Yeah me too! Nothing worse than hitting a pull-hook right into the parking lot on my 1st teebox of my home course. Thank goodness its just a small muni with everyday average joes, not some rich private course with mercedes and aston martins in the parking lot! I love shortgame shots, they require the most creativity and imagination. Keep working at it and you will develop your feel and touch for the short game. I look at it this way, I go by the 2/3 rule, if you have an hour to practice each day, 40 min should be on short game and the other 20 should be on the range. Thats saying that you have only an hour a day.

I still love my Ping G2, wouldn't trade it for anything except for maybe the G5. The G10 and 15 feel the same to me but I just love Ping Drivers, they have that loud CRACK when you hit the ball and the sweet spot is amazing.

I say 13, he has a long career ahead of him and his swing is great and accurate. It wont break down his body as much as tigers swing with his left leg snapping. I think he wont have as many injuries and as long as hes focused he should get around 12-13

I miss the old Tiger, I always thought his biggest mistake was getting married because he was at the top of the world and charging for Jacks record. I think the scandal did him in because he no longer possesses those nerves of steel during the final rounds of a golf tournament. There is always something that throws him off and he looks too "mechanical" with his swing and his swing thoughts whereas before his swing was so fluid, he would just picture the shot and hit it! His confidence is broken and until he gets that back I think he has no chance at beating Jack. Plus, look at how deep the competition is with these young guns coming up. Tiger does have a chance at a few future Masters tournaments because he knows that course but I would count him out of the next 4 US Opens, I dont think his game right now matches up with those.

Chipping/Pitching advice!
Luckner88 replied to darkhunter139's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
The funny thing for me is that the chipping/pitching always came easy but the golf swing took forever for me to understand. I always think of chipping/pitching as an "art." It's better to take an artistic approach to it rather than a mechanical approach. Sure there is technique involved, for chips you want to open your stance a little, put the ball back in your stance and keep the hands ahead of the ball. You want to sweep the ball, not chop at it when you chip. For pitches I like to narrow my stance and make an "L to L" swing which is halfway back and halfway through. Envision where you want the ball to land and "play to the picture" what I mean is to create a picture in your mind after each practice swing of where the ball is going to land, how it will react, how far it will roll. When you keep practicing this "artistic" approach then the mechanics naturally fall in place. Try working on that! -
Totally agree, he will make a whole lot more from endorsements

Thanks for the reply Lebowski! So do you keep your toes up in the setup or what? Because when I turn I feel the weight move towards my toes and thats where I think I go really flat in the backswing

Hey guys, I am having trouble really knowing how to coil in the backswing. I don't know if its my spine tilt or setup but my shoulder turn always feels restricted and the plane looks waaayyy too flat, and the only way I can get into position is to lift my arms. This leads to my downswing being all arms and no power. I just can't get the feeling of proper coil, everything just feels weak and Im only 25 years old and cannot see why my shoulder turn feels so restricted and flat. Does this have to deal with setup? Because I bend from the hips, I dont contract the abs (do I have to do this??) and I feel like I'm in proper form. Just can't figure it out, please help

Thanks for giving explaining that better. Just to clarify, when I tug my forearm my right elbow starts to bend up naturally, am I doing it right?

Grantc79 thanks for your advice but can you explain in a little more detail about the fore-arm angles. Is this happening during my take-away and can you explain the angles a little better, maybe with a picture because I am a little confused. I tend to think of the shoulder turn as a door swinging horizontally and I think thats the wrong thing to do. If I can focus more on my fore-arm then that would be an easier swing thought but I am a little confused about your angles. If you can explain it to me in a little more detail I would truly appreciate it. Thanks

Rexx thanks for the tip, I notice that I do flip my wrists at impact and I get sort of a balloon effect on my ball flight. The thing I'm afriad of when tugging the butt of the grip is hitting the shot fat. I've done it a couple of times and I don't understand if it is my arms dropping too quickly.

