  1. Can you make a suggestion for me? I will be in the LA area in early August. I am looking for a course at
  2. I'll start, as I just got something down to hopefully improve my consistency. Full Shot Setup -Grip club, with both "V's" facing mid chest -Half muted practice swing -Point to target with club from behind the ball -Walk to ball with eyes on target, waggle, set -ARMS IN, HEAD HIGH -Check target, waggle -SWING [THOUGHTS] [Hips back, hips through, extend/turn over right forearm through impact, follow hips through to finish] Putt Setup -Get as much of a read as possible without slowing things down -Get behind the ball 10 ft -crouch behind ball, put putter heel past ball on the target line -step to stance, leaving putter where it lay -get quick note on putters heel -two practice swings, without a break between -putt to the spot where the putter had been [THOUGHTS] [keep body still, arms down, loose grip, SHOULDERS, don't fight arc] Lags = putt to within a garbage can lid
  3. Well, if I ever "make it".. ..and people crowd the fairway, you'll know me as "that guy that shanked one and put that old lady in a coma."
  4. Thanks, I appreciate the help. Haven't made it to the range, we had lightning here today. But I think I need to keep my arms closer to my torso. It forces a more upright stance, and gives me consistency through impact. It also allows me to clear my hips. This is all speculation, since I dont have any real feedback from a golfball yet...lol. It feels good though, and also like something I can groove pretty consistently. I cant wait to try it tomorrow, along with the new putter.!
  5. Pretty good straight forward video. I took some swings with a weighted club trying to mute some of my thoughts. It's really difficult without any real feedback, however. I am thinking about hitting the range again to see if I can iron something out. Anymore suggestions are welcome!
  6. I think he is asking about the hours..Typically they are very long. When I worked in a pro shop studying to be an apprentice, 15 hour days were not uncommon. Golf was hard to come by, and I usually only played 4 holes before dark every night, and maybe I could squeeze in a round or two during the week while I wasn't working (if I could stand the site of the place). I know I typically worked well over 60 hours a week, it is definitely not an "easy" job, as some outside of the industry may try to tell you. And remember, at least during the busy season, you are pretty much required to be there every day.
  7. It feels like I've been working on my swing since i've started golf. I've never really settled into my swing, I am always looking for something closer to ideal. I feel like I'm getting very close to some of my best ball striking yet... I am an experienced golfer, but I am striving to be a scratch. I am playing a set of corba tour II os I played well last week, I was taking a short swing. Putting the ball in the fairway, but still only making about 20% gir....I feel I launch my irons too high. I know that my arms come through too quickly. I swing on a good plane, but I have recently also had problems with my setup. On the range, if i try to get a handle on my arms and lean into the ball to get the trajectory I want, I will spray the ball far right. When I struck one well trying this, it would typically draw, and sometimes get into a sweeping draw. I normally play a draw, but it can sometimes turn hook, and it still feels very solid. I'm not positive if my hands are open, or if it is a problem with my distance to the ball in setup. I think my tempo may also be a mess. Overall I would like to get this type of low trajectory straight flight swing down..lol (wouldn't everyone).. but does anyone have any tips off of the information given?
  8. Whistling Straits is definitely the best course I've played. Blackwolf Run isn't far behind. Although I did play the "lesser" of both of those courses, playing the Irish and the Meadows. Both great courses, however, nice to be able to hang a picture on my wall of a course I've actually played. I'll be out near LA this summer, I was really hoping to get in at Pebble Beach, until I saw the price tag...$500. Oh well, plenty of nice courses to play out that way.
  9. I'm looking into regripping my clubs also. I love the tour velvet, but I think I'll go with the oversized this time. I loved these tan grips that I think golfpride made years ago. Has anyone seen anything in this color recently?
  10. I really like the headcover from the 2008 button back, but I don't see myself really getting one. I also collect pool cues, so I've already heard plenty of people's opinions on what a "waste of money" stuff like this is. It doesn't bother me at all, having a well manufactured piece of equipment like a high end pool cue or putter is worth the price tag for me. That piece of mind that your item was handcrafted and designed well using the best materials is something I can really appreciate. My investments in some of my pool cues is far more than my recent purchase of a scotty cameron putter. I am considering collecting more of these gems since they are in fact cheaper in comparison to some of the really well made cues. My cues, however, have all appreciated in value. One of them has doubled in value in the short 5 years I have owned it. I don't plan on ever selling it either way, but it is nice to know that other people are increasing the value of something you own by producing demand for that particular item. Overall I have bought this putter to putt with. I love the feel of the cameron, and to me, spending $100 every 6 months rotating putters is more bothersome than finding that one putter that you will continue to use and improve with. There will certainly be a learning curve for this putter, as there is with any, but I feel that the quality is unsurpassed. People replace drivers on a yearly basis, but putt for years with a cheap northwestern. I don't care one bit, but I ultimately choose to improve my game. Through years in the sport, I know that the best way to do this is to improve my consistency on and around the greens.
  11. I just recently purchased a Studio Select Newport and am eagerly awaiting its arrival. I had bought a odyssey srt 2 ball white steel putter, and this was just simply not for me. Luckily I bought it from callaway, and received a 30 day trial period. Great customer service from callaway. But I was looking for my last putter, I had tried a studio stainless years ago and have wanted one for at least 6 years. After messing with other putters (odyssey, ping, tm) I decided to just go for it. I compare it to purchasing a Harley-Davidson instead of a Honda. The resale value of the HD's and Scotty's are way above those of their competitors, but most will still depreciate, which is expected.
  12. Exactly what i'm talking about...apparently i am not alone
  13. lol...i dont even know what that is... but i had the turtles...happy together recently, that was when i realized it was a problem
  14. 79! although, it's hardly fair since my home course has two temporary greens on the front. But nevertheless I managed to shoot a 38 on the back, which I am more than pleased with.
  15. The last song I hear on the radio before I get out of my car has a way of lodging itself deep within me...I catch myself humming or singing it in between shots, especially if I'm walking. I can't explain it, it's both comical and infuriating, especially if that last song happens to be less than desirable. Does this happen to anyone else?
  16. I would agree that his character issues aren't all that bad..It just seems that the bengals are asking for trouble. Remember, this guy is going to be teammates with plenty of people who will be a bad influence on him... And by the way...who told him to run the 40 shirtless ..lol..
  17. I don't understand the hype that surrounds both the r7 and the r9. I am almost positive that it is illegal to alter your club during a round, so unless you know a course favors a draw or a fade heavily, I don't see much use. And if you are using this club to correct a slice or a hook, there are plenty of other more forgiving drivers out there. Also, one other side note. Notice that the r9 only has two changeable weights..it won't be long before TM makes the r9 superquad...just a heads up for those of you that may think this club is for you.
  18. Thought I would share this one with all of you, I've just started using it and I'm already in love. I can't wait to get more rounds into it. Has a pretty nice interface as well, and you can't beat free! http://www.mobilegolfstats.com/
  19. Andre Smith looks good...but why draft another player with character issues? I'm pretty surprised Lewis still has his job, and I think it got a little more challenging by adding another unruly player to the mix. I think they would've been better off taking a safer pick and trying to turn around their reputation, but thats just me.
  20. I can't be the only one that watches the draft, what grade do you give your home team in the draft? I'll say the Packers deserve an A-. Thompson never trades up, he must see something great in Clay Matthews. I was somewhat sad to see us pass on Crabtree, but Raji looks like a beast....
  21. I happened to be at the 16th loss of the year for the Lions. They have got to be the worst ever...although the bucs were bad...lets just say they both suck
  22. Tiger, but why isnt arnie in the argument?
