners and "Woods" is a particular piece of golf equipment so that makes for a great combo in a Golf name. So I have chosen for myself the golf name of Elephant Irons. It fits rather well since I am over 300 lbs. I even have a hat and golf towel with the name on it. My brother has since adopted the moniker of Buffalo Balls.

I want my money back! Stupid Groundskeepers.

My local course was being dug up several years ago when they started building houses around it. I started on 10 and 10, 11 and 12 had big trenches dug through the fairways for sewer and drain lines. The dirt next to the trench was piled up 2 feet high and they were right in the landing areas. After those 3 holes, I went back to the clubhouse, which was also being remodeled and demanded my money back. They offered a rain check but as this was going to be a long construction time, I told them no, give me my money back so I can go play somewhere and enjoy it. Barry -
Double shot of Wild Turkey per side and on weekends add a Blue Moon to that. Barry

I have had 2 slipped discs, 4 surgeries on them and finally a fifth surgery to fuse L4, L5 and S1. I play many rounds and still drive the ball 275 when I connect. I had asked the doc if he could put a pre-loaded spring in my back for more distance and maybe even a swivel to help with swing plane but all for naught. Except for numbness in my right leg below the knee which makes it difficult to walk a course. Other than a high handicap I have no other problems. Barry