I know that I am coming inside but I don't know how to turn my shoulders on a steeper angle, I kind of just turn them horizontally.

thanks I fixed it

First off let me just start by saying this forum is awesome! I have never seen a place where so many people help each other and put in so much effort to guide players of all skill levels through the fundamentals of golf. Because of that, I wanted you guys to critique my swing. I have taken 3 lessons and all three teachers seemed lazy and out to get my money. Each one of them basically said the same stuff I read in a $5 golf magazine, the same ole' "Keep swinging naturally, it will all come together." They never took video footage of my swing either so now I would like some people on this great foum to give me some tips and help me with what I have been strugglign with for years...THE FULL SWING! My short game is perfect but for some reason I can't get enough distance out of my irons. It's frustrating playing for par and bogey on long par 4's and par 5's when I can't reach the green in 3 without a long iron. I just don't know how to get the ower out of my swing. Here's my problem- I can't understand the correct feeling of a powerful swing. I think it's my shoulder turn and my hip turn. When I turn my shoulders they are very flat and halfway through the turn it feels tight and restricted, I don't know if it's my spine angle or not but I realize older guys and younger guys turning their shoulders way past what I turn them with ease. II try to raise my arms to give it a better plane but I heard that raising the arms are bad. When I just turn my shoulders it is very flat plane. I don't think I'm doing a correct shoulder turn, maybe it's because my shoulders are rolled forward, i don't know. The other thing is my hip turn on the downswing. When I turn my hips from the top, I cast and go over the top spinning my hips out. I know gauged my swing by moving my shoulder and my hips and now I get a nice draw but my distance is weak, I'm only getting like 145-150 with my 7-iron. I just can't understand the hip turn and the pivot, and when and how to unleash the "secret" power. Please help guys, I am going crazy over this.

Can you please elaborate on how you do that, do you turn your torgue clockwise on your back foot on the backswing then front foot on the downswing? Reason I'm asking is that I'm trying to do this now because I have a hard time shifting the weight at the moment of impact. usually I shift it before impact and waste power in the process.

Hey Guys, newbie here. I'm 23 years old. I have no understanding of how to execute the correct shoulder turn in the backswing. I have had lessons with people who obviously were there to take my money and care less of my improvement so I am a little hesitant on taking another lesson and I'm seeing if you guys can help. OK so here's my problem. I don't understand the correct feeling of the backswing. I bring my left shoulder under my chin and my swing looks like a baseball swing (way too flat) my club is way around my body. Also my arms don't go back that far and feel tight when I'm halfway back. I'm doing something wrong and I can't figure it out. I'm pretty tall and I don't stand upright at all. I don't know what triggers the backswing. Do I use my right shoulder first? Also when I tilt my spine angel and turn my left shoulder under my chin, the swing looks even flatter. I think I'm turning my body instead of my shoulders but how do I isolate the shoulders? I read magazines and watch old guys get the backswing to the top with ease and I don't know the correct feeling of it. Ca someone explain it to me, I would appreciate it! Sorry no video of my swing, I will upload it sooner or later.

Mine is Wildwinggsgolf.com, pretty nice 9 hole owned by kemper sports

Tiger would destroy Jack even with those old wooden clubs!

Check to see if your grip is too closed. If not, you maybe releasing too early, you should try to hold the wrist-cock angle a little longer but not to long because it will turn into a slice or push. Try to work on it slowly to get the feeling for it then hit some normal shots.

I only have the nickel Spin Milled 52* and I love it, especially for short chips. I don't have the oil can but my friend does and it changes color over time. It gets rusty fairly quick if water gets on it or if you use it in the sand a lot......BUT......rust can be good/bad depending on the amount of spin you get from it. If you have a hard time spinning the ball and the club gets a little rusty on the face, then it will help spin the ball more. But if you can spin the ball pretty easily with a spin-milled, more rust (more friction) can cause problems. I golfed with a guy who had an oil can spin milled vokey and he complained about the rust on the club. I seen him in action with it and he hit a couple of good shots next to the hole only to see them spin off the green, no joke! I would be annoyed if that happened to me, but if you REALLY want the oil can, then get it in a 60* so that you only have to use it for finesse shots to fine-tune your accuracy. I haven't checked out the chrome but normally chrome is too shiny when setting up to the ball, especially on a sunny day. Hope thos helps!
